The beer pours a rustic brown hue, fairly deep, and is capped with a short-lived film of ecru bubbles. The nose offers a good deal of Balsamic notes, with a hint of vinous (sherry/port-like) sweetness, and a wee bit of concord grape. The flavor is more of a fence-straddling proposition between the Concord grape sweetness, and a bit of funky Balsamic vinegar notes. The brew is certainly not terribly acidic, but it has strong aromatic and gustatory notes that leave an definite impression. This seems like it would pair fantastically with food, especially mushrooms.

Enjoyed this beer on tap out of a goblet glass.
A: Nearly pitch black with amber highlights and 1-finger tan head that quickly dissipates and leaves a wispy lace.
S: Fairly sweet aroma with a dark fruit backbone.
T: Very sweet flavor with roasted malts and dark fruits.
M: Medium body and medium carbonation.
O: I've never heard of this style before nor tasted it. It was superb! Nice sipping beer at 9%.
