We've stopped here several times now in our travels from VA to NY. The usual trip consists of stopping at the luxurious HoJo next door (I'm kidding, of course) and hobbling over to Lancaster for dinner and brews. Probably the most impressive part of this combination is we often spend just as much (if not more) on our Lancaster bill as we do for the HoJo bill for one night.

The atmosphere is upscale pub. It's clean and has a warm, pleasant feel. It's a bit awkward if you walk in through the door closest to the HoJo as the host stand is on the other side of the restaurant. In effect, you have to walk through the restaurant to be seated. Minor gripe.

The menu is sandwiches, pizza, an assortment of decent American-flair entrees and a nice selection of appetizers. The olive plate is two huge fistfuls of olives -- a good deal for the below $5 mark. We have had everything from pizza to the crab stuffed trout to hamburgers -- all have been well-seasoned, nicely presented, and good portions for the price. The most recent visit I had the pretzel encrusted chicken -- it was quite flavorful and the pretzel coating offered and interesting texture. Thus, the food selection is quite good.

The beer is consistently good. This past visit I had a pint of the Amish Four Grain and the Winter Warmer; my girlfriend had the Milk Stout and the IPA. All tasted fresh and were the perfect ending to a hectic day of travel from DC. The selection, of course, is limited to the beers made by Lancaster. However, if you are remotely interested in beer, you should find something good to try. They offer a sampler of all tapped beer, too.

A welcomed place right off of the 83 -- in an area that is mostly dominated by chain restaurants. A worthy stop.

A nice find just outside of Harrisburg PA. The service was excellent, servers are quite knowledgable about the various beers on tap. They had 11 Lancaster Brewing varieties on tap. The food was reasonably priced and good quality. They make a pretty good steak and their pizza paired very well with some of their beers.

Personally, I found the stouts and Double IPA to be of good quality. Some of the less flavorful ale varieties however were a bit too bland. The Double Chocolate Milk Stout was the most surprising of the group.

As far a brew pubs go, Lancaster does a really good job offering good food. The major drawback is their pricing, it's a tad steep for upscale pub food. They do a very good job at offering 'comfort food' menu items with their own unique twist on them and the quality of their food is above average. Service is slightly above average but it isn't fantastic but that's pretty par for the course in regards to brew pubs. They also do a good job at seperating their pub from their dinning room, you get the feeling that you could go there for a nice, quiet sit down meal with someone special or go to have a good time in their pub area for more of a typical bar feel. Worth a visit every few months.

I had dinner here on a Saturday night with my wife, and my brother and sister in law.

We were seated promptly, and after ordering a flight of beers, we only had to wait a few minutes for our drinks.

It's a very open area, nothing spectacular, but certainly inviting. It was really nice to be able to hear each other speak, even though it was a Saturday night. Business was brisk but not absurd.

Our drink flights were less than 10 dollars for 10 samples of beer. The samples included all of their regular lineups as well as a few seasonals. The seasonals were an octoberfest and a hefeweizen, both of which were good. Of their regular beers, the milk stout was far and away the best beer. Most of the others were average, although I enjoyed them all.

The food was even better than the beer. The beer was a B while the food was a solid A. I had a lamb burger which was not only delicious but inexpensive. My brother had a rabbit ragout which was great, my wife had a tender and delicious salmon, and my sister in law enjoyed her pretzel encrusted chicken.

I would definitely come back here. Great food and good beer.

Stopped into LCB Harrisburg for a growler refill and late lunch on Father's Day. It was fairly busy but not overcrowded. Could tell the staff was operating at capacity by the slight delay in service.

Had the Country Cream Ale with the flatiron steak sandwich. I was curious how the food would measure up to the original LCB brew pub in Lancaster (visited late last year). Not to worry because it was phenomenal. I wasn't sure how the cream ale would pair with the flatiron steak, but it was a perfect match. The caramelized onions and mushrooms became infused with the crisp carbonation of the ale. The palette was wiped clean after every sip from the nonic pint glass. I never realized how good a lighter beer could be with steak. I usually reach for a brown ale or dark lager with this type of pub fare.

All in all, one of my new favorite establishment for premium dining and craft beer. Now off to tackle the growler they filled with Hop Hog IPA (review coming soon).

Let me preface this review by saying...I'm biased. I'm usually in here several times a week, and all the bartenders know me by name. The staff is ridiculously friendly, and not just because I'm a regular...whenever I bring someone in, they treat them just like they treat me, and I see how well they treat everyone else in the establishment. The beer isn't the best in the world, but its actually cheaper than chain restaurants, and has a hell of a lot of flavor.

The food is usually really, really good, but on occasion, theres a stinker on the menu. The menu actually changes seasonally (or is supposed to), so you won't be eating things out of season...also, a lot of items on the menu incorporate the beer into the dish, which is really cool. The place is usually empty for lunch, which is when I come in most of the time, but most nights, its absolutely bumping and the atmosphere is really great.

This is my favorite place to go to for a refreshing drink after a long day of work, or even when I just want to hang out with friends. The entire crew at the bar (Julian, Bob, Kara and yes, even Alli) do an amazing job keeping me wanting to come back for more. Kudos to everyone at LBC for running a class brewpub.
