Stopped in here today on a day off work. It's a bit of a drive from the suburbs but I believe it was worth the trip. Lots of parking in the area, which also seems to be a strange place for a big box liquor store, even though UIC is only a few blocks away, it just seems a little out of place in the neighborhood, but then again the neighborhood has changed like crazy over the past coupled of years so maybe it's not so strange afterall. Anyways, onto the store.
Just about the biggest liquor store I've seen, well Sam's is bigger, but I really like the layout of this store better. Beer is to the back and left of the store, a few banks of coolers keep a number of beers that you can find on the shelves cold. Followed by this are three long rows of shelves that hold all the domestic and imported craft beers. The import selection was extensive, and while it may not match a place say like West Lakeview in terms of rare beers, they still do have a lot to offer. Some beers that I've only seen offered as 750s I can find here in 11.2oz bottles. The domestic section was just a bit lacking in my opinion as they had a lot of beer here that any Binny's in the suburbs has, the only difference being there is a whole hell of a lot more of it around. They did have a few four packs of Founders Harvest Ale, which I haven't seen at Sam's or other suburban Binny's so that was nice. Oh yeah, they also have a bar (though it was closed when I went) a walk in humidor and a whole room dedicated to rare liquor. So if you are ever in the area or have some free time I would highly recommend stopping by here just for the sheer novelty of it.
