Manderes has done something rarely seen in the world of beer... they've combined a beer bar with quality restaurant - and kept the prices in the range of the chain places.

They always seem to have an excellent tap (20) and bottle (100+) selection, and the servers are all reasonably knowledgeable about the beers they serve. Not to the level of the more hardcore BAs, but enough to serve the needs of the majority of their customers.

What really sets the food apart is the quality of the ingredients and attention to detail that they put into their dishes. Whoever is calling the shots in the kitchen really seems to know what they're doing.

If they weren't sixty miles away, I'd be here at least once a week.

First time I came here I found it somewhat snooty. Glad I came back and gave it another shot. The tenders are fantastic and friendly. Their knowledge of the products they serve could be a bit better but they have a general understanding of beer and wine. Some are more enthusiastic than others and you will usually find someone to talk beer with at the bar. The owner knows his stuff and keeps a great selection on hand. About 15-20 beers on tap and a small library of bottles. Good selection of IPA's and Belgians. They will be moving to a new larger location a few blocks away sometime in 2011. A few more seats should be a welcome addition.

I was visiting relatives and making a local beer tour. Manderes was on my list as a maybe, but ran into the Allagash rep who highly recommended it. It's about 15 miles east of downtown Sacramento, but well worth making the trip if you are anywhere close to the area. Great bottle (120+) and rotating (20+) draft selection. The owner & bartender were very knowledgeable and friendly. They also have a pretty decent wine list as well.
ihad the Angus burger with the black & tan onion rings, both were delicious.

This is one of the extremely few (3) decent bars in the Sacramento area. Its about 20 min up the road and well worth it. The pinnacle of this beer bar is a very good tap selection and a large variety of bottled beers.

The food is quite good, after several meals there I have had only one complaint. Most likely an off night for the Chef. Menu ranges form a decent burger to salads and pasta and grilled items.

The staff is very good, the waiters wile they try, Could learn a bit more info about what they are serving.

Overall its a tad small and they could use some room for more taps. Right now this place is quite awesome. I have spoken to the owner and he seems happy with what he has. (please come to down town sac) Awesome place.

I had heard a lot about this place, i am close and had to check out as this is in my back yard. The owner brent was very knowledgable and friendly. the servers were ok at best as i had to describe several of the offerings that i was looking for that i knew they had however the server did not. The beer draft and bottle selection was great, by far the best in the sacramneto area. Maderes can be the best of the best with a little more focus on the BA type person that would draw a ton of attention to the establishment. Education of the staff is critical, they have the beer but they cannot sell them without proper representation.

Outstanding selection of over 100 bottled beers and 20 tap handles of rotating stock, with a very decent wine selection as well. Service is exceptional from the owner to the bartenders. Food is very good for a beer bar, definately worth a night just for the food. Atmosphere is laid back and relaxed, but could pass for upscale in certain regards. Staff is very knowledgable of their products, serve everything in appropriate if not logo'd glassware, and keep their top shelf items at cellar temps until requested. All offerings are reasonably priced, expecially considering some of the more rare offerings they have on hand.

After two visits, this is our favorite location in the entire Sacramento area.
