Nitro offering at the source served in their standard pub glass. This is, I believe, Shade mountain stout with the addition of vanilla beans and cacao nibs for a Valentine's day treat. The brew pours dark brown with a silky khaki cream head like only nitro can deliver. Solid retention down to the last sip.
The smell is mildly fruity with a dark aspect like raisins/molasses with vanilla and cocoa coming out more as it warms. The dark fruity raison quality was surprisingly bold by even Shade Mountain standards.
The taste is mutually fruity with sticky, creamy vanilla sweetness and chocolate like grain accented by the cacao nib inclusion. A slight mineral adition and earthy roast round out the bitterness and really down-play it. By all means, this is a very approachable and fruity sweet stout.
This is a medium bodied brew with a silky smooth feel of mild carbonation. Effortlessly drinkable and well, downright poundable. Despite how good this was, I think their porter would be a better candidate for the vanilla/cacao addition but you cant argue with this and how good the nitro delivery is. Get this while its there...or maybe its too late already?
