Micro malt pilsner is made with certified organic malt grown in NY state and micro malted by Valley Malt in western MA. The grain bill is 100% of this single malt.
Growler into a matching SGB snifter. The brew appears a clear golden copper color with a white froth that fades leaving soapy lacing effect.
The smell is fruity and floral with a mild hop spice and earthiness with buttery notes of diacetyl and an overall fresh graininess. A little sulfur and cheesiness is present towards the finish.
The taste is also slightly buttery with a fruity to floral hop aspect some and some of that generic sort of footy cheesey notes are present. It is herbal to earthy with spice across the finish from a noble hop feel. It has a very mild bitterness but a caramel buttery grain note persists.
This is a medium to light bodied brew with a light amount of carbonation. It is a pretty solid brew but not wowing. It lacks that snap/crisp finish that the normal pils has that I prefer. However, I think the point of this was to capture the essence of just this malt and it really is showcased here. In that regard, it is well done.
Serving type: growler
