A - Slightly more than a fingers worthy of ridiculously creamy white froth... The color was a severely hazed glowing yellow...

S - Belgian yeast and spices to start... Banana... Candied sugars... Fresh cut grass...

T - Belgian yeast... Spices, namely light clove... Apple... Pear... Some muted candied sugars... Some grassy notes... Solid bready malt base... Perhaps even some toasted malts buried beneath...

M - Medium bodied... Ultra smooth... Slightly creamy... Fairly lively carbonation... Consistent with every sip...

D - A very nice Belgian Strong Pale Ale... Kudos to SGB for pulling this off and you don't see may small operations turning out this quality Belgian offering... I've yet to be disappointed in anything I've tried from SGB and that ain't gonna start now...

Served on-tap at SGBC into a goblet pint.

A - Pours golden yellow, with hints of amber, with a small one finger tall white head leaving very light lacing down the glass.

S - Smells like your typical Belgian blonde with hints of spicy yeast, lemon grass, clove, and the ever present biscuity malt. The candied sugar sweetness comes thru more and more as it warms up. Pretty good so far.

T - A strong dose of bready malt and spicy yeast greets you right off the bat. Once it dies down a bit you can detect some of the lemongrass and candied sugar sweetness. The finish is mostly just biscuity malt. This one has all the flavors to be great, just too much grain and strain in the way.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Very chewy feel with a lingering mix of light spice and bready malt in the finish. This ones feel wore on me quickly.

O - Pretty good stuff. This beer is solid but I doubt I could sit down and drink a few of these. I think my jaw would fall off from all the chewing I would have to do...

Served on-tap at SGBC.

A: The pale ale is an orange-y golden color, hazed over from temperature and a bit of sediment. Despite the darker color, the ale glows in the dark-lit din of the brewpub. A thin white head is on board.

S: The nose has lemongrass and citrus alongside a strong dose of candi sugars. Very sweet, the ale shows off a pear-y twist.

T: The sweetness of the ale comes through immediately, sweet pear and apple alongside fuller sugars. Lemongrass isn't as pronounced as, say, OBBS's Lemongrass Wheat or Bullfrog's Thai PA but it still registers. The ale has a medium body, not too filling despite the ample flavors. The strength rarely gets in the way.

M: The mouthfeel is dominated by lemongrass and sweet fruit flavors before the malts balance things out. A nice apperitif before Owen's RIS.

A-Hazed golden copper with a thin white head that leaves spotty lace.

S-Light spiciness, touch of lemongrass and a fruitiness of apple/pear. Lightly sweet biscuit malt backing.

T-More flavour profile present than aroma belies. Pleasant spicy zip and fruit flavours dominate the biscuit sweetness. Ends with a building dry finish.

M-Medium-light bodied fairly sharp and crisp with good lingering spiciness.

D-A lot more going on than you would think. Easy to drink and very approachable. My pint vanished quickly.

On tap at SGB on 5/2/09. Listed as a Belgian-style Blonde Ale. I listed this as an american Blonde because there was no listing for Belgian Blonde Ale.

A - Hazy pale golden body with an unfiltered appearance and slim off-white head that virtually vanished and left no lacing.

S - Belgian candy sugar, spicy yeast and sweet malt comprise the initial aroma of this Belgian-inspired Blonde Ale. Clove and coriander spices come to mind, as well as citrus fruits. Some light floral hops also emerge in the backend.

T - Begins with a spicy flavor hinting the aforementioned clove notes, but balanced by a sweeter honey character and candi sugars. A subtle hop character evolves in the middle, with light citrus and floral notes. Finishes with a sweet caramel malt character in the midst of some mild funk and a faint hop bite.

M - Medium body with a syrupy texture and moderate carbonation. Touch of sourness in the finish with a mild bitterness on the palate.

D - Really easy-drinking Belgian ale with plenty of flavor and subtle complexities that makes for a pleasant warm weather beer.
