I had this at the Brew Pub. Served in a sample glass.

Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy amber color with a hint of gold. There is a layer of off white head that fades quickly but leaves some lacing on the glass.

Smell: I'm getting a nice bready malt flavor with enough hops to balance it out. The hops seem quite fresh and full of citrus peel bitterness.

Taste: The hops are definitely the star here. I'm getting a fresh hop citrus peel bitterness. This reminds me of a west coast style IPA, kind of like a Daisy Cutter. Some bready malt to balance things out. The finish is quite bitter.

Mouthfeel: The body is medium with tingles of carbonation. The finish isn't as dry as I thought it should be.

Overall: I would have liked some more carbonation, but the flavor is fantastic. The west coast hop profile was a win. I'd definitely have more in the future.

A Happy belated birthday visit to my favorite nearby brewpub, Friday Sept 28th

Had a glass of the American Pale Ale from the tap.

Pale amber coloring. excellent white head, which retained all the way down (Admittedly this was downed somewhat faster than usual) leaving decent lacing.

Nice hoppy aroma.

Taste was excellent, probably the best of the 5 I tried that night. (Grabbed a growler to go)

Mouth was comfortable. (Still haven'ty got the hang of reviewing mouthful)

Overall, a very good offering. The growler didn't last the weekend.

Served on-tap at the brewpub.

A - Pours golden amber orange with a nice one finger tall white head leaving small rings of lace down parts of the glass.

S - Smells of caramel, pine, mildly toasted grain and some dulled citric fruit and hops. Not as hoppy as in the past, I think this might have been the bottom of the keg.

T - Starts off with some sweet caramel quickly giving way to dulled citric fruit, grassy hops and the bready grains. The hops and fruit have really fallen off from what I have experienced in the past. Finish is a little sweet with some lingering bitterness.

M - Medium-Light body with moderate carbonation. Malty, bitter feel from start to finish.

O - I really liked this one when I had is on cask and while this version was still good it lacked the bright hops I have come to expect from it. I will have to try it again next time I am up there.

First had: cask at the brewpub

I sampled the Priestly Pale and found this cask ale to be much better. I'm not sure if they're made using the same base or what.

Poured a hazy yellow-orange with a small but dense white head that retained as a ringlet. Nice hit of citrusy hops in the aroma, with a distant biscuitiness in the background. More pleasant citrus notes in the taste, some tropical fruits, caramel malt sweetness coming in to take the edge off, followed by an encore of citrusy hops for a balanced and dry finish. Medium body, and quite drinkable. Not bad at all.
