From notes: On-Tap @ The Brewpub. I've recently really been thinking about all the Tripels being produced these days and I could not really think of one better than this. Definately in the top 3 tripels if you ask me. Dark viscous golden with a nice cap of bright white foam that lasts and leaves excellent Belgian lacing, of course. Aromas are all candy sugar, Belgian yeast notes, funky spices (coriander et al), and of course that wonderful fruitiness. All of these things carry through in the taste and the alcohol content is really un-noticed as far as I can see. Mouthfeel is medium bodied>thick, quite viscous and coating for a tripel actually, but it works very well. Drinkability is off the hook and exceptional considering the style and the abv level. A classy, classic triple. Stealth indeed in the fact that it isn't on tap often enough on the pub. I think it was a year round at one point, but not anymore...is that the story? Either way, if you see it, drink it...

Taster at brewery. Deep golden pour, cloudy, ring of head. Yeasty aroma, bready. Taste is buttery, bready, yeasty, orange, zesty, zippy. Creamy mouth feel.

Tap at the source.
Mostly clear deep golden color with a smallish white head. Rich honey maltiness with plenty of pepper and clove to counter. Smooth deceivingly easy to drink, great triple.

I picked up this insulated growler at the brewpub, enjoyed chilled from the tulip

The color is sunny golden with thick haze and 2+ fingers of bone white head which condenses to a ring of beads with visible carbonation/head revives when swirled leaving spots of lace. The smell has a slight vegetal aroma up front yet sweet malt odor reminiscent of candy sugar with light floral hop accent and decent smell of pils malt with light alcohol ester and tropical element with mild yeast fruitiness and spice. The feel is moderately full with medium carbonation medium sweetness w/ slight spice in the yeast texture with subtle fruity tanginess of belgian yeast with mild alcohol in the feel toward the dry finish.

The taste has a lovely malt taste up front with light toast followed by sweet candy sugar and mild yeast fruitiness with slight tropical almost banana acccent with more alcohol taste in the finish as it warms which is not overpowering just noticeable. Overall I consider this a solid American take on the Belgian style in fact it is one of the more subtle as far as alcohol in taste -a pretty drinkable strong pale with nice Belgian yeast flavor
