This place has been on my radar for a while, being one of the older brew pubs in Pennsylvania, and having the top spot for Pennsylvania beers on RateBeer. Unfortunately the kriek was not on tap. The belgians were all good as was the IPA. Great service, very local clientele. This place really exudes an English pub vibe, which is what I think they were going for. Includes a nice little beer garden just outside the door. There is food available, their chicken curry salad is really good.

Hidden gem on a back alley of the main drag. Rustic little bar seats maybe 6, with tables in adjoining rooms and on a small patio by the entrance. Only six beers on tap, I had the IPA which was solid. Did not try the food.

Visited on a Friday early evening. Sat at the bar by myself. Based on my visits and observations of the local area this was the best craft brewery/beer bar.

V - Quaint and clean. Dark in the bar area. Located in the back below an inn.

Sel - A decent selection including an APA, IPA, kriek, stout, and even a Scottish ale. I had the Scottish Ale, IPA and APA. 4.0

Ser - Sat at the bar. Excellent service and conversation. 4.0

Qual - NIce glasses but served a bit too cold. 4.0

F - Did not eat.

This small brewery is located in downtown Selinsgrove, Penna. It features both indoor and outdoor seating. The bar area is small and dimly lighted and has the feel of an old fashioned Pennsylvania tavern. The outdoor area is also small but pleasant. There is another room with tables. The food is well-prepared and tasty. There are 7-8 beers on draught. The quality of the beer ranges from okay to excellent. The servers are friendly. Overall, this establishment is a nice place to enjoy fine, locally produced beer. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor seating.

Vibe:
Cozy, dimly lit, quieter than most, but still laid back and comfortable. Locals seem nice. We brought our 2 year old and she was acting up a bit at first (yeah, we're "those people"). I'd say it's probably not the best of places for toddlers or restless kids, but it's otherwise family friendly. Ambiance is real quaint and has a log cabin kind of feel.

Quality:
What to say? The beers are AWESOME. Everything we had here (and we tried it all) ranged from good to great to OMFG. Two, not one but two, beers we had here were rated close to 5's and had me thinking "this might be the best *whatever* style beer I've ever had. With my ratings over 1,000, that's a feat these days.

Service:
Service was good, but not outstanding. Food came out quickly.

Selection:
The beers on tap should be enough to satisfy anyone's preferences. When I went they had a pilsner, a marzen, cream ale, scotch ale, a pumpkin, pale ale, IPA, stout, and so on. They only thing that is hit or miss is the English Beer Machine thingy... basically it's natural carbonation served warmer than typical, in the English style. Awesome option to have at all, but sadly wasn't available at the time.

Food:
Food is pub food, but very good pub food. The pretzels are awesome (as they should be in PA!). We got some pastrami sliders on pretzel rolls that really hit the spot and paired perfectly with our beers. For what it is, it's great.

Love this place, dark with plenty of character. Lunch on a Thursday afternoon consisted of me at the bar with a few local regulars telling stories. Good variety of beer, not a pumpkin fan but their Pumpkin Ale on Nitro is a must try if you are in the area. Food menu is mostly vegetarian and deli meat based, what I had was quite good though. Will always stop by when I'm in the area in the future.

Stopped in here last week while on vacation with the family. Old stone building entrance in the back. About 4 tables outside where we sat and maybe twice as many inside with a small bar along the back wall. This place is tiny. Somewhere around 15 on the tap list but almost half were crossed out including everything with Pale in the name. I later found out there was a brew fest in town and maybe thats why their menu seemed so sparse. Anyhow I had a sampler and the beer that was available was top notch! The menu is small but varied and interesting, hummus of the day, and my sandwich were quite good. Great value and attentive staff, I'd be a regular if I lived a bit closer.

I love this place!!! Charming old-world Tavern feeling inside but limited seating so you may have to wait a bit for a table.... but the wait is worth it. Staff is very friendly and helpful when answering questions about the beer. The beer is outstanding (especially the Dunkelweizen!) and the food is very good, too.

The best part besides the beer is the atmosphere. Very old underground english pub kind of feel. The beer is amazing and the food is fresh and local.

My hometown brewpub. World class, consistent top-quality beers, both standards and seasonals. Beer engine as well as kegs and as authentic a Colonial experience as you will find anywhere. American Pale Ale, Shade Mountain Stout and Wit compare with anyone anywhere. Small but memorable.

I had the opportunity to stop here while passing through on business and if you're not watching closely, it would be easy to miss. The bar area is in the downstairs of the building, small and intimate, yet cozy. If you are a hop head their IPA is amazing. The food menu is solid with sandwiches, appetizers and salads. The only downside is the location because Selinsgrove is "off the beaten path" so to speak but well worth the short drive south of I-80 to get there. Recommended stop.

Years ago, the wife and I drove from Harrisburg to Buffalo and fell in love with the mighty Susquehanna. So now that we live in Philadelphia PA, a trip to the area was a must.

We caught a sunset by the river and then stopped in Selinsgrove. The brewpub is in an old, quaint building in the main thoroughfare, down the stairs and into a cozy, dimly-lit space. Something like drinking a beer in an old colonial tavern.

They had 13 taps plus 1 cider when I visited, but 5 of the handles had kicked, including a Sour Peche aged two years and a Kriek Sour Cherry. They offer 4-oz pours, I like that. I tried the Triple, Extra Stout and Centennial IPA. Other styles on tap include Cream, Scottish, Wit, Porter...

We liked the food even better than the beer. Lots of veggie options! Portabella sandwich was great, and the local cheese plate the wife ordered was outrageous. Local honey to die for, and so was the bread.

I would come back for the food more than the beer, but all in all a good experience.

I went there today for the first time this afternoon. Really nicely done basement bar, beautiful, subtle woodwork and brick. A few beer lovers at the bar talking beer.
The beers I had were outstanding. Cream Ale and Stout. The Snake Drive Stout really stood out. It was hopped up a bit over most Irish stouts and the charred malt was very in your face. Perfectly balanced, smooth and drinkable.
The service was great. Beer savvy bartenders who know beer. Very attentive and seemed to enjoy their job!
The selection rating took a hit because they were out of throne beer I went there to try.
The food is not bad but the selection is very vegetarian leaning…I like meat! There were only a small number of meat containing dishes and they were cold cut sandwiches and a Gyro. I had the Gyro, it was not great but I wouldn't go there hungry again.
Overall this place lived up to the hype as a great central PA beer destination!

Stepping into the past is what it's like to eat and drink here. You can just imagine candles burning brightly as plans for the American Revolution are laid out with good food and grog. We did a beer samples and finished the evening with a chocolate dessert and some great beers.

I love this place. In the basement of a 200 + year old mansion. Great little patio with torches and hops growing on a trellis in the summer. And the beer is always top notch. They make some wonderful sours and darks.

Stopped here last night on my way up to Rochester. Only had one beer, the Framboise, which was amazing. I really wanted to try more beers (and they're all available as 4-oz pours for $1-2) but since I was driving it'll have to wait for another time. Didn't try any food but people seemed to be enjoying it. Located in a rustic, historical building. I can't wait to stop again and sample more of their beers.

Edit after visit 9-4-2015: Tried 7 more of their beers including Saison de Peche (delicious!) and my wife and I ordered food as well. We ordered 3 of the (enormous) soft pretzels which were served with spicy mustard. I'd prefer beer cheese dip, but the mustard was fine. My wife got the BLT which was served on a brioche bun with potato salad on the side; both were above average. Service was good so I'm bumping my rating up a couple of notches.
