I love this place. In the basement of a 200 + year old mansion. Great little patio with torches and hops growing on a trellis in the summer. And the beer is always top notch. They make some wonderful sours and darks.

Stopped here last night on my way up to Rochester. Only had one beer, the Framboise, which was amazing. I really wanted to try more beers (and they're all available as 4-oz pours for $1-2) but since I was driving it'll have to wait for another time. Didn't try any food but people seemed to be enjoying it. Located in a rustic, historical building. I can't wait to stop again and sample more of their beers.

There's a reason this is THE place to be, and it starts with the atmosphere and ends with the menu. By far the best place in the area to get a drink.

Could have sworn I reviewed this place a few years back. Perhaps it got lost, or I failed to hit the review button.

I've been coming here wich 2007, when my daughter entered Susquenahha University in town. Just love the place.

Atmosphere is always excellent. A small pub feel on the main street through town. , with low ceilings, lottsa beams. The perfect home from home for an Brit like me. Small and larger tables inside and out, many with old church pews as seating. Place is small, so can get pretty packed at times. Try to hit on off hours. Open Weds-Sun, early closing on Sunday.

Bar area is small. Staff was sometimes a problem in the early years I was coming here, but has been exceptional for many years now. All are helpful and knowledgable about both beer and food. Parking is on street, or a small parking area behind thee pub. This lot gets full quickly in the evenings. Be careful not to park in the adjacent parking for the Doctors offices. They ticket and tow. I've never found it difficult to get closeby street parking, even at busy times.

Quality and selection here is also excellent. Some solid year round offerings, with a good number of rotating brews, and more recently, special one-off beers. Usually 7-10 beers on tap. Sometimes run low, because of the small batches they brew, and a run on one can lead to some cross offs on the menu. They do have a website, where you can check availabilty, but it isn't always up to date. (though the list will have an "as of". date) Call ahead if there is something particular you hope to find.

Food can be anywhere between fantastic and just okay. Mostly around the very good mark. Weekly specials are where they really shine. Recently had a lamb stew which led to me clamoring for an extra serving. Some of the sandwiches could use a litle extra seasoning. But you can build your own sandwich fom the menu list, which is fun to do. They also use a lot of local produce and cheeses.

Overall, I wish I lived closer (75-90 minutes) My daughte graduated in 2011, so I don't have an extra reason for coming here. Oh, wait, of course,...

The beer!

This place has a great atmosphere: small, loaded with personality, and more taps than you'd expect for the size. It was tucked away on the main street of a small town (or at least on the small town side of the road it's on on the other side of a bridge). The staff was very nice, if maybe slightly inattentive (SLIGHTLY). I only tried the IPA, which was good enough that I felt that buying a growler was necessary.

Overall, this place is certainly worth a visit.

Went here on Mother's Day 2014. Atmosphere is sort of clubby, in the basement of a former PA Governor's residence. They had 10 beers on tap plus a cider Otto's in State College. Tried everything they had and found the Kriek (easily a five starrer), Cream Ale and Organic Pilsener to be the tops. They'll fill anyone's growler but no bottles (thought I'd seen one somewhere). Food is mainly sandwiches with a rotating entree (good, non-seafood Jambalaya). Definitely worth a detour if you're headed to mid-PA.
