First time visiting this place. I went in with pretty high expectations after reading reviews. I would say overall I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't extremely impressed either. The place was alot smaller than expected but had a cozy local-watering hole feel to it. However, it was more expensive than most small town brew pubs, especially for central PA. The food here is clearly an afterthought. The menu is small and unappealing with no real pub food to be found. I get the feeling that if it weren't for PA laws, they wouldn't even serve food. The soft pretzel and mustard was pretty good though and the local cheese plate was decent, but pricey. Selection was pretty good for the size of the place. After having the sampler, I decided on a growler fill of the IPA and the Baltic Porter. Only after getting my bill did I realize the porter was a staggering $20 for a 2L takeout. It was good but I would've picked something else at a more reasonable price if I had checked the price sheet. The IPA, the Baltic and the Saison de Peche, which had great flavor, were top notch. However, I thought their other brews were rather pedestrian and overpriced. Especially the organic pilsner, which was my least favorite. That said, alot of their highly regarded brews like Framboise, Wee Heavy and Kriek were not available while I was there, so I'll visit again to get the whole experience. Despite it's shortcomings in a few areas, I can recomend this place because the IPA is reason enough to stop in.

Could have sworn I reviewed this place a few years back. Perhaps it got lost, or I failed to hit the review button.

I've been coming here wich 2007, when my daughter entered Susquenahha University in town. Just love the place.

Atmosphere is always excellent. A small pub feel on the main street through town. , with low ceilings, lottsa beams. The perfect home from home for an Brit like me. Small and larger tables inside and out, many with old church pews as seating. Place is small, so can get pretty packed at times. Try to hit on off hours. Open Weds-Sun, early closing on Sunday.

Bar area is small. Staff was sometimes a problem in the early years I was coming here, but has been exceptional for many years now. All are helpful and knowledgable about both beer and food. Parking is on street, or a small parking area behind thee pub. This lot gets full quickly in the evenings. Be careful not to park in the adjacent parking for the Doctors offices. They ticket and tow. I've never found it difficult to get closeby street parking, even at busy times.

Quality and selection here is also excellent. Some solid year round offerings, with a good number of rotating brews, and more recently, special one-off beers. Usually 7-10 beers on tap. Sometimes run low, because of the small batches they brew, and a run on one can lead to some cross offs on the menu. They do have a website, where you can check availabilty, but it isn't always up to date. (though the list will have an "as of". date) Call ahead if there is something particular you hope to find.

Food can be anywhere between fantastic and just okay. Mostly around the very good mark. Weekly specials are where they really shine. Recently had a lamb stew which led to me clamoring for an extra serving. Some of the sandwiches could use a litle extra seasoning. But you can build your own sandwich fom the menu list, which is fun to do. They also use a lot of local produce and cheeses.

Overall, I wish I lived closer (75-90 minutes) My daughte graduated in 2011, so I don't have an extra reason for coming here. Oh, wait, of course,...

The beer!
