This whole foods isn't the best. I have, however, run into some serious stuff here on occasion. I think because it is meager in comparison to it's chandler counterpart, people over look it and you can walk in there and magically come out 1upped.

This happened to me last week... Hopslam was released I managed to get 2 6ers, but the supply dried up everywhere. I walk in this joint to grab some organic ground beef and an Anaheim chile and as I happen upon the beer isle I see the most glorious thing: I shit ton of Hopslam. I talk to stocking dude and he says they weren't even supposed to get any and that this just showed up an hour before I arrived... I ask if there's a limit, he says no, I walk out with 2 cases of Hopslam at 16 bucks a 6 to boot.

I usually do the whole foods, for the foods. I can rely on the place for decent food selection, what I need to carry around (crackers and water) on pubcrawls and breakfeast day-afters, and a place to ear with sterile cuttlery. Some of the whole foods are becoming serious beer store contenders, however not this one. This is a smaller Whole Foods by any consideration. Decent selection if you live nearby and are walking or biking over for a couple beers for supper, hwoever a short drive takes to to far superior selection at Tops or Papago bar/store.

The grand opening of the new Whole Foods Market in Tempe off Ray Rd and 101 Freeway gave way for some upscale shopping and very needed larger beer selection for the south Tempe area.
Upon the first month of business Whole foods offered a fairly large selection of individual 12 oz beers as well as decent selection of growlers.
Since the opening they've changed their selection options. Your no long allowed to pick and choose individual 12 oz bottles at your discretion, your now forced to the six pack option which they have a decent variety in.
Where they've really picked up the slack is in the growler selection, offering a massive selection and variety of american and import growler bottles you typicall will not find in any grocery store setting.
The store is clean well maintained and the staff is incredible! Linger around the beer selection long enough and not only will one of the specialist more than likely chat with you of their experiences in flavor.

Whole Foods has a lot of things going for it: clean, organized, wealthy clientele, and plenty more.

There are some good beers to be found at the WF in Tempe, but I'm really not overly impressed. Some singles and bombers to be found, but you can't break up six packs which are the majority of the beers to be found. Even the bombers they have are pretty standard fare.

I'm sure the folks working there are knowledgeable and friendly, but there's never been anyone around when I've been there.

The prices at Whole Foods are acceptable but not as good as a liquor store - I would say that unless you're already shopping for food, don't bother with WF.
