Keep in mind, these scores are based on comaprisons to what is around in Tennessee.

Just off of one of the main roads through Franklin, not more than 1/2 mile from I-65. Located in a grocery store shopping center. Walk in and the store has a very nice feel to it. Primarily wine and liquor like any other liquor store in TN. Walk to the back and they have a couple of big coolers of micros/imports as well as a few big shelves full to the right. Easily one of the broadest selections I have found in Tennessee. Nice selection of Stone, Left Hand, Great Divide, Bluegrass Brewing, Terrapin, Oskar Blues as well as a wide array of Belgians. Only place I have found that has the Left Hand/Terrapin Terra-Rye'zd as well as the 2008 Terrapin Big Hoppy Monster. Asked the guys at the counter about Gamma Ray and they knew nothing about it but assured me that if it was to come available in Middle Tennessee they would get it. They seem to be happy yo stock anything at least once. Store had nice dim lighting and beer was well away from any sunlight. Prices were right in line with anywhere else in Middle TN. Definitley worth stopping by if you are down in the Franklin area and I might even go so far as saying it would be worth the 30 minute drive down from Nashville.

Stopped here on a visit to Franklin. Very nice shop with very good selection. The guy working there very knowledgeable and a big help...and loves to talk beer, my kind of place. I was looking for beers from the local area and he pointed me to many goodies. This place is worth getting to.

Awesome bottle shop in Franklin, TN. I am always sure to stop by at this shop whenever I am in town. While there are other shops in Franklin with good craft beer, I have found that Red Dog has most everything they do as well as bigger selection. They have a pretty nice selection of refrigerated beers which is nice if you are looking for something to drink soon. I really like the people that work at Red Dog and they seem to know a good bit about their beer selection, which is often rare in liquor stores. Additionally, if you are interested in buying spirits, they let you taste before you buy! Overall, a great shop and one that will always have my dollars when I am in the area.

Stopped by here while in town for a wedding. Just off of 65 and very easy to find; which I knew that last time I passed through this way, I would have visited earlier.

Red Dog is located in a strip mall next to a Publix. Open Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday. They sell a mix of beer, wine and liquor. The atmosphere is very cool, wood floors and rack with coolers in the back next to a tasting bar. The interior is very dim and has a cozy feel to it.

I looked through all of the beer and all seemed to be high quality and in date. Approximately 1/3 is in coolers and 2/3 is at room temperature. They have an entire shelf of singles; it looks like most everything available in a 4 or 6 pack is also available as a single.

Service is friendly and knowledgeable. I told the individual with whom I spoke that I was in town from Ohio and looking to pick up some beer that didn't make it up there. He pointed out all the new arrivals and talked about distribution for a bit.

The selection was good to great. We are lucky in Ohio to get a little bit of everything from all over, so there was not much here that I could not get; mainly Terrapin, Schlafly and Red Brick. Apart from that, there was a good mix of everyday craft six packs and bombers and 750s of limited production stuff.

All in all, a great stop and a sure repeat for me next time I am on 65.

After living in the Nashville are for over 20 years , I finally checked this place out. I am really glad I did too. As soon as my brother in law and I walked in we commented on the ambiance, nice dimmed lighting and a sweet set up. When we walked to the beer section the first thing we saw happened to be a stash of Terrapin's Wake and Bake from last year. SCORE! Even though we didn't capitalize on this, we did take advantage of the RED TAG HALF OFF DEAL. I don't think I need to emphasize on the fact of getting beer for half off, that is just too F-ing NICE!!! The staff was super friendly, and the selection was pretty damn nice. RED DOG is a must if you are visiting the Franklin area.

Though all 5's normally would mean it's the best beer store in the world, Red Dog is not. I gave Red Dog a perfect score because in the constraints of it's budget, consumer base, and distribution, Red Dog is perfect. It's in a location that is easy to access but doesn't have so much traffic that beer flies off the shelf. They don't let anything that shouldn't sit around gather dust, if it's on the brink they put it on sale. The tastings are great, they always have at least one good beer even at the wine tastings, and have weekly beer tastings that are incredibly generous. Their selection comprises all Nashville has to offer and the aesthetics are superb, the place has a great feeling of reserved class, but the employees are very down to earth and not pretentious in the least. A great stop, in town or not.

Located in a strip mall, there's plenty of parking and this place is nicely accessible from I-65 as well... The brews are located in the back corner of the store but I can say there were plenty of them... There were several coolers filled with beer and also several shelves loaded with some good offerings... Lots of Wake and Bake still available there and I also picked up some Tomfoolery as well as a damn nice mixed sixer of brews along with a Vrienden from New Belgium... A very nice store and the service was friendly... Recommended if you're in the area...

Nice little shop. They push the beer in the corner, and as I tentatively walked up, expecting the worst, I was greatly surprised to find releases that I haven't seen anywhere else... sierra nevada 30th anniversary, big daddy vladdy and so fresh and so green, aaaand andygator. Very excited. Friendly but not so knowledgeable staff. Prices were about right.. very comfortable surroundings, well lit and nicely upkept.

I bought quite a bit and plan on coming back soon. The only thing I could find to scrutinize was that the staff didn't know as much about beer to keep a conversation going... even still... Very backed shop.

Red Dog is, by far, the best place for high ABV beers in Franklin/Brentwood.

The quality is great because all of the beers are kept far away from sunlight, and I haven't seen any dating issues as of yet. That, and they are clearly laid out in a very orderly fashion. Are you listening, Midtown?

Service is awesome. I wanted a certain beer as a single, so they split it for me. They have a decent singles section as it is, which is always a draw for me.

Selection rivals Midtown in Nashville. It may fall short by a little, but the setup is so much better that I'd just rather go here. It just has such a clean feel to it all.

And prices are pretty standard. Sometimes they're the cheapest, sometimes not. But never outlandish.

Red Dog Liquors in Franklin, Tn. is a cut or two above the average Mom and Pop liquor store. It did appear to me to have a large wine selection but after Barefoot and Yellow Tail I ma lost there. I was there March 24th, 2010 looking at beer and Scotch single malts. Decent selection of single malts. More than I expected for a strip center store. Not overwhelming though. I was at first really impressed with the beer selection until I got to looking closely at it. Many of the ales at least were well outdated. My own fault here but I got so carried away when I saw the Ola Dubh at six something a bottle for the 12 year old issue that I did not check the date. Later at the hotel when I decided to have it as my nightcap and tasted what had become a rather amorphous liquid with out much taste did I look at the date. It had been bottled in September 2007. It tasted like it too. Anyway too many of their beers were old. Caveat Emptor@

I just moved to the Franklin area from the outskirts of the slums of Antioch and ended up being within walking distance of Red Dog. Similar to the other reviewers, I was very impressed. It's close to the interestate, and very easy to get in and out of. For Tennessee, they have a great selection of high ABV beer. I spent about 20 minutes just drooling over various beer. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and quite happy to hear that I had found the place through BA. I chatted with them for about 15 minutes, and they seemed quite knowledgeable. Needless to say, I'll be a frequent customer.

I stopped at this store on the way back from Nashville. If I ever take a beer run to the Nashville area, I could easily spend all my money here and save the hassle of Nashville traffic. This place had a couple beers still hanging around that I didn't see at Midtown in Nashville, but definitely had some new arrivals as well.

They had Schafly Reserve for $2 bucks cheaper than Midtown. I had to pick up another Imperial Stout, as I am a sucker for bourbon stouts. they had a few more oddball beers here.

I would check the dates on some of the IPAs and such to make sure I'm not burning myself, but the employee's seemed nice enough to care if you pointed out an expired beer.

The vibe of this store was really cool. Very dimly lit with a very spacious layout. Seemed like a nice lounge that I would enjoy having a few beers at. A nice surprise, considering its location between a Publix and mexican restaurant. the publix next door had a good selection of under 6% beers, if you want a 6er of some sessionable stuff.
