This place is now Proof Bottle Shop owned and operated by the same owners. I have frequented these establishments since the Liquor Loft days and they have improved significantly.

The Tallahassee beer scene is improving, but it still has a long way to go. This is one of the Top 3 bottle shops in town. But that's not really saying much. Most of their stock is routine stuff widely available. That's not their fault.... Like the other shops in town, these guys are limited by what they can get from their distributors. Nothing they can do about it. So this is not a place to go way out of your way for. That said, I have usually been able to find some good Cigar City selections when I've visited.

I stopped in while in town on business to check out the selection. They have a nice atmosphere though the beer is isolated well in the back. I was pleased to see two each from Crooked Stave and Drie Fonteinen. They also had several from Cigar City though unfortunately not as singles. The selection as a whole is solid though limited in numbers. It's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Been a long time customer, this place has changed significantly over the few years it has been open. Clean, upscale atmosphere to the store. Staff members are friendly and knowledgeable about selection, and craft brews in general. Selection is the best in town, and is great though not earth shattering. Breweries organized by west to east coast, good selection of singles, make your own 4/6 packs, etc. If Tallahassee gets distribution, this place carries it at some point. Some stock rotates, other brews are staples and can consistently be found. Never had an issue with freshness, and its always nice to have a shop attached to a bar with 50 taps where you can try something and purchase it next door.

NOTE: its now called the bottle shop, not Liquor Loft.

Atmosphere: easy to navigate, clean, and organized. A very inviting booz store to say the least.

Quality: only the best here. this palce really kicks up a extra shelf to quality, and to conserve on space they do only have the best of the best of cheap, medium, and premium liquors (and a GREAT selection of Burbon.

Their beer stores are paralleled to none. it is the ultimate stop for a whiskey or beer lover.

Service: where the Bottle Shop Really Shines. their staff are all knowledgeable on beer and liq our, and will talk about it at length and help you make the best choice. Best staff workers in town for a booz store.

Selection: Best beer selection in town, but can be quite limited for everything else due to their small size for stocking booz.
If you shopping for beer head here, if your looking for a cheaper off brand for a party Id recommend ABC

Food: N/A

Value: Reasonable. they have a upcharge on certain things, but you find good deals here and their, and for beer, their the best in town.

their value card system will get you 5% back on all your purchases, which helps lower costs some, and their great service and atmosphere help offshoot its prices

Overall: one of the best in town. It has absolute advantage in the beer department, but ABC has the comparative advantage of slightly lower prices, if they do have crummier service.

Come here and you will get the best of what you where looking for, thats all I can say about it.

Atmosphere - I was in a hurry and wish I could have spent a bit more time in the store, but it was inviting and I had no trouble finding the stacked section of beer; the only knock would be the limited parking space

Quality - I didn't check every single bottle of beer, but those that I picked up were fresh; up to date seasonals

Service - I was asked several times if I needed help or assistance with making a selection or finding what I wanted/needed and when I checked out I was asked if I found what I was looking for and given a rewards card that was hassle free with just a quick scan no bunch of paper work mess

Selection - The best I have seen in Tallahassee; they carry beer that is not offered at any other location and allow you to build your own six pack

Wow, what a gem!!! Great find nestled in florida state university. A liquor/beer store attached to a bar! Built in awesomeness!

Selection is the best in the area. They carry over 600 brews at any given time and up to almost 900 depending on season.

Beer board is constantly updated and the waitstaff if very knowledgable not to mention extremely helpful.

Being able to sample a new brew in one side and purchase either a single or multiples makes this place one of my favorites.

Supposedly a very busy place but i was lucky enough to be gere right after finals.

Add this to your list if you are anywhere near and appreciate great beer.

This is sort of a liquor loft/proof review. Liquor loft has the most varied beer selection in all of Florida. They have everything from dogfish head to belgian trappist ales. Their prices are very reasonable and it is the only place in Tallahassee that I ever bought beer from. Proof, the bar attached to liquor loft, is just as amazing. They always have amazing and rare beers on tap. The prices are very reasonable as well. My only complaint is that the bar is too small and it is always crowded. I graduated from FSU in 2009 and have not been back since, but Liquor loft/proof is where it's at!!!

Liqour Loft has a great election, especially for a small college town. The beer selection is located in the back of the store. There is a big wall of singles on one side and a large wall of coolers on the other side loaded with six packs.

Most of the great craft breweries available in the state of FL are available here including Cigar City, Southern Tier, Bell's, Stone, Brooklyn, Great Divide, Lagunitas, Dogfish Head and a ton of other great breweries.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and didn't just stand behind the register like many other places. My only regret is that I didn't get to check out Proof which is a bar that is literally connected to the Liqour Loft. I will definitely stop in next time.

Overall, if you're in Tallahasse this is a must stop location for craft beer. Recommended!

I am honestly glad I stopped here on my way home from Orlando. I cannot stress to you how awesome this place is.

Atmosphere: The place is small but adequate for the product they have. I'm pretty sure they had wine and liquor but honestly didn't check as I was only interested in the beer which was around the corner.

Quality: GREAT selection. If it is available in Florida these guys do their damndest to get it in. I saw Southern Tier, Terrapin, Victory, Magic Hat and all sorts of other beers.

Service: These guys were amazing. The two employees that were there were very engaging and extremely knowledgeable about the product. Even made great recommendations. I left to eat lunch next door and came back to take pictures for my blog and they ended up calling Byron who came down to the store. Very cool!

Selection: As I said earlier, EXCELLENT. Perhaps worth skipping anything in the Panhandle to make a trip over here. They showed me the bar next door, Proof and oh my God it was awesome. About 25 beers on tap and they were great. I even saw some Swamp Head beer which is new to the area.

I stopped in on July 4 and quickly met the proprietor, Byron. What a great guy. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable, he was eager to assist me. The other gentleman that was working (sorry dude, I don't remember your name) was also very helpful. I really liked the selection and the great customer service. The only downside was that their taproom wasn't open yet when I went and I couldn't hang around until it did. But that little snafu was made up for by the fantastic customer service I got.

Its a small place, but has a very nice selection and the prices are very reasonable, right in line with what I expected.

The parking lot is a bit small, but that is nitpicking. This is a great store run by great folks. If you're in the area, don't pass it by. Make sure to stop in.

Very good selection both cold & unchilled. I was able to fine all my favorites while visiting my son at FSU. Picked up a 4 Pack of the new Samuel Adams Imperial Series - This Russian Imperial Stout had just hit retail stores in Mid-March and they had it on 3/22/09. They will also order anything they don't stock at no additional cost.

The walk in cooler is very large and has a great selection all the way up to kegs.

The singles have a sticker on the bottle cap which corresponds to a price list on the wall.

They also have a large selection of 22oz "Bombers".

Travelled to the Liquor Loft from south Georgia to try and get some beers that aren't sold in Georgia.

Quality is good. All of the singles are right out front in a display, and six packs and some other 750 mL are in coolers in the back. Seems as if some sunlight could hit the singles considering it's right in front of the front doors when you walk in, but it was almost dark when I got there so it may not.

Service is great, had someone walk up right after I walked in and ask if I needed help. Knew a good amount about everything - what was in, when they got stuff that wasn't in. One of my better service experiences.

Selection is good. I think only two coolers out front had non-craft/foreign beer in them. Very good singles selection as well.

Overall there were only a few things that I wanted that they didn't have, and all of them were seasonals. I've also been to two ABC's and a Market Square and this was easily the largest selection.

During the end of my undergrad at FSU, this by far was the place to go. As Publix and Albertsons carried some pretty heavy duty stuff, Liquor Loft by far exceeded my expectations and introduced me to beer I'd never even heard of.

On top of the awesome selection, the staff are wonderful, friendly and really know their game when it comes to alcohol. The best element is the appearance; you'd think you'd be going into a spotless nightclub at times instead of just a local liquor store.

While the parking lot is terrible, as it meets at a stoplight, the store without a doubt is great. By far the best, nicest and cleanest place to buy new brews at any given time of the night.

Good location and decent sized store. Easy to find and get to with plenty of parking. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I can't even go in there without being asked if i need help finding anything at least three times. Incredible ever changing selection. They can even order things they don't have in specially for you if you ask them. I do however have a problem with their pick six prices which they basically charge you the individual bottle price per beer instead of the percentage of what it would be in a six pack. It is a little discouraging when you have to drop 20 to 30 bucks on a six pack. I guess they can get away with it though since they have the best selection in town including some rare and hard to find beers.

This place may have vaulted in front of Market Square Liquors for the title of best selection of beers in Tallahassee. However, it comes with a price and a terrible parking lot.

Liquor Loft boasts that it carries more than 500 different beers, and they may just be right. They offer a wide selection of belgian, english and American craft brew. The usually carry beers that no other store in town does as well. On occasion they send out emails letting people know of the new beers they received. The generally carry Jolly Pumpkin, Bells, DFH, Lagunitas, among many, many others.

The store allows you to buy singles of beer, but only from a designated selection that they have. You will pay for the ability to buy only one beer at a time though. If a six pack of beer would normally sell for $7-9, a single of that particular beer will be around $2 (a single of the fairly inexpensive blue moon is $2). This is much higher than other stores in the area. They are getting better at marking the prices of singles using color coded stickers. However, the yellow sticker represents approximately $3.79 and up, and I on occasion I am shocked to find out that a 12 oz beer cost nearly $8.

Liquor Loft is a welcome addition to Tallahassee, and they have brought in numerous new beers to the city. Due to the price though, I almost always stick with Market Square.

I have been going to the Liquor Loft since the day it opened, July 4 2007. I noticed that there was a new store in town and figured "Why not? Can't be worse than other places in town."

Tallahassee is not known as a place for good beer, filled to the brim with college bars that serve buckets of Natty Light and usually the best place to find a good beer around campus has been ABC (I know, it sucked). To get a good selection, one had to travel way across town, and even then, the place was never as good as Liquor Loft is.

"The Loft" (as it is known around town) has raised the bar, and now you can readily find world class brews here in this college town. The Liquor Loft now offers **500+** beers, and the selection is still growing!

I'm about to review my 100th beer on this site, and no fewer than 90 of those beers have come from the Liquor Loft. I visit this place every week, and every time I drop by there's new stuff! The appropriately rotate the beers, and occasionally have some good specials.

Byron, one of the store's co-owners, loves to talk about beer and will chat with you about the good stuff if the store is not too busy. He also takes suggestions and will try to acknowledge special requests and order it if he can. Angela, the other co-owner is super nice and is always around to lend a helping hand. The two do a great job of running the place and train their staff to know a lot about good beer. They occasionally have staff-only tastings (one of which I've been fortunate/lucky enough to participate in) of their products so they know about the beer they're selling. In fact, I heard that BeerAdvocate is required reading for ALL emplyees of the store!

If you're ever in Tallahassee, Liquor Loft is a MUST visit!

This place is awesome! I like to go just to talk to the staff about beers, and they're happy to do it.

They have Tripel Karmeliet, which I've seen in only one other place in Florida, none in Tallahassee. They have pretty much any other kind of beer you'd want, too. All kinds of favorites, like Full Sails, Delirium, a bunch of Sierra Nevadas. They have over 500 different beers!!!

On the liquor side of it, they have pretty much anything you'd need. A bunch of rarer things, too, like Cachaca. Some extremely rare things like Ace of Spades. I've never walked in and not found what I wanted.

Open atmosphere, ambiance, and friendly staff. They have periodical beer tastings, also. Definitely check this place out!

Visited Liquor Loft on the recommendation of several homebrewer friends. We live 100 miles away but must travel to buy good beer because of 6% limit and 16 ounce bottle size restriction. We don't mind, we just spend the money in another state.

Liquor Loft is located in Tallahassee, Florida west of FSU on a divided 4 lane highway. You can't turn in from the west bound lane and its not real easy to u-turn. Make your travel plans accordingly. They don't open until noon on Saturday.

The store is divided between beer, wine and liquor. The beer selection is pretty good for 750ml Belgians and 12 ounce six packs. There are few pints and 22oz bombers. There is an extensive section of broken down 12oz six packs into singles. The idea is you can mix and match a six.

The biggest problem we had was that the prices of the beers were not clearly marked, especially in the 12 ounce singles. We understand what they are trying to do and commend them for encouraging people to try new beers but, it would be a much nicer experience if the beers were clearly marked in price.

The beers we got have all been in excellent condition. Nothing oxidized or out dated yet.

The staff was pleasant and offered to price anything we were not sure about. She did not, however, seem real knowledgeable about the contents of the bottles. There were no discussions about beer styles or interpretations of style to be had. The few shelf talkers were from "Rate Beer.com", we suggested BA instead.

The prices were on the high side of normal. A buck or two more for most Belgian 750s than usual but we did get Jolly Pumpkin and Triple Karmelite so we didn't mind the extra buck or two.

Great to see another quality brew store opening in my hometown to compete with Market Square. Very solid selection with several brews I did not see anywhere else: Meantime IPA and Porter, Brooklyn Octoberfest, Bell's 2-hearted and a couple others.

Had a wall of coolers and a walk-in cooler inside of that. Also had a make-your own six-pack with a couple-dozen quality handpicked brews.

Could have used some more glassware, though they did have some of their own shirts made up. The two people that worked there, husband and wife I believe, seemed very knowledgeable and took time to answer questions. A must stop if looking for great brews in Tally.

If I were closer to this store it would be my place of choice for my beer purchases here in Tallahassee. As it is I've always been rewarded by making the trip across town. Excellent selection, friendly service and the owners Byron and Angela Burroughs are very knowledgeable about beer and take the time to talk at length with you if they aren't stacked up with other customers. Prices are in line with other stores in town and all are in line with the same micros which are also available at local supermarkets like Publix. The walk in cooler is very nice and spans the back of the store while a significant amount of floor space is dedicated to showcasing various Belgians, other imports and micros. A trip right after Christmas 2007 rewarded me with six packs of Great Divide Hibernation and Bell's Amber and this is the only place in town so far I've found DFH Indian Brown and Bell's Two Hearted IPA. Highly recomended.
