However hidden in a second floor of a rather unimpressive building, the Monkey certainly redefined "beer bar" in colombia. it's done the best of what's feasible here in colombia, carrying almost all things decent you can get here (except for the crafts by the BBC or by the Blue Dragon).
the place is somewhat discrete from the outside but the inside is a whole other deal. a bit too compact and gets crowded, but this is a blend between euro-style beer bar and english pub. nice bar layout and decent seating, even if the "terrace" isn't too accessible.
service is conditioned to the time you visit; peak hours are harder to handle but generally it's good.
selection is absolutely commendable. these people have found the true value of sticking a list of imports (decent ones, mind you) instead of trying to fool anyone with a bunch of flags beside a list of international macros. Maybe it's no kulminator, but managing to find a guinness, maudite, paulaner, duvel and trappe at the same place, properly served is no bad deal for me.
didn't try the food.
it's a bit pricey but the place is well worth the visit. it's the only true beer bar around.

Pros: Great place with and awesome atmosphere, magnificent selection of beers, good music and the attention is very good and it's one of the few pubs 100% commited to good beer in Bogota.
Cons: The first time I walked in, I did it because I saw a Guinness sign in the doort, and whern I asked for it the told me they did'nt sold it, I felt kinda decieved. The entrance is a little cold, since you have to go up some stairs that make you feel you're going into an appartment rather than a pub, but when you get in it's all ok. The food could be better.
