Pours out a deep purple-brown, with a tan head that hangs around. Smells of chocolate and coffee with some carmel notes. Tastes very much like coffee, almost halfway to a stout. A little sticky in the mouth, but that doesn't subtract form this beer. A very tasty beer, something like I have never had before.

Pours dark brown, some reddish hues, one finger fluffy tan head that stays around for a while.
Smell of caramel, dark malts, faint cocoa, touch of dark fruit and some ripe banana, salted grains, faint cinnamon, low stewed hops.
Taste starts rather sweet, with watered down chocolate and caramel, hinting a bit of coffee, and decent dark fruit esters, the extra banana and even some apple and cherries. Still, the sweetness isn't syrupy and cloying, but rather flavourful, all on top of toasted grains. Some woody and nut flavours, finishing with low hop bitterness, that's leaving a perfectly dosed sweetness in the aftertaste.
Light, almost watery, smooth carbonation.
Has quite a few different flavours, all nicely integrated, and very (maybe a bit too) quaffable.

What's Inside: A pretty red to brown with dissipating carbonation, light lacing and a medium head that stays at 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

Smell: Slightly sweet, reminiscent of banana bread, chocolate, bison grass. Inviting, but not powerful.

Taste: Mocha, sourdough, bitter hops, a slight citrus entry.

Mouthfeel and More: A very good quality brew. Complex, with a lightness. A nice bit of carbonation without being a bath bomb. A slightly bitter aftertaste.

Overall: This is a schwartz for sure, and it stays true to its class. Make no mistake- this isn't the beast you may expect from a North American brew, but it is solid, well-crafted tradition in a sessionable 4.7%abv. This is a working man's beer that you can drink warm or cold, and it's refreshing each time. An above average brew, a gem in its price point ($2.30/500ml), and one I frequently purchase. Worth a try- just don't expect a monster.

500ml bottle poured into tulip 2/1/12

A clear brownish maroon with a large light tan head that hangs around for a few minuets leaving a few patches of lace

S some brown sugar and molasses with a little banana bread

T a little tea bag to go with what I smell, maybe some wet leaves, decent stuff but not mind blowing

M medium bodied with a good amount of bubbles and just a little sticky on the lips, slightly earthy aftertaste lingers faintly

O not a bad beer but not something I 'd go looking for, worth a try

decent value at 2.50$ for 500ml, I'm a little surprised I've never reviewed this before as I recall trying it a few times before. worth the money so give it a go if presented

500 mL bottle BB 23/11/2011 poured into a Duvel chalice.

Thick and clear dark brown with very little head that disappears. Corny sweetness on the nose with an unnaturally sweet body. Not much else going on here. No solid malt flavours. Meh.

Not looking to drink this one again.

500ml bottle...and weirdly, nowhere on it does it mention Lobkowicz.

This beer pours a clear ruby red-tinged dark amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, tightly foamy, and somewhat creamy ecru head, which leaves some decent layered and streaky webbed lace around the glass in its slow and meandering wake.

It smells of bready, fruity caramel malt, a bit of molasses, and some mild savoury cake spice. The taste is soft caramel malt, kind of dark and sugary, a sort of fruity breadiness, over-steeped tea, and a rather subtle earthy, wet leafy hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite moderate, and generally just manifests as a trilling frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and rather smooth, with a touch of fruity creaminess. It finishes pretty much well off-dry - fruity malt, molasses, and only an echo of earthy hops.

A pleasant enough, old-world dark lager - a seemingly heavy, but not actually so, drinker. And pretty easy on the wallet, so bottoms up, and na zdravi!

I can't believe it's taken me so long to review this brew. I've had a few in my time and have loved every one. Here goes.

It pours into my Duvel Tulip a deep dark brown with ruby highlights when held up to light and displays a frothy tan head that dissipates to a thin film and leaves not much in terms of lacing.

Smells of rich caramel and chocolate malts, coffee, some minerals, grass, a bit of banana and other dark fruit aromas. Nice and complex.

Taste is full of dark fruit and caramel up front with chocolate, toffee and bread following up and nice roasty, nutty flavour on the finish with the bitterness from the hops coming out on the linger.

Mouthfeel is light and very crisp with a slightly creamy texture on the palate as well. Finish is crisp and clean and leaves a tingly feeling in your mouth that begs for another sip.

Drinkability is yet another one of this brew's strong suits. At. 4.7%, I could drink this stuff all day and wouldn't get bored either. A great beer all around! I'll be enjoying this one for years to come.

Dark, dark brown in the glass, covered by a tan, pillowy head. Smells nutty and sweet like lactose, with a slight aroma of yeast. A rather pleasing aroma. Smells effervescent, if that makes sense.

The taste is immediately sweet, malty, and bitter, lending to more of that sweetness before ending in a nutty bitterness. Carbonation leads to some dryness on the palate. There also seems to be some tannic astringency, but not in a bad way. The balance between the roasted malt, the rather piquant hops, and the residual sugars make for an interesting overall flavor.

The dominating sweetness combined with the hop bitterness and carbonation make for an interesting mouthfeel. Not quite smooth, due to the dryness and hops, but not harsh thanks to the sweetness.

This is quite a good beer. I was happy to find it at a food salon in Paris, where the brewer was serving it up. If you come across it, it comes highly recommended.

A- I poured this into my mug and was greeted with a thick, frothy, tan colored head that retains fairly well, eventually settling down to a thick layer covering the beer. The color of the brew is dark brown with reddish hues and is clear. I cannot see how much carbonation there is. The lacing is good, leaving sticky fine bubbles on the side of the mug.

S- Bittersweet chocolate and some roasted malts characterize the aroma upfront. It becomes sweeter, with rich dark fruit, but also some banana, and some toffee/molasses.

T- Quite sweet, again with the chocolate and caramel/toffee creaminess. It is also somewhat fruity, with the subtle banana flavor that's noticeable in the aroma. The hop bitterness is mild but does linger on the palate if left alone for a minute. I also taste some sticky honey on my mouth afterwards, and a slightly coffee flavor could be blended in there as well. Overall, a good even flavor profile.

M- Buttery and a nice medium body is what this beer contains. The carbonation is mild and the bubbles are fine, allowing the full flavor to come through without providing that zing on the palate that comes with so many lagers. The alcohol is well hidden, allowing the grainy sweetness to be in the forefront.

D- As I find with most Euro beers, this is another great one! I would like to try the other products by Lubkowicz. This one is clean but full flavored and I'd very much enjoy this as a session beer. I think it borders close to a desert beer and would like to try it with a meal as well. I recommend this beer!

Bottle: Poured a clear deep brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of light banana ester with some roasted malt and black chocolate - very tasty. Taste is very refreshing with sweet black chocolate cake notes are well married with banana ester and light roasted oat finish. Body is about average with good carbonation and low alcohol which makes this a perfect session beer. Very good overall with great drinkability factor.

a - beautiful. nice n' dark with shafts of deep amber.

s - sweet malts. enticing.

t - pretty sweet on the attack, hopping up in the flavour with the sweetness returning on the aftertaste.

m - this is exactly what it needs to be. rich, medium-full bodied, dark, with a very small, smooth carbonation.

d - Baron kicks ass. one of the better $3/beer here in Alberta. Runs on the sweeter side of things, so it might turn you off if you're not into sweet, bready malts. Works great in marinades. I threw some fresh veggies together w/ tofu and drizzled them with red wine and Baron & cooked it over an open flame. Superb flavour.

Poured from a 500 ml. bottle, nice reddish copper color with a huge tan rocky head that holds well and nice lacing.
Nose is grains and sweet fruits coming at you with some malts.
Taste is sweet and bitter with the malts and caramel flavor and a tinge of prunes, going down very easily, but with a thin watery feel to it.Very enjoyable brew, well worth a try.

Dark ruby-brown with good clarity and an off-white, lasting head with good lacing. Looks great in my mug, but past times I had this in a lager/pilsner glass and retention was a problem. I recommend mug.

Smell is sweet malts and dark fruit.

Creamy, medium body with decent carbonation. More strong maltiness throughout, juicy fruit, milk sugar, slightly metallic and sweet with very minimal hops. Nice nutty-grain finish.

This is robust and is quite nice. Plenty of malts and fruit overtones makes it quite tasty. At 4.7% it's a great session at any time. Goes great with roast beef or steak.

Picked up a bottle of this beer at the local discount supermarket Norma.

Poured a thick foamy light brown colored head that held strong. Dark brown beer absorbs all the light around it. Not much aroma except for hints of metal, raisins, and dark roasted malt. Cocoa, raisins, caramel, cola, and rum all pop up in the flavor department. The body is a bit thin allowing the flavors sweetness to stand out a little more then normal. No aroma, but the flavor is pretty good. A decent beer, and worth the 50 cents I paid for it.

500ml bottle pour a deep mahogany brown that reveals some reddish hue when held up to a light source. Nice rich tan head and lacing. Smells of deep chocolate malt and some herbal spice. Very nice balance to the taste here..sweet chocolate malt, coffee, and a touch of spicy, not-too-bitter, hop at the end. Medium carbonation which suits the flavour balance. Any less and the sweetness would take over. A great beer and at the same cost per mil as Molson or Labatt's premium lagers.
