Presentation: 12 oz. green bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: Pale golden yellow with a spritzy white lace.

Smell: Malty for a light coloured brew with hints of sweetness, lemon and an herbal hop.

Taste: Fullish mouth feel with a very spicy tingling hop bitterness and crisp carbonation. Sweet grain fills in the backround while the biting hop character lingers. Finish cleans up real nice with a drying grain and herbal hop leaf flavour.

Notes: Comparable if not better than the top imported Czech pils in the states to date. Very lively with its snappy bitterness ... goes well with spicy thai curry.

Clarity isn't this beer's strong suit, its a hazy yellow pour, unexpectedly and not ideal for style. Makes 1/2" white head, average retention. Nose was a zippy noble hop.

Oh wow, I like this stuff, has both hop and yeast, maybe even water impact, fruity, grassy, pepper like earthen hop presence. Even a back end mild sweetness. I hardly ever see this, but if something like this was in a can instead of the weird 500ml format, I would look for it again come summertime. Similar to Pilsner Urquell, how it used to be.

A: The beer is absolutely crystal yellow in color and poured with a finger high bright white head. A very slight amount of carbonation is visible.
S: The overall smell is rather malty.
T: Like the smell, the overall taste is dominated by flavors of grainy malts.
M: It feels medium-bodied and very smooth on the palate and has a light amount of carbonation.
D: The beer isn't that difficult to drink although the amount of maltiness makes it slightly filling and not very thirst quenching.

Hazy yellow pour, average head, average retention. Saaz nose.

Surprisingly flavorful pilsener, fruity, grassy, even spicy at times, carbonation and hops are where they should be. Gets sweeter. Lemon and apple. Would like to try this with something Mexican and spicy from the old lady or secretary. Nothing like mixing tastes of both worlds, drinking a Czech beer with Mexican food in America. Great beer around the pool I imagine too, or outdoors in general.

Goldenrod in color, thin white head that accumulates along the glass but otherwise dissipates. Smells of mild roasted malt, vegetal hop notes, and a slight acidic/sour aroma.

Initially tastes vegetal, with a followthrough of mouth-watering acidity. Again, mild roasted malt supports a fairly crisp hop note that lingers through the finish. Slightly earthy as well.

The acidity contributes well to the mouthfeel, which turns this into a beer that makes you thirsty for more. Quite drinkable.

This bottle is 5%abv. BB 08/12/06, served chilled in a full-pint pilsner glass.

A: pours a pale golden hue, coming with a thick, white foamy head, retreating slowly to a thin carpet covering the top of a gently carbonated body. Quite decent.
S: grassy Saaz comes hand in had with a good-bodied and juicy, semi-caramely maltiness and semi-corn-ish grainy note… laced with a slightly dusty touch, a fragrant honeyish hint and a pleasant banana-oil like fruitiness at the back, esp. after a good swirl. Overall the aroma is well-mixed, typical of a good malty yet reasonably hoppy Czech Pilsner.
T: slightly metallic at first, coupled with a smooth flow of sweet malty foretaste... yet gradually a thinner, grainy taste, like adjuncts, make its appearance~~ salvaged just in time by an undercurrent of dryish-grassy hoppyness of Saaz that takes time to creep down the palate; wrapping up with a medium-length aftertaste of clean bitterness of hops and a faintly sugary malty tail.
M&D: softly-carbonated and quite clean--just ideal for a lager (at least for my palate); the medium-plus hop content and the balance obtained with the good body of malts make this bottle a decent example of what the Czech people have to offer to the world’s colourful beer scene. I believe the draught version should be much better, and I look forward to tyring it in my next trip to Bohemia~~

Presentation: Slender 12 ounce brown glass bottle that arrives with a metallic red main label and a color coded red and white crown cap. Listed as ‘Lobkowicz Knight – Traditional Czech Lager’. No listed strength or freshness date anywhere to be seen.

Appearance: Light orange gold body, clear appearance with a controlled ½” thick creamy head. Effervescent conditioning, each swallow helps in maintaining the head.

Nose: Lovely malty Czech Pilsner nose. Sweet crab apple middle, light toffee-caramel centers before a sweaty Saaz hop finish.

Taste: Rather a sweetish grainy grassy offering overall….the sweetness is in the grainy malt and it does tend to get balanced by the grassy Czech hops in the back end. Meanwhile the middle has apple sweetness, cider-like in fact, that adds a thirst quenching aspect to the Lager. Finishes with a dry-sweet feel and some lingering Saaz bitterness. Tasty.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation assists here immensely. The body is smooth and the sweetness of the malts is balanced by the bitterness in the finish, whilst the middle is all “Cider with Rosie”. Has enough of a torso to bolster the drink beyond a couple of bottles. Crisp feel, especially in the end.

Drinkability: Easily imbibed at first, but I found the cider-sweetness a just a little too much after a while.

Overall: A solid “above average” Czech Pils that ain’t half bad for the little coin.

Pours a clear light golden with not much head for the style but still looks nice in a pilsner glass,a big aroma some pepperyness and and iron with a bready backbone.Taste is pretty sharp with a nice spicy hop flavor with an iron taste that comes thru in the finish with a firm dry malty backbone to it.A somewhat complex pilsner pretty tasty and good for lazy days on the porch.

Pours a semi-hazy golden with a medium size white head. Very nice lace.

Nice smooth malt and saaz hop character mingle in the nose.

Mild malt flavor is overwhelmed by the spicy hops. The hops give a nice character to the flavor of the beer.

This beer is thin and crisp with a strong carbonation presence. The finish is strong as the hops wrap the tongue in vegetal splendor.

This is a suprisingly good beer. This would make a nice summer quencher.

Presentation: Brown 12 oz. Bottle, Red Label

Appearance: Dark yellow, with small white head that quickly dissipates, active carbonation

Smell: Smells malt and of grass. Like many euro pilsners

Taste: A malty and full tasting pilsner, with very little in the carbonation.

Drinkability: Very refreshing and interesting tasting. I would get this again anytime.

A gold color with descent effervescence. The head dies quickly, but maintains a fair lace. The aroma is of hops (light) with a malty background. The taste has a slightly sweet (weak) start with a dry finish. The mouth feel is a little watery and slightly crisp.
IMHO: Not exciting, but drinkable; fairly well balanced and not too dry.

Deep brassy gold. Very fine, fluffy 1" white head settles to a thin cap leaving decent lacing.

Nose is earthy spicy slightly grassy hops over sweet soft slightly bready malt. Classic, and very nice.

The soft slightly sweet malt leads the way on the palate, but the hop bitterness kicks in quickly on the mid-palate. Very well-balanced and long. Has that "fluffy" texture I love in a good pils. Lots of hop flavor throughout, and gorgeous Moravian malitness.

Excellent mouthfeel - enough carbonation to scrub away the hop and augment the palate, rather than straying into soda territory. I could drink an ocean of this. Top-notch Czech pils.

Poured a crystal clear golden color with a small white head with almost no retention. Aroma was of the same malt sweetness common to the style, almost fruity like pear or apple. Taste was almost identical to the smell, not much deviation at all. The fruit tastes came through a little bit stronger, and it finished with a crisp hint of hops. Not bad, but not one of my favorite styles in the first place.

Light gold color, medium white foamy head. Aroma is grainy and a touch sweet. Mild malts and hops. A light lager, sort of hoppy. Taste is very slightly off, a little sweetish and possibly a little skunky. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

More yellow than golden. A wispy white head sits on top. A steady stream of carbon dioxide is visible. Aroma is strong with hay, must and caramel like maltiness. Interesting, but not what I was looking for in Czech style pilsner. The taste is full of malt and spicy hop character. Caramel malt really jumps out at me. Unusual for this style. Also some must. There's not a lot of substance here, but this is definitely not a bad beer.

Pretty clear golden color....nose is almost like spicy apples.....mouthfeel is medium...decent enough body for a lager...taste has some caramel up front...also some spicy hops on the finish...a bit of a cidery taste as well...not sure how old this is and if any of the flavors are due to that...still I think this is decent enough...I'll drink it...I won't ever buy it I don't think but I'd drink it if given to me...
