Great local place to hang out. Owner Dave is very friendly, staff is professional and knowledge. Generally a lean toward wine, but 10 beers always on tap and good bottle selection. Food is the complementary-to-wine selections of cheese, wines and meats. I am a once a week regular, but great for a visit if you are not from this area. Great events throughout the year.

Cool little venue in the middle of Baxter Village. One of three places I tend to flock to when I'm craving some Coast Brewing or Westbrook items.

Atmosphere is a cool little neighborhood wine shop. Some of the patrons can be a bit yuppy-ish, but laid back nonetheless. Glad I don't live in Baxter Village, or I would practically be like Norm on Cheers.

The beers are decent quality. They have a growler filling station with everything from Founders to Westbrook. Nice nice nice.

The service is excellent. Very friendly and want to help out all the time.

The beer selection is a bit messy. They have a build your own six pack kinda thing going on with all kinds of 12oz'ers all over the place. Most of the bombers have to prices on them, so hard to know what its gonna run you, unless they are in the little wood shelves. They do give you a discount if you buy 6 or more beers, so that's great.

Overall, I try to hit the place every few weeks.

Had a chance to drop in on Grpevine today on my drive down fom Charlotte.

As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by Dave, the proprietor, with a warm welcolme. Deprite having a rather busy bar scene, Dave was able to check back on me several times during my visit, offering me samples of his draft selection and helping to navigate the local beer selection.

Overall, GREAT customer service, a really nice tap/growler lineup, wonderful local and domestic craft selection, and the ability to drink all beers on premise. Oh yeah... Wine too!

Thanks to Dave for a great visit and for really nice conversation.

Grapevine is a great place to meet friends or family for a beer. They have an excellent variety of beers, and the staff is very smart and helpful. If you are looking for anything wild or out of the ordinary, you need to check here. Dave, the owner, is an outstanding beerman who knows his wine as well. Whenever something new or exciting comes out, grapevine is sure to have it. Their growlers to go and draft selection are top notch. They carry anything from dogfish to sam adams, to pabst blue ribbon. Grapevine's local beer selection is great. They carry any beer you can get from the Carolina's and regional as well.

I first stopped in this place last January after reading a story in the local paper about growlers. I was just starting to babble in the craft beer scene. The owner Dave is a super nice guy always willing to help or just offer good conversation. He reffered me to BA which helped me out a great deal. Marie is the sweet lady who works during the day. She is always a fun person to talk with. Alex is cool dude who knows his stuff. Im not familiar with the folks who work at night but every time I go in, they are always super friendly. The place has a good selection of beer and wine. I always find something to pick up along with me growler fills. The atmosphere is laid back and they play good music. They also do a beer fest in March called Beertopia. Definitly worth checking out.

Grapevine is a great addition to the Fort Mill, SC area. I would say they have the best selection of beer in Fort Mill. It is more focused on Wine than beer but they still pay large attention to what they have for beer.

They have a growler refilling station with about 8-10 (?) taps that they rotate very frequently so there is something different just about every time you stop in there.

The owner is very knowledgeable on beer and wine and is also very friendly. The employees are all friendly and for the most part they seem to know quite a bit more than you would expect although some are more of wine people being that is mainly a Wine store.

I will definitely be stopping by often, for the growler refilling station if nothing else. Top notch place.

I have been to the Grapevine and made a few purchases in the past and have always dealt with Alex who has always been great to talk to and is very educated when it comes to good beer. Today I stopped in and met the owner David for the first time. Super nice guy who seemed more like a regular BA not someone trying to sell me a beer. We talked about a few types and he made some suggestions. The growler station always seems to have 2 or 3 great beers ready to flow. I live about 45 minutes away but my work takes me this way quite often so I see myself becoming more of a regular. As far as selection I seem to always pick up something here that I can't find a few miles across the boarder in N.C. While there today in stock was D.O.R.I.S., Black Ops, Barrel Aged B.O.R.I.S., Expresso Yeti, Ten Fidy on tap and many more! All around great place to pick up some great beers to go or just grab a pint to drink there and have some great conversation.

Located in the Baxter Village Shopping center in Fort Mill, SC (about 10 minutes south of Charlotte). This is a beer/wine store, the emphasis seems to be on wine, but they do have a semi-respectable beer selection. They also have a growler fill station with some great offerings, and a tasting bar.

The owner, Dave, is a terrific guy and seems to know his stuff when it comes to beer. Very nice atmosphere and a dedication to customer service that is hard to find.

I think the pricing is a little higher than most places but not overwhelmingly so. Overall a nice place to look if your usual place doesn't have what you are looking for.

My buddy and I stopped in for the first time yesterday. We were greeted by the owner who is extremely knowledgeable about beer and obviously very passionate about it. I was glad to see they carry Southern Tier which I haven't had since I left Ohio. The growler station is clutch and the draft beer selection is all top notch stuff. I was given a sample of Foothills DIPA which I had not had before. I then enjoyed a glass of '08 vintage Founders Imperial Stout...outstanding. I will definitely be going back soon.

I finally made the 20 mile drive to Grapevine and was thoroughly impressed. Not only do they have an awesome beer selection, but the overall atmosphere lends well to enjoying an ice cold double ipa.

This will definitely be my growler refill place of choice based on the selection, pricing, and excellent customer service! Pretty good selection of beers that changes frequently.

This trip I was lucky enough to get two growlers that I can't wait to open: Stone Double Bastard Ale and Dorado Double IPA. I also had the pleasure of sampling the Victory at Sea as well.

I made the trip down to Grapevine while visiting inlaws who live in Indian Trail, NC. The place wasn't too hard to find. I got their early afternoon and was immediately greeted by a very nice lady. She admitted she was more of a wine person and had limited knowledge on the beer selection. However, she was willing to help me out. The selection isn't large by any means but there is a nice selection of styles for sale. The also offer a bar to try out a few beers and wine. I didn't try anything there as I was in a hurry.
Overall, I was impressed by the willingness of the people there. The beer selection though was decent. If you are on your way through the area they are located relatively close to I-77 so it is an easy stop. Stop in, you'll be surprised by what might find.

This place is great. I've been passing it up for about 2 years because of the name, I assumed it was just a wine bar.

The best part about this place is the availability of single bottles, and now growlers to go. Considering the atmosphere and the ambiance of this place, the prices are unbelieveably low. I've been paying the same for 22oz bombers from Grapevine as I do at the local beverage warehouse, and they will chill them for you as you sit at the bar.

The selection is amazing. I think they have about 150 by the bottle, the majority of those you can't buy anywhere else around here. They also know, and care about their beer. Normally I would be concerned about freshness in a place that had so many bottled, but they seem to generate enough local buzz to move their unique inventory very well. The bartender and owner have been very helpful, friendly, and knowlegeable about the beers.

I really look forward to my weekly trip to Grapevine. Everytime I walk through the doors I stumble upon something exciting.

I don't see how anyone has given this place less than an A. Oh, wait, they haven't. And that's well deserved.

Located near Baxter Village ($$$$) in Fort Mill, this is really easy to get to, with plenty of parking right next to the shop. Great location amidst some shops/restaurants that are hard to park near.

Walking in, the focus appears to be on wine, but there is considerable space dedicated to the beer, and the new arrivals are featured prominently alongside the wines. The people I have talked to about beer there have known there stuff.

One thing that sets this place apart from some other shops is no limits on what they sell. They don't care if they sell to one person or thirty, so if you are feeling greedy and they have something rare, knock yourself out. You will pay a little more for the privilege, but not exorbitantly so.

They don't have a terrible amount of space, so the good stuff that they get comes in in small quantities, but they get some really cool gems here that other places either overlook or get later.

If you are in the Charlotte/Fort Mill/Rock Hill area, this is a must visit. My thanks to unionturf for making me aware of it.

Stopped here on my way back from Columbia. Saw it on Beerfly, thought I'd check it out. Wow! This is a freaking excellent beer stop! Walking in, I can tell it's mostly a wine bar, but tucked in the back corner is a sweet gold mine of a beer section. They don't carry the largest of quantities, but the quality of beer they do carry more than makes up for it. I saw some from Ballast Point (Sculpin just arrived), Hoppin' Frog (BA B.O.R.I.S. just came in that day), tons of Stone, Rogue, Southern Tier, Lagunitas, Weyerbacher, Founders, Ommegang, etc. And the prices were all very reasonable; actually much cheaper than my local spot, which shall not be named. If I were local here, I would hit this spot up all the time. I talked to the bartender quite a bit, and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Told me they have a quick-freezer in the back if I wanted to pull a bottle off the wall and consume there at the bar. Pretty cool. He was telling me all about the tasting he and his buddies host, even showed me the list from their last meeting. Now that's a man that appreciates good beer. Very cool dude. I will recommend this spot to anybody and everybody that is driving through, or lives around there.

This is my favorite area bar, it has a great atmosphere with great people. The bartenders, usually Dave (the owner) and Pat, are knowledgeable and can offer reliable beer recommendations. Most of the other neighborhood bars are really restaurants with a lame bar atmosphere, Dave is running a bar that works like a bar should.

The name may imply that this is a wine shop but they seem to sell more beer than wine. For a small shop these guys stock a huge selection of beer, somewhere around 150 types. The prices are are comparable to other regional bottle shops, and pretty good for a bar.

The best part of this shop is that they offer single bottles to go, which is rare in this area. I never stock beer in my fridge anymore, when I want beer I stop at Grapevine and grab what I need for the next day or so. They always have a few good beers in the cooler, or they'll chill anything on the wall in just a few minutes.

I was brought here by a friend from Fort Mill - what a great little treasure. Now every trip to Charlotte requires a trip to The Grapevine.

First off, it is great to see such a wide variety of beer and wine in the same shop. The owner, Dave Sills seems to have a real passion for beer and it shows in his establishment. Service has been top notch on each visit and I think the same people have been behind the bar each time I have visited.
The menu listings are limited but they will chill any bottle you bring off the shelf.
If you are in the Charlotte area it's worth the drive down to Fort Mill to visit and say hi, you won't regret it....

I went to this place for Brewtopia. There was a great selection of wine and a good selection of beer too. Lots of anniversary and seasonal beers available. Dave and Melanie are awesome owners and they really know their stuff. The beer here is very good but not a large volume. Baxter's village is a great place in general and this is one of those places you should definitely hit up before or after dinner or lunch in the area. I really enjoyed their selection, service and company. A great place for beer in the area!

Excellent service. The guys who work here are friendly and knowledgeable, and seem eager to please.

Nice environment. The store is in Baxter Village, which is a high-end planned community in Fort Mill. It is a really nice atmosphere.

The place seems a little more wine-oriented than beer-oriented (as the name would suggest), but it is a clean, inviting, comfortable place.

Beer selection is not huge, but decent. They have some hard to find beers, and everything that they carry seems high quality.

Prices are OK. I've paid less but I've also paid more. As someone else wrote, consider the location.

I've been there twice and will go back periodically.

Definitely worth a visit.

Looks like a nice little wine bar. Small but solid selection. Prices are meh, but much of the stuff is high gravity or hard to find. Also that location is natrually going to be a little more pricey. Offered to chill some bottles for me, which is a plus. Service is some of the best you'll find. Will definetely check in here from time to time. Spoke with the owner 2nd time in, he sounds dedicated to giving a quality selection, not wasting any of his limited space. The Eel River stout I picked up on my first trip was excellent. Good Founder's selection, nice since I'm from Grand Rapids.
They have increased their patio size, which is a nice place to sit outside in a nice area.

First of all, this place went above the call of duty in the service department. Here is my story:

I stopped by on a Monday morning at about 10:40. They dont open officially until 11 but the woman working let me in anyway. After 15 minutes or so of browsing, I found what I wanted and went to check out. They give a 10% discount on mix six packs, which is what I had, but the woman working was new and didnt know how to add the discount into the system. So, I paid full price, and she told me to come back later that week to speak with a manager and get my discount. Well, I went back the following Thursday and spoke with a manager. I noticed on my receipt that I was charged double for a beer. He not only reimbursed me the 10% mix six discount, but also the money from the overcharge. Service doesnt get much better than that folks.

They even have a bar in the joint where, I assume, one can drink their bottles of fine wine or craft beer.

Selection was really good. They had some gems that were unavailble in Charlotte, which is just ten minutes away and across the NC/SC border.

Prices were okay. Inidividual 12oz bottles were about $2.25 each but they do encourage mixing sixers, which is always nice.

If I cant find what I need in NC, I will definitely stop by this place again in the future. A real class act set of guys.

The Grapevine has a really nice location right there in Baxter Village. But that is not even what is great about this place. The staff (which consists of the same handful of people) really get to know you and give you that home-town feel. And that isn't even what is great about them! Their knowledge for their wide selection of beer and wine and their ability to recommend the perfect beverage is what make this place and the people who work there great. Go by there, check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed. Tell em Jake said hi for me too!

Stopped in this weekend looking for some Founders and wasn't dissapointed. The store is very wine centric, but with the name I wasn't surprised. There's a small wall filled with singles and bombers near the back that constitutes the beer section. The guy working was very helpful, he came right over when I walked in to see if I needed any help. He seemed to know his beer pretty well and had no problem getting me prices for beers he didn't know the price off of the top of his head.

Their selection consisted pretty much entirely of the more sought after beers in SC such as Founders, Stoudts, Stone, Bear Republic, etc. This definitely isn't the place to go for your run of the mill kind of craft beer. I gave the selection a slightly lower score because of that, they may have a lot of desirable beers but they're missing out on a lot of the staples or beers that aren't as new to the state.

I did have a few problems with this place that I feel need mentioning. First of all nothing is priced on the shelves, and although the guy was very nice with telling me the price of anything I wanted to know it's always nice to be able to tell right away. If I wasn't the only person in the store it might have been more of a hassle to figure out the prices of things. Second of all they didn't sell four or six packs, only singles. You could make a four or six pack by buying as many singles as you wanted, but it would be much more expensive than what the four or six pack should go for. Overall I'd say their prices are probably 20-40% more than if you would be able to buy a four or six pack. For a bar these would be fair, if not good prices. But for a beer store it's a little on the expensive side.

Overall this is a very nice store with great service and a good selection of the more sought after beers available in SC. If you're looking for a bar they'll chill any of their bottles on the shelf and they have reasonable to good prices with a nice atmosphere. If you're looking for a beer store they're a bit on the expensive side and won't have some of the more standard craft selections.

I found out about this place thanks to Kegatron and decided to stop in since we were staying nearby.

Located in a new shopping village, it's hard to tell that this place even sells beer, as it's just promoted as a wine bar. However, once inside, there's some signs, like a nice selection of bottles on the back wall, with empty bottles of some of the most sought after beers displayed above it.

The bar itself has only about 12 stools or so with a few tables scattered throughout the place, as well as outside seating. The place only serves bottles of beer, with a menu selection of things already chilling behind the bar in a fridge, but they will super chill anything you may find on the wall. All beer is served in proper glassware and is fresh.

Service was excellent, with the bartender very attentive, friendly, and fun. The clientele was equally as friendly and chatty, making anyone feel like a local, definitely a nice feeling.

We were recently brought here by fellow BA Barscream, as he was quite excited to have a quality beer stop not far at all from his home. This is located in the Baxter Village complex, a mix of residential housing, restaurants, and shopping that is packed together into one very quaint, clean, and easy to walk around package. After dinner at an Italian restaurant across the street, we walked over to the Grapevine for an after dinner drink.

An inviting looking exterior beckons you inside, where I found an equally warm and inviting interior. A nice looking tasting bar sits directly inside with additional seating to the right of that and then their take out wine and beer selections to the left. The atmosphere has a warm and homey feeling with soft colors and lighting and some comfy chairs and couches to sit on.

The beer list consists of bottles only but it's a pretty comprehensive selection of what is available in SC. They also have a separate shelf for take out as well. If you see something on there that isn't on their bottle menu, they're more than happy to throw it into a bottle chiller for a few minutes in order for you to enjoy it there on premise. It was nice to see proper glassware being used as well.

The service here was great! We were immediately made to feel at home and welcomed by the staff. Owner Dave Sills, made a point to talk to us and inform us of other great beer opportunities in the Charlotte, which showed me that the guy is just straight up passionate about beer!

It looks like the beer selection is getting better and better in SC and it's awesome to see a place like the Grapevine spring up to help promote better beer in the state. I'm also a big fan of this being both a wine and beer bar, helping to get the wine enthusiasts on board with what beer can offer beyond the typical macro crap (and heck maybe getting beer enthusiasts interested in wine as well!). We really enjoyed our visit here and look forward to future visits when we're in town.

The first thing I want to say about Grapevine is the wonderful selection they have. With over 150 beers to select from. One thing to consider is South Carolina has only been able to serve high gravity beers for a year now. Not all of the top end brewers are available in south carolina. However, Dave Sills has the best selection in the state. If there is a beer that is available in south carolina and the place doesn't carry it, Dave will put in a special order for you. It is a wonderful place to spend an evening and enjoy a few beers. The staff is extremely helpful if you are unsure of what you would like to drink. I recommend this place to any beer lover. Even if you are not a beer lover and enjoy the occasional bud light then this is still the place for you. Go in sometime and check out the atmosphere, you will enjoy it.
