Drank from a 330ml growler purchased at OEC Brewing (Ordinem Ecentrici Coctores), Oxford, CT
Served in a snifter

This growler was filled from a cask at Festivus 2. According to the gentleman serving it, this was a different beer from anything sold in stores.

In the glass, the syrupy, semi-viscous, burnt mahogany colored liquid appeared totally still. Very similar to a cordial. With a gentle swirl, a thin film coated the glass and thin legs slowly tricked down.

The nose was was fantastically interesting and complex. This reminded me a lot of a sherry or an aged port. Dark fruit notes came through strong. Loads of raisins and plums. Sweet and, like the appearance, very cordial-like. Fairly boozy. Quite rummy. Good dose of maple. Hint of brown sugar.

The flavor profile was similar to the nose but even more impressive. Again, port and sherry-like notes dominated. The beer had an intense oxidized character. Strong raisin and plum notes. Sweet but not overly so. Hint of maple. Rummy on the back end. Slighly boozy, but the alcohol was quite restrained given the beer's high ABV, and was more definitely more hidden than in the nose. Some maple sweetness and oxidative notes lingered in the finish.

The mouthfeel was solid. Rich and slightly syrupy but not too sugary or viscous. Fairly cordial-like. Although the beer was totally flat, it was still a bit creamy. The liquid left a slightly sticky film on my lips.

Like the other variations on Xyauyù I have tried in the past, this was outstanding and truly unique in so many ways. Bottles of this beer typically sell in the range of $50, but this $26 growler was definitely a steal. It paired perfectly with the panettone alla Birra Xyauyù that they were also selling at the brewery.
