Received this as an extra in a trade from a generous BA thanks!

Appearance: Pours a light amber to honey tinged copper with decent clarity and a 1 finger white crown that shows little lace as well as little retention.

Smell: Mildly earthy and herbal with a faint caramel to toffee malt profile.

Taste: Alcohol presence and esters up front. Caramel, toffee, honey, brown sugar, and minor plum notes in the finish. Surprisingly no signs of oxidation found.

Mouthfeel: On the thick side of medium bodied with ample carbonation.

Overall: I probably shouldn't assume that this beer tasted anything like this back when it was made quite a long time ago, but based on how it tastes now I'm happy they retired it.

Half finger head on a cloudy copper and crimson body. Very bready and malty with peach, apricot and cantaloupe fruity sweetness. Fairly spivey as well. Flavor is fairly boozy and malt forward bordering on a barleywine. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Candied oranges, citrus hops notes as well. This one is very sweet as expected. Fairly boozy overall.

Had a glass at the Trapp Door in Emmaus PA. The beer was smooth and well-aged, but as distinct or complex as you'd hope for a beer like this. There was a big fig ester hit up front and a light, nutty caramel malt taste rolls through the finish. It's a tasty beer, but the flavors are blending together instead of standing out and complementing each other.

Picked up a giant bottle of this at Shangy's in Emmaus to take along with me to Thanksgiving dinner with my family. The bottle had the year 2000 pressed into the glass just below the neck. The cap was heavily wax coated, The bottle opened with an impressive hiss for being 10 years old.The look of the beer was a cloudy orange yellow color. The head was a little fizzy but had a light lacing on the glass. The smell of the beer had a wonderful aroma of sweet tropical fruits and some flowers in there. The beer smells really nice overall. The taste of the beer wasn't as good as the smell but not too far off. The beer had a nice amount of Belgian yeast, and fruit flavors. The mouthfeel had soft and lightly carbonated feel to it. Overall I really enjoyed this beer quite a bit. Very nice to have something like this with family and friends around the holidays.

750ml capped bottle brought back from my sisters trip to eatily in new york. thanks lorena! i have never even heard of this. drank from my duvel tulip.

A- the beer comes out of the bottle a a slightly hazy darkish amber color. there is a about a finger and a half of eggshell colored head on top. the head has decent retention and leaves behind solid rings of lacing. very nice.

S- the first things that pop out of the nose are fruits. apple first and foremost. pear, grape, banana and mangos can be found also. a light spicing (read coriander). some pale malts and a little bit of candi sugar.

T- the taste starts out with some pale malts and quickly moves back into the fruits that i could smell. plenty of apple cider. grapes, pears, mangos, bananas, and a little bit cherries. a little bit of spicy coriander and pepper. sweet belgian candi sugar.

M- the body is medium. the carbonation is on the low side for the style, but it works well in here. the lightest warming from the alcohol. its very well hidden.

O- drinking this, i had no idea that it was this potent. the alcohol is very well hidden. i dont usually like this style this much. check this one out if you get the chance.

Draft. Poured into a small Snifter. Color is a slightly murky tannish caramel color. Lots of dark fruit notes (prune, raisin, etc) in the nose along with some caramel. Medium mouthfeel. Caramel sweet start with dark fruit sweetness and a touch of tangy, sour/tart. Booze evident and warms slightly. Overall, not bad and good to see a good bee coming out if Italy!

A-cloudy golden appearance after pour, darker at bottom, small half finger head and hazy throughout.
S-Fruity, grape and apple, lots of fresh fruit, cherry and a sweet almost honey like smell
T-A bit of funk to this one, slightly tart, apples, cherries and pears in the taste. A good amount of belgian yeast in the finish
M- medium body, spicy afterfeel and average amount of carbonation.

Overall a solid beer, hides the 10% very nicely

On-tap at the Porter in Atlanta.

Pours a clear dark amber color with a one-finger slightly off-white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of rich medium malts with good amounts of ripe pear and tropical fruit aromas. Also present are mild amounts of funk and even lighter amounts of musty hops.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Sweet medium malt flavors kick things off and are quickly joined by good amounts of medium fruit flavors - pears, apricots, and tropical fruits, in that order. Midway through the sip the fruit flavors turn slightly tart and carry through to a crisp ending. As the beer warms light hints of vanilla work their way out.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.

Drinkability is very good. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.

Overall I was impressed with this beer - it's got a lot going on and manages to blend everything together nicely. Worth a shot.

Found this beer at Gingerman in South Norwalk where it was served in a tall wine glass.

Initially looks much like you'd expect from a Belgian strong pale ale - strongly golden, with a soft honey cloudiness to it. Foamy, but with no lacing, kind of dies out. Nose has an interesting mix of banana and whiskey oak - just a little tart, and definitely a good share of tropical fruit.

Taste has a reasonable amount of maltiness, and a definite tartness to it, but no balanced hops. Its sweet, with tropical fruits, and while interesting, its really not that enjoyable, just too much going on. Doesn't have the crispness of a Duvel, for example. Smooth, and light/medium body, soft and creamy. Heavy on the ABV is definitely noticeable throughout the drink, which hinders the drinkability.
