Appearance - This fella poured a lovely, cloudy dull yellow with a nice, puffy head that wasn't too big and wasn't too small.

Smell - This has some very mild sour notes to the aroma; not biting but just noticeable. The base is a mild mix of piss and Diet Sprite. Overall, very pleasing to smell.

Taste - The light, easy flavor profile contrasts with other examples of the style. It's light like a lemon-lime soda but not as bubbly and seems to be mixed with watered-down urine.

Mouthfeel - This is light-bodied but not watery with some killer carbonation that's big but not annoying. The carbs, flavors, and mouthfeel are well-balanced.

Drinkability - This is an exceptionally easy-drinking Saison that some purists of the style may pooh-pooh.

Warning: all of my Baladin beer reviews are slightly dull, this is what happens when you take notes at a tasting and don't get to a computer til a week after, the thrill is gone

Appearance: Hazy straw colored with a light lingering head, minimal retention and lacing

Nose: Smells like a traditional belgian style saison, sightly musky with notes of hay and horse blanket followed up by slight coriander and peppery spice complexion

Taste: A gentle sweetness comes forward immediately as well as a light breadiness, followed by more notes of funk and musk and finishing with an intense peppery blast

Mouthfeel: Slightly prickly and acidic with a nice firmer body

Drinkability: Like a good saison, it goes down easy, a good summer sipper, I could easily have a couple of these on a summer day

This is a pretty good Saison / Farmhouse Ale.

Pours into a glass, with a nice thick head. Lots of carbonation, but almost automatically dissipates.

The aroma is funky and grassy, a nice sign of a classic farmhouse ale.

The taste is complex with a mixture of horse grass funk and dried citrus.

Overall this is a good Saison, and particularly a good Italian rendition.

I would recommend this to beer lovers whom want to try something new and different, and even appeals to Farmhouse drinkers.

(Served in a wide-bottomed flute)

A- This beer has a hazy deep straw yellow body with an off-white creamy head that takes up most of the glass and pushes above the glass. There is a sea of tiny bubbles that racing around the body. This beer leaves thick rings of foam after each sip.

S- There are notes of orange and pale malt hints with a plastic shrink wrap finish.

T- This beer starts with a light musty note and a citrus oil flavor then moves to a plastic flavor in the finish. As my tongue gets used to the plastic taste notes of dry corn and city water come through. There is also a light green herbal note as the beer temp warms.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a slight slippery texture.

D- The off-plastic flavor is the strongest flavor in the beer with most other flavors and aromas being pretty mild. I suspect that the plastic is related to the spices but I can’t figure out what spices would be in there. The beer was not horrible and was bland enough not to really offend and I finish the whole bottle.

Bomber of smooth drinking Belgian, neither too sweet nor bitter. Pours thick foamy orangy off-white head and orangey-white body. Above-average creamy mouthfeel. Mild yeast understated spicy aroma. At the 5.5% stated on the bottle, most drinkable pints for an hour.

Poured out of a funky 750ml capped and foiled bottle, the color is cloudy golden orange with an active white head that dissipates fairly quick. The smell is of tart apples and some light hops. At first wiff almost reminded me of a EIPA. The taste is slightly spicy, tart apple, some hoppiness to it. Not as complex as traditional saisons but has a different sort of a hoppiness to it, which makes it unique. The feel is moderate and well carbonated and finishes a bit tart. Overall an enjoyable brew, not as complex as the top tier saisons but is worth a try.

A: Pours a bright, hazy orange, some light peppery floaties with a thin white head.

S: Dry orange aroma with some sweet citrusy hints and spicing (coriander).

T: Very sweet flavor with nice spicing, spicy Saaz hops, with lots of fresh citrus. Flavor is clean, and sweet. Has a nice spicy hopping and tang in the finish with a good fade.

M: Moderate carbonation and mouthful.

D: Very good drinkabillity and example of a saision especially from an Italian brewery for this style.

I am drinking a nice decanter-shaped Baladin bottle. The ale has been poured into a DuClaw nonic.

Appearance: The ale has a light, yellow color with no trace of haziness. The color strikes me as somewhat too light. There is a substantial amount, almost too much, carbonation, which resulted in two overflows during the night.

Smell: The smell is where I pick up the saison character. The head, as it receded, betrayed a fresh, wild presence that screamed 'SAISON'. This nose set me up for something nice in the taste (alas, that did not happen).

Taste: The ale, as labelled on the bottle, is a Saison-style brewed with spices. I pick up the spices, pepper primarily. But outside of those spices, nothing jumps out at me that makes me thing Saison. I'd expect to see some gamey yeastiness, maybe a small hop presence. Instead, I got none of them.

Mouthfeel: The ale is smooth and well-balanced. The spices greatly help in providing a nice mouthfeel.

Drinkability: At a relatively low 5.8% abv and a nice spice balance, this ale is very drinkable. I think that it may be best used as a gateway beer into the mystical and magical world of saisons.

Bottle: poured a light cloudy light copper color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention but minimal lacing. Aroma of coriander and zesty refreshing and overall dry hops is very enticing. Taste is a nice mix between some nice Belgian malt, some coriander and a hoppy dry finish that is very well balanced. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well balanced between malt, hops and spices with some interesting esters.

750 ml bottle from Hi Time Wine in Costa Mesa, CA. in May 2008; price not recorded.

Pours a moderate-dark orange, cloudy and hazy, with a moderate to large fluffy white head.

Aroma of light citrus and hops, maybe even an apricot-pear fruit note, pleasant through and through.

Flavor is first a nice well rounded bready malt, with a few spice notes (I'm not good at spices, my wife suggests caroway and celery seeds- makes sense to me). Not as organic/barnyard/funky as most of the saisons we really enjoy, and as such, kind of plain in its overall flavor profile. Tastes good, but not as interesting as some of the more famous of the style.

Very drinkable, I just wanted drain this, but decided to drink a little more slowly.

Poured from tap into snifter at Avenue Pub NOLA. Pours a slightly brown/bronze golden color with no head or lacing, and no carbonation at all. Sour and funk aromas but grape dominates. Slightly sour and funky lager like with lots of grape flavors...almost white wine or grape skin. Slightly sweet but finishes sour and tart. Nice easy brew and pleasant. I Wish it was as sour as the nose suggests but still nice. One of the more unique brews ive had in a while and my first from Birrifico. Questa birra fa grande. Cent'annti!

Appears a transparent gold with steady streams of lacing quickly rising to the top of the glass. The smal, white cap of silk never fades. Spotty streaks of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of citrus, lemon, pumello, lime, coriander, and ginger.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a soapy, citrus, and coriander seed blast of flavor.
Mouthfeel is medium-light, spritzy up front, mildly spiced, with a smooth finish.

I was recently at the brewery in Italy. The brewery is in fact a brew pub stuck in a little town in northern Italy. He makes six year round flavors. The beer is brewed in the pub but pumped a 1/2 mile to his hand bottling plant.

Wayan is a french saison style named after his 2yr old daughter. The beer pours hazy with a champanie air and light, foamy head. The aroma is a little lacking but the flavor of fruit(mostly pear but little subdued) and yeast come through in the taste. It is a little too drinkable.

3/4 Liter bottle received from LuckySevens82 and BIF33 - Team Spring.

Pours a chill hazed golden colored ale with a good but not outstanding white head.

Smell is faintly sweet but more herbal and spicy. Mainly the scent is herbal hops and flowers and scents. Coriander comes through quite clearly but no other spice really does. Black pepper reaches my nose and is except for the coriander is the main spice scent.

Taste is quite dry and herbal in the first sip. The taste of coriander comes through quite clearly and is a little green and slightly grassy. This is slightly metallic tasting but not enough to make me stop drinking it.

Mouthfeel is good.

Fairly drinkable Saison here but there are better. Easy enough to drink but this is a beer that just doesn't have the complexity that you get from something like a Hennepin.

Golden yellow with smallish off white fizzy head. Head drops quickly leaving little to no lacing. Light fruit sweetness with some mild farmy scents. Some spiciness and light tart scents. Mild sweet fruits with some doughy malts and farmy flavors. Pretty mellow and uneventful flavor. Some citric notes and bitterness. Sweet fruits on the finish. Fairly smooth with good enough carbonation. Easy enough drinking stuff but it was really overall way to mild an aroma and taste. Not bad just very average.
