Pine Belt Pale Ale is orange/copper in color and a good pour from the can results in a nice, sturdy head of foam that holds its own for a few minutes. The nose on this beer is one of pine cones combined with citrus. The carbonation is rather light, but the head of foam still manages to maintain at least a thin coating as you imbibe.

Pine Belt Pale Ale offers a nicely balanced taste for the pale ale style. Up front, this ale offers the tastes of caramel malt sweetness, bread notes, and a touch of citrus. There is a nutty character as well, and the beer finishes bitter with an aftertaste that is well- balanced, representing all of the flavors initially tasted.

Southern Star Brewing Company is a new brewery, and Pine Belt Pale Ale is its first product. The brewer's at Southern Star made a very good choice when they formulated the recipe for Pine Belt Pale Ale. This product is an American version of the pale ale style and I like the way it combines citrus hops with a solid malt backbone to create a well- balanced taste. It's a tasty ale that delivers on most every count; an easy- drinking pale ale that aims to please, and succeeds in most every way.

Pours a hazy amber color with a thick creamy head.

Aroma is faintly hoppy with alcohol more noticeable as it warms. Some malt and a little fish sauce in there.

Taste is caramel malt with hop bittering and a metallic finish.

Good carb with a sweet sticky finish.

Would buy again.

A:
Pours a hazy deep amber with a beautiful three fingers of head that airily dissipates to a rock half inch of beige cream. Decent retention; lots of sticky lacing.

S:
Malty with citric hops. Lemon rind, melon, pine, caramel, and some floral notes.

T:
Crisp, bitter, refreshing. Very quick and dry with dusty, husky hop flavors up front and some rising acidity in the finish with a vaguely malty, bitter finish.

M:
Medium bodied with a nice creamy head and crisp carbonation. Pretty drinkable with slightly lingering medicinal/malt-sticky finish.

O:
Damn good IPA (or whatever you want to call it).
This is a really fresh-tasting, dry pale ale and would be perfect on a hot day. Pours very nice and obviously unfiltered (a big plus in my book), has a pretty straightforward PA nose and an even, bitter, drying (and yet fresh) taste and palate. The only thing I didn't like was that I felt like it was a little lingering and sticky to be super-drinkable. But that's just me. Pretty tasty, either way.
Basically tastes like a sun-baked pine in the Texas heat.
Would get again if I ever had access to it; well worth trying if you can get it.
