Poured from a 12 oz can and split with a friend.
Dark golden/bronze color, pretty dark for a blonde, a little odd. Nice foamy off white head.
The smell was surprising, and very nice. Honey, hazelnut, and toast, very pleasant and a little sweet smelling. The taste follows suit with the same notes, delicious honey, hazelnut, and toast, moderately sweet but not cloying. Nice texture too, a little thick and creamy but still quite light, compliments the tastes nicely. Very drinkable, finished mine quick. I wish this was on draft somewhere around here, it would be a great one to have a pint or two of while hanging out.
Overall very tasty. A little odd for the style but I like that it has character.

Appearance: A cloudy gold with a nice bready head, bubbles rising through the glass, slight reddish tint.

Smell: A great blend of hops and bready notes, very well balanced and very fresh smelling.

Taste: Both the hop flavoring and the bread notes hit you right away in a gentle wave, developing into a full-fledged flavor that bitters as you swallow it. A great after-taste that gives off hints of spices.

Mouthfeel: Gives you the impression of a lack of carbonation, but I feel it works to effect. The beer sits in your mouth and nothing really hits you in the face. The carbonation is very soft, the hops are very pleasant, and the breadiness and spices bring a full sense of flavor to the palate.

Overall: This is one hell of a refreshing beer, and Southern Star have achieved it without sacrificing flavor. This is a great beer to drink, and it is very complex. There is no other Blonde ale that I drink the way I drink this one, it is in another league.

Poured from the can a hazy orange color, making the "Clarity is overrated" claim from the can spot-on. More lasting head than I've ever seen from a blond ale, and it even leaves some lacing. Smell is particularly malty and bold for the style, almost like a brown ale; sweet, caramely, and delicious. Taste is loaded with malty, bready goodness, and I taste a bit of apricot and orange fruit in the finish. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy, also unique in a blond, and leaves my mouth a bit sticky. In comparison to other blonds I've had, Bombshell is imperial-like in appearance, smell, taste, and mouthfeel, but at 5% ABV, drinkability is excellent. Such a great beer at a very low price... and in cans!

Can received from Wolffman17 as an extra in a trade - my thanks go out

Pours a golden color with a bit of haze to it. A 1 inch foamy white head.

A bit of toasty malt, some sweetness, and a light floarl note in the nose.

Sweetness dominates the flavor, nicely, and there are a bit of citrus hop notes and biscuit feel.

Nicely carbonated and creamy, very smooth and easy to drink. A nice beer for a hot day, and you can easily put down many of these.

Poured from a 12oz can into a pint glass

A:Poured a golden color with small frothy head that quickly resides with no lacing at all

S:Has a sweet malty smell along with bread notes in the mix as well

T:Pretty mellow, small malt sweetness, and not as much bread notes as detected by the smell. Finishes out fairly smooth with nothing great going on with the aftertaste

M:Ligth body with not much carbonation

D:Not a horrible brew for the style. Decent creamy body with a smooth finish and easy drinkability

Probably will not have this one again thou...

Thanks to gramatton for the trade!

Consumed 11/8/2009- from notes.

12oz can poured into a shaker glass.

A- Super cloudy golden yellow topped off by a frothy two finger white head. Great retention and decent lacing. Looks alot more like a hefe than a blonde.

S- Grassy, biscuity and a little sweet.

T- Grassy and biscuity up front then a little citrus hint at the end.

M- Medium bodied, very smooth and creamy.

D- Pretty easy to drink. Could see this being a great summer time session brew. I'm not normally a fan of the style but this is alot more like a hefe than any blonde I've had.

Poured into a pint glass.

A: Pours a hazy golden orange color with medium-thick cream-colored foam that fades at a medium pace, leaving chunks of lacing around the glass.

S: Smells like grass and spent grains. Definitely leaves something to be desired.

T: Big malted barley flavors come through despite the muted nose. Caramel, toffee, nuts, toast, etc. are in season. Better than average, but not really good.

M: Drinks a little bit like soda. Not a ton of body, and my still feels fizzy after I finish swallowing.

D: While it does have some nice flavor going on, the mouthfeel is pretty much enough to say goodnight for me. I'd drink this before a Budweiser, but not much else.

A cloudy dark golden beer with a fluffy white head. Smells and tastes bready and rich. Very creamy body, smooth, buttery. Totally not filtered. Best "all-purpose" beer made in Texas. Very little hops added, but comes off as distinctively balanced.

I enjoyed Southern Star's Pine Belt Pale Ale enough to warrant grabbing a 6-pack of the Bombshell Blonde. This blonde is excellent.

It pours slightly a slightly hazy and golden, with the unfiltered particulates floating about even in the beer, and makes a frothy but bubbly white head.

The smell is of citrus, its bready from the wheat and yeast, and slightly spicy from hops.

The Bombshell Blonde tastes great. I would prefer a more full-bodied feel, because that's what I always like, but there are some great flavors. The yeast is there, as is the citrus tang, but what I think makes this beer stand out is the lingering flavor of the hops that adds bitterness and gives the beer full flavor.

It's like a German hefeweizen mixed with a light pale ale. A good beer here!

Bought at Beverage Source in Newark Ohio.

Poured from a 12 oz. Can into a Unibroue tulip.

A- Dark gold, nice off-white head, sticky, rocky, lasting. Turns into 1/4 inch ring. Lacing on the glass stays through the whole glass. Looks excellent. Makes me want to drink it.

S- Caramel malt, yeast, not much else to be honest. Zero hop presence. Not nearly the same enthusiasm to drink after the smell.

T- Slight sweetness from the "Vienna" malt and a slight spicyness from the yeast. Very bready. Almost no hop again. If it weren't for the tiny bit on the finish I wouldn't have said they used hops. Disappointing to say the least.

M- Creamy, smooth. Nice feel, for sure. I wish the rest of the beer was this good.

D- It does give some semblance of drinkability, if a straight forward, malt heavy, non-balanced beer is your style. For me, I tried it. If I were offered it again, I would respectfully decline it.
