Cigar City Tulip
A ~ Even the can itself opened up beautifully. Pours Black w/ Enamel head. Slight lace.
S ~ Caramel syrup, Chocolate milk, grapes, & faint coffee. Slight mustyness.
T ~ Caramel following through progressing into a stronger coffee note fading fast into prune-y notes. Artificial chocolate. Burnt caramel & alcohol on the finish.
M ~ Sweet w/ a roasty middle & a chalky finish. Wish it was a tad more bitter on the back end. Bit of heat.
D ~ An average stout, but I was a tad underwhemed overall! There was a great expression of coffee in the beginning, but needed more body & bitterness to carry it through. Thanks for getting me this Want, gawnphishin!

I was expecting jet black from the commercial description, but this is dark brown. Bad lighting at the Southern Star Brewery. Smells strongly of slightly burnt toast and tons of chocolate malts. I get some coffee roast in the smell, but I'd like a bit more. SWEET BEER. Lots of chocolate and toasty/roasty malts. More chocolate and toast than anything. Needs balance dearly. Mouthfeel is slick, sticky, yet not that full. Overall, this isn't that great. I'm splitting a can with someone, and it's hard to take down.
