Appearance: Pours a medium brown color with ruby highlights. 1/2" of tan head forms, decent retention and lacing. This is extremely light colored for an imperial stout.
Smell: Smells of some roasted malts, coffee, and light hops.
Taste: Again, a lot of roasted malt flavor with some coffee as well. Not a lot of hops, but there are some in there. There is a big creaminess from start to finish here that is really enjoyable. Unfortunately, this flavor profile is nothing close to what I expect from an imperial stout.
Mouthfeel/Overall: Beer is medium bodied with low carbonation. Overall, disappointing for an RIS. It's extremely easy drinking and pretty flavorful, but no way would I classify as an RIS. When I first drank it I figured it was a regular stout or milk stout, but not an RIS. Just needs more flavor behind it. If it was a regular stout I'd love it, but as it is, not so much.
