Shared this with Brandoneast courtesy of his friend Corey. This was on draft, poured into a can and brought to the canning line for sealing. Poured a dark amber/crimson with beautiful carbonation. Tons of delicious bourbon notes up front on the smell, pretty boozey on the inital sip. This thing really reeks of bourbon and the smell is unforgetable. Aged in buffal trace bourbon barrels, the color is less dark than the original burried hatchet stout and is less viscous. Thanks brandon for sharing this true treasure. Hoping that Southern Star puts this one into production.

Anvil had some extra Buffalo Trace barrels, and Southern Star ended up putting some Buried Hatchet in. I am really excited about this.
A: Pour a dark, opaque brown. Nearly black color. A two finger beige head forms with excellent retention. Lots of spiderweb looking lace is left behind.
S: An awesome aroma. Toasted malt up front. Lots of chocolate and vanilla sweetness. Cream coffee as well. Lingering wood and a bit of warming alcohol in the nose.
T: For the most part, this follows the nose. Toasted malt, chocolate, vanilla. A bit more coffee and wood flavors. The alcohol is more prevalent as well.
M/D: A fuller body and low carbonation. Very creamy and smooth. Maybe a bit thin, but not bad at all. Easy to drink. I had several of these without a problem.
This is very nice. I really enjoyed it. Very well done and incorporated. I hope they make more. Highly recommended.
