12oz can to Libbey tulip

A – Hazy yet kind of clear; very translucent. A light amber with some yellow-green. Gives off a nice goldenish glow when backlit.

S – A nice sweet, bready Belgian smell, with a hint of green apple and straw. Some orange and honeydew from the Belgian scent, along with the bready, sugary goodness.

T – Taste follows smell closely. It fades quicker than I’d like. It tastes very much like a saison, and there is added hop flavor on the backend (in addition to the flavors that match the smell). I’m getting a sweet lemon upfront, then a bit of Belgian sweet bread and apple, but not as much as I’d like, and some spicy grass on the backend from the hops. As it warms, the last flavor lingers longer, but the middle Belgian flavor fails to come out.

M – A heavy-light body that slightly clings to the tongue. Finish is both wet and dry depending on location in the mouth. Moving outward from the tongue: dry, semi-wet, semi-dry. The carbonation spikes in the middle, which I don’t like. It lends itself to the refreshingness of the beer, but then goes a bit too far.

D – The smell is great, except for the slight off-smells. The taste follows the smell, but doesn’t express the Belgian character well enough, and fades a bit fast. The mouthfeel is refreshing, yet peaks a little too hard.

Banana, Clove, Rind, Dry

A Grisette is an old Saison-like style from French speaking Wallonia region of Belgium. Like a Saison, it’s unfiltered and pour on the cloudy golden side with thin white lace. The aroma is more akin to a German Hefeweizen with a distinct yeasty aromas of banana and clove. Creamy, smooth, more banana and clove, citrus rind bitterness, some grassiness, touch of saltiness, and rose water. Yeasty, earthy, herbal, and dry finish. Delicious.

The beer pours a cloudy orange color with a white head. The aroma is a mix of some farmhouse funk as well as some orange citrus and wheat notes. Very inviting. The flavor is more of the same. I get some hay, grass and grain notes as well as some orange citrus and other tropical fruit notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very easy to drink and very refreshing.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a cloudy wheat looking color, pretty much opaque. Smell- clove, spice, lemon zest. Not as strong of a smell as I have experienced from Saisons in the past, but this is my first Grisette, so who knows? Taste- strong carbonation, a sharp orange lemon blast to the back of the throat. There is a wheat like presence here as well. This one is awesome, and I'm sad they aren't canning it.

Can that pours light coloured body, with rapidly dissipitating head. Neutral at best aroma, a tad cheesy and yeasty. Average mouthfeel, some satisfaction in "slaking thirst" but not too drinkable. A tad of yeast, just not interesting. Thanks SliverX.

Poured from 12 oz. can into a Spiegelau tulip. Light gold in color with a two finger head that leaves quickly. Particles in suspension.
Smells of bread yeast with clove, some slight banana and pepper spices.
Taste follows nose. Love the pepper and banana. Banana not overpowering.
Feel is just right for me. Fair carbonation with a crispness that cleans the palate. None too heavy either.
Overall I really love this beer. Very drinkable and crushable with 5.5 abv. Recommend and will buy again. Great beer!

Had this for the first time as a small sample and couldn't wait to try it again so I picked up a growler first chance I got.

Pours like a light hefeweizen with a small head and plenty of carbonation. Smell has a nice light mixture of sweet citrus, banana, and a little saison farmhouse. Taste is very refreshing with a sweet character which mimics the smell. Mouthfeel is light with a good carbonation.

Overall this is a very solid beer. I would have preferred just a little heavier body, but as is it is a very refreshing drink on a hot summer day. It is a bit too easy to keep drinking this one.
