Pours burnt orange with brown hues. A thin layer of tan froth fizzes and pops away quickly, but this means very little, so let's move along because the aroma is promising.

Smell is pleasant with notes of plum, wild berries, Belgian yeast, tea leaves and sugar. Tastes grainy with fruity notes (raspberry, plum) and tea. Nondescript and directionless. We're running out of time here folks.

Has a weak, watery body with an unappealing sourness at the end. If you're looking for redemption at this point you're not gonna find it.

Riding the fine line between drain pour and latent redemption that is never realized resides a beer that should probably throw in the towel before it finds itself falling off the ledge of no return for good.

A-This beer display a cloudy darkish red amber with a strong foamy head that fades quickly on the pour. Specs of hops can be visibly seen in the pour.

S- It has an nice light apple crisp like smell that is a little weaker than I'd personally like.

T-Light simple slow building hop finish that doesn't do much for my tongue

M-A nice stingy refreshing starter quickly shifts as it moves through the mouth to the back. Being a summer seasonal in Texas this is definitely it's strong point.

O-This beer has a nice appearance with a light smell, taste and mouthfeel that leaves the drinker refreshed without the overwhelming flavors some beers are known for.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a footed tulip.

A: Amber-orange hue. Pours about a 2 finger, bubbly, white head. Settles quickly. Slight peak and valley lacing.

S: Nuts, cola, bubble gum, and a little hop.

T: Woody malt. With a slight bitterness and a slight hop.

M: Not light, but not full... no real aftertaste either.

D: Sip and enjoy.

Atmosphere is decent. Interesting hue, nice head, no real lacing. Nose is nutty with some strange sweet notes. Woody malt flavor with a slight bitterness and hop. Overall, this is a decent quaff.

750 ml bottle
Served in a pint glass

A - Hazy brown pour. Half a finger off-white head that dissipates quickly.

S - Not a strong aroma on this one. Some malts and bready yeast smell. Slight hint of pepper and spice. Small earthy hops smell as well.

T - Follows the nose. Sweet maltiness with bready qualities. Peppery spice in there as well.

M - Thin to medium body. Light on the carbonation.

O - Overall this is a nice drinkable beer. Not the top of the line up for Southern Star but a quality beer.

A deep, pretty heavily hazed copper color, Le Mort Vivant (Death Lives?) develops a soft, spritzy off-white head to about half a finger. It fades pretty quickly. What's left is a foam that clings to the edges of the glass. Just a little spotting sticks to the glass here and there.
I have to let it warm, since I get little to nothing at first. It is there, though, and it comes out when I let it sit for awhile. IT still isn't too potent, but I get a malt backbone with a bit of sweetness to it and a very light touch of funk. I detect a bit of graininess as well. A touch of hops may be detectable, but it's honestly just too light to figure much out from for some time. Eventually, it's mostly fruity esters and earthiness with a must, likely from yeast.
The flavor is surprisingly strong given the nose. It's malt-forward but with some citrus and floral hops, a light bitterness but plenty for the style. The fruity esters are strong but don't go unpleasantly sour, for time, and just a slight touch at the end. Yeast character is moderate and unoffensive. There's just a hint of alcohol in the flavor sneaking out at the end. There's a good bit of earthy mustiness throughout.
The body is light but with a particular thickness to it. It's got a crispness that leads to a creamy, mouth-filling smoothness.
