Voku Hila is a strong lager developed and brewed by Local Option Bierwerker. This helles bock is golden in color with a large, creamy, persistent white head; aromatically driven by robust toast and bread notes derived from continental European pale malts with moderate spice from noble German hops. Voku Hila will be appreciated by lager and mullet enthusiasts alike.

A - Pours golden in color with a one finger eggshell head.
S - Grainy, pungent, lemon and vegetal.
T - Still grain/wheat forward with light malts. A breadyness quality with slight floral aspects and a bitteresque finish.
M - High carbed and medium bodied, smooth as well.
O - It is what it is, nothing earth shattering or blind blowing.

Sampled last night on 2/13/16. Comes in a single 500ml (16.9 ounce) bottle from the Pub Dog Brewing Company in Westminster, Maryland (side of label). Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a 500ml handled-glass stein.
Brew pours a hazy orange-amber in color with a huge 4-5 finger foamy/creamy head that settled down to a good finger even after 5+ minutes. Lots of sticky ring-like lacing was seen when sipped that stuck to the sides of the glass, like a good German beer. Aroma is of hops, yeast, malts with a hint of spice. Taste is close to the nose with maybe a light hint of honey and caramel also. Slightly bitter finish but nothing to be concerned about at all. Full-bodied with medium carbonation. Overall a good brew.

Oddly cidery. Average beer. Wouldn't buy again on-draught.

500 ml bottle poured into lager glass. No bottle dating found.
Pours lightly hazy, amber-orange in color, with a good bit of visible carbonation. The body is topped by a moderate size, dense off-white head with good retention. Some streaks and spots of stickly lacing clings to the glass.
Aroma: grassy, herbal and lightly earthy hops mix with some yeasty spiciness and other aromatics. Hints of apple juice and baked bread.
Taste: towards the bold end of the spectrum for style. Aromas carry over to the flavor to which some honey and light pepper are added. Mild bitterness even on the finish More malt than the aroma reveals.
Feel: Medium carbonation and body; Smooth, with a somewhat crisp finish.
Overall: a good, relatively robust and earthy, maibock.

Enjoyed from the bottle in a DFH snifter. This nice helles pours a hazy golden amber with a slowly dissipating head of white foam that fades to a thin layer and thick ring of foam with very nice lacing. Nose of sweet breaded malts, light floral hops, and light honey. Flavors follow the nose with sweet breaded malts to all sides, sweet honey and light caramel malts to the middle and back, and a lightly spicy floral hop note with a light sweet bread aftertaste. Smooth and highly quaff-able mouth feel is aided by medium high carbonation that keeps the mouth feel lively with a subtle dry finish with a touch of a grain note. Very nice. ...even if I do not sport a---ahem----mullet.
Cheers
