One of my favorite places to hang and have a craft beer! Josh (the owner) is very generous and you can often see him enjoying a brew and chatting with people that own stores that also sell beer.

This is the main difference between the cutthroat wine industry and the friendly craft beer world. Craft beer drinkers typically just want to hang, have a good beer, have a good time, and leave corporate tactics to the corporations.

Josh is the epitome of the generous and friendly craft beer phenomenon and I know he has helped competing stores when the supply chain was disturbed.

Cheers Josh, to your great craft beer selection, friendliness, and help to others!

Update: September 22, 2012

So I stopped by Moe's this past Saturday after a long absence, my loss. This place just gets better and better. Along with My Place in Newtown, CT, my fave beer joint in this next of the woods, by far. The beer is always World Class, that's a given, but what sets this place apart is that it is unpretentious and comfortable, with fabulous music always playing. It reminds me of the small, local bars I grew up with in the NYC area. The owner, Josh, not only knows beer, but is a great host. I was also very excited to visit the new package store he has opened in the front of the same building, which houses Moe's. As with the tavern, unpretentious, just great brews and a nice easy going vibe. I wish I could grade this one even higher than 5.0 across the board. Thanks to Josh and keep doing what you are doing; we beer geeks appreciate it. If you have not made it to Moe's, get there; I guarantee you will have a great experience!!

Update: December 28, 2009

Had to visit Josh's joint again before the end of the decade. Boy, am I glad I did. Check out the draught line-up that was running on this snowy Monday in the Berkshires:

DFH 60 Minute (house beer @ $4)
Troegs Nugget Nectar
Stone Arrogant Bastard
Rogue Yellow Snow
Boulder Obovoid
Anchor Christmas 2009 (!)
Elm City Pils
Left Hand Milk Stout
Pretty Things Jack D'or (American Saison)
21st Amendment Monk's Blood
Bear Republic Heritage (Wee Heavy--see separate review)
Avery Old Jubilation ('Tis the Season)

As I have to drive an hour to home, I only had the Anchor and Bear Republic with a taste of the Pretty Things and Monk's Blood (thanks Josh).

OK, so if you folks have not made a special trip to this beer oasis, make a New Year's resolution to do so, for real. Wow!!

I had heard about Moe`s Tavern for some time now, not nearly as long as the one from the Simpsons, but they do have quite a bit of Simpsons paraphernalia up. Along with plenty of signs and other decor from craft brewers. I think I also saw a skateboard, maybe some skis on the wall.
For the beer, they have 16 or so taps. And then there is a small fridge with a selection of a few dozen bottles. I recall things from Founders, Stillwater, Atwater, Dogfish, Rogue and others. No food on premise, but I believe that they are ok with you bringing in take-out food from wherever. Only small downside is that prices are a bit higher than what might expect, particularly for this area. But, certainly worth a stop if you find yourself in the area.

Moe's is a must visit place for those who appreciate great beer. Tucked away on a little side street in Lee, Massachusetts, this clean and cozy establishment offers a fine array of bottled beers,as well as a great offering of tap beers. The service was excellent, and I am sorry I didn't get the guy's name behind the bar,but he was knowledgeable and efficient! It was a pleasure to have an Allagash White served at the right temperature and in the right glass!

The only thing that could make Moe's perfect is if they offered some kind of things to eat...unfortunately they stopped doing this a couple of years ago. Fortunately, there are several decent places to eat within walking distance, but they do allow you to bring in food.

I was pleased to find out that Moe's now has store front right on the other side of their bar location...I met Josh, the owner of Moe's,as he was manning the newly opened store. The great thing is the selection, featuring locally crafted beers,as well as many others...some you may have even sampled at the bar! Josh is definetly into what he is doing, and it shows. So sample some beers at Moe's and then walk around the corner to Trader Moe's for take-home!

Moe's is a great beer bar were you will find NO COORS LIGHT served but if you love great beer like Founders, Dog Fish, Allagash, etc. then this is the spot. The owner Josh who's there a lot really knows his beer and even if it's your first time he makes you feel at home. They don't serve food but they have take out menus from all the local restaurants that you can order from. Not only do they have a great beer list but if you like whiskey they have almost 100 different types. I recently had Founders Imperial Stout on tap and loved it. It's a little bit of a hike from Albany, NY or Springfield, MA but you could always convince the wife/girlfriend to drop you off while she hits the Lee outlet mall down the road.

On my way to Cooperstown and the Solid Sound Festival I visited Moe's Tavern. Looks like your neighborhood bar with some beer paraphernalia and other oddities decorating the space. Nice beer selection on tap with about 9 or so draught lines. The bottle list was decent too but not updated so we had to make 2 or 3 picks to get a beer they had in stock. Moe's does not serve food but they allow you to bring food there so thats cool. I liked Moe's tavern but I would not make it a destination, if your in the area definitely check it out.
Cheers

I visited Moe's while passing through the town of Lee and I was very impressed with this establishment.

The atmosphere was great. There was good music playing and lots of beer signs were up everywhere in addition to the sports stuff intermingled throughout the place.

The bartender was very friendly and helpful. I had Clown Shoes Clementine and Treogs Dreamweaver on tap. The beer selection was great with several good beers on tap. The bottle selection was also good.

They didn't offer food here, but bringing in food from other establishments was allowed.

Moe's is a great local spot which is definitely worth checking out in my opinion if you're in the Lee area.

I'm from Lee and go to Moe's regularly, so I'm a somewhat bias.

Moe's has opened me up to a new type of beer drinking. No more Bud Light or Coors Light for me. My brother took me there a couple of years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. There's a great selection of beers (no Bud or Coors Light). There are 13 taps that get rotated regularly, except for the Moe's house beer, which is Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA. One of my favorite things to do is "blend" the beers. Almost anything can be mixed with Atwater Vanilla Java Porter.

The atmosphere is great. There's always good music on. Usually Sirius Classic Rewind or Lithium. There's also 5 TV's with the NFL Sunday Ticket for football watchers.

The owner, Josh, is great. He's a real down to earth guy that you can find either at the bar or behind the bar almost every day. The bartenders are knowledgeable about the beer selection.

If I had a complaint (which is minor), it would be the lack of food. They used to serve it, but had to make some changes. But they don't mind if you bring in some food or even order something to be delivered.

I only hope that Moe's is hear to stay for a long time!

Moe's is awesome! I was contacted by another Beer Advocate member to check it out the next time I was in the Berkshires and it was a great suggestion. What a great beer bar! No food, but that is ok. I was there for the beer.
I met the owner who is a good guy, a self proclaimed ski bum, and is always looking for quality beer to offer to his customers. The day I was there he had DFH 60 min IPA for his house beer and was really promoting Founders.
Next time I am driving through on I-90 I will not stop at the regular rest area in Lee, I will stop at Moe's.

Moe's is an amazing place to have a beer. Not just a beer, but the best beers that America has to offer. It solely serves the best of American Craft beer, so you certainly won't find a Coors Light in the cooler. Instead you will be greeted by a bartender that can direct you to a full flavored craft American Lager from a microbrewery as a much better replacement.

They have plenty of beers on tap which usually range through some of the more popular craft beer styles, so you'll have plenty to pick from. If you want to wander outside your favorite styles, they'll be happy to recommend something new, and because they only stock the best of the best, it's sure to be a good example.

I live in North Carolina, but frequent Berkshire Country and this is always my first stop on my way into town. If you are a beer lover, this is a must go to.

Josh, the owner, can usually be found hanging out there and is very friendly with all his customers. Even though I may only get in there every other month, he and the bar staff always remember me. It's a nice little home away from home.

Cheers!

What a nice place - I wish I could trade my local and highly regarded 15-tap bar for Moe's Tavern. I've only been to Moe's once and we were the only customers in the middle of a weekday afternoon. The owner was in and out, but he and the hired help were veryl friendly and made us feel at home. I had an Allagash Tripel and maybe my wife had a Dogfish Head 90, but there were plenty of good options. We had another 1 1/2 hrs of driving ahead of us and not nearly enough time, so we couldn't stay for seconds. I don't pass through Lee that often, but we'll make a point to stop from now on.

A bit off the beaten path but well worth the search. Very casual atmosphere. The guys pouring the beer know their stuff. Good guys for a beer chat. The taps are rotated regularly and they offer a good bottle selection. I try to hit Moe's once a month (I work no more than a five minute walk from their front door.) Although they no longer offer food you are permitted to bring a bite to eat from one of the local shops into the bar. There isn't much of a night life going on in Lee and Moe's is a hidden gem.

I've been to Moe's 3-4 times so far and have never had anything but a great time there. Josh, the owner, is very friendly and personable, and his personality echoes through the place. They have a fantastic tap, bottle and can beer selection (all craft, no macro), and a fine selection of bourbons. Also, they have a nice selection of locally distilled spirits I'd never seen before (and thus have another reason to keep visiting western MA).

Moe's recently closed their kitchen to focus on their main product sales: beer. There are plenty of places to order out from, and Josh is cool with people bringing food in (and has menus for many of the local delivery kitchens).

Beer prices are about what I've come to expect from bard selling good craft beer. Pints range from $4-$6 mostly (unless it's something very rare or strong), and bottles cans are priced appropriate to their availability and strength.

If I lived in or around Lee MA, Moe's would be a de facto haunt of mine. It's a great place to relax with good company and enjoy some fantastic beer.

Stopped by on the way home from Albany. Located just a short distance from the Mass Pike in Lee Ma.

Great selection of American craft beers with the exception of some Canadian selections (they are still our friends, I think) Taps and bottles and plenty of televisions to watch your favorite sports team rip your heart out year after year. I had a Allagash White for a quick refresher. The place seems like a townie bar with a great selection of beers (nothing wrong with that). Lots of brewery point of sale on the walls, bartop, bathrooms ect.. (better than selling it on ebay)

All in all, nice place, great selection and would visit again if I lived closer

My only regret about this place is that I do not live closer to fill his part time tender's opening that being said, This place is Great. A few minutes after i walked through the door I was in love. Was it their similar affection for craft beer? Was it that they knew me by name(first and last)? Was it their awesome Tap selection? Was it their even slightly more awesome bottle selection? The overall Ambiance of a sweet little craft beer bar parked in a nice quiet town nestled in the berkshires? Friends I have no answers for you this day..Possibly on my next trip there I will have the answers that you seek. I reccomend this place to anyone who has the capability to get there, and the love for great brews as i have. this will be a place you will not forget. friend them on facebook as they update their tap list there regularly.

Prost!!

I finally visited Moe's and was thrilled that I did. I wish this place was closer to where I lived. It may a good thing it is not.

I have to say the atmosphere is AWESOME. This place is right up my alley. The decor, music, and overall vibe was great.

I did not realize that aside from it's top shelf liquor selection it is a American Craft Beer only. The beer follows suit with it being the best that there is to offer from America.

The service was great. The owner was actually the bartender so it was cool to chat it up with him.

They no longer serve food but he was quick to let us know that we are welcome to bring things in from the local shops.

Overall the prices were good. The ambiance rocked. I am torn between this place and Ye Olde Forge in Lanesboro. I prefer Forges beer selection as it is from all over the world and there food is great but I could sit in Moe's for hours and just have a blast. I will be going to this place whenever I can.

This little place deserves all the praise it gets. What a great lineup of beers. Great eccelctic atmosphere...multiple themes.Very interesting stuff...posters, cans, skis...you name it.
Popped in on a very quiet Monday afternoon after riding up Greylock's newly paved road...both sides..ouch, I need a beer NOW. Pretty Things ... Field Mouse Farewell ..Green Flash IPA. 13 good ones to chose from on tap and a really impressive bottle list.
The kitchen was closed, but the bartender said it was Ok to bring in food. She gave me a few suggestions around the corner.
Too bad that I rarely am in Lee, but I would be a regular if I was anywhere near it.

8-11-10 I am raising my ratings on service and selection. I have been in twice after my initial visit. I love this place ! The owner was training a new bartendar and they were both very cool. The selection is great...everything on tap was quality. I think I have to look for more excuses to be in the area so I can go here.

Update 2012 : I have been here several times now; about once a week in the summer.I have gone to lots of beer bars in the past 7 years. This, IMHO, is the best anywhere. Great beer selection, service
( it's either the owners tending bar or somone else who knows beer and makes you feel welcome) friendliness,atmosphere,vibe...always meet interesting people there.I have brought friends here; recomended it to others...everyone thanks me for letting them know about Moe's.

This place is a must stop if you're in the area.

I follow them on Facebook and the on tap selection is ever changing, it's great!

Walked in for the first time the other day and was greeted by name. First and last name. I was a bit shocked to say the least, and the beer is top notch.

I also heard their dogfish 60 min wings are award winning, but the kitchen is closed and under renovations. Also is full of kegs, lol.

The owner know his beers well. And know what glasses to pour them in. Excellent establishment.

I love the eclectic atmosphere. Simpsons paraphernalia, pulp fiction references, craft beer posters,... this is my type of place. The wife and I hiked Mt Greylock and this is right on the way home. The place is very clean. Clean draft lines, fresh food. I've never gotten better service anywhere. Josh is the man. We sat down and he went over every beer on the taplist with us. Our food order came out very quick. Everyone was so friendly. Open dialogue throughout the bar. The least pretentious craft beer bar that I've ever been to. Awesome selection. About 13 beers on tap... 0 wasted. All carefully selected. KBS keg in storage. Food menu is short but sweet. The wings and burger we had was very tasty. Everything was very reasonably priced. I have to restate - Josh is the man. Awesome place... may be my favorite.

Place keeps about 13 good american craft beers on tap (and fresh) and a great bottle selection (no Duff, or even Düff). They maintain a good mix on what's on hand for the season. There on a warm summer day, but they still had a couple good darker beers on hand, along with a nice selection of summery stuff. The DFH 60 Min IPA is the house beer that's always there.

Food menu is rather limited, but they do what they do well. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and the owner never seems to be out of earshot for long.

If you're in the area, be sure to stop in.

I've visited Moe's several times now in the past year and 1/2. Growing up in Lee, I remember this place when it was the Men's club. My father would bring me in and then the Budweiser and Schultz (Remember that one) Would fly.

Moe's has strayed far from those days. With a very large bottle selection and impressive Tap selection, you should be able to find several crafts brews to your liking. Atmosphere is very pleasant and the owner and bartenders with help you with anything. Small bar food selection, but it should compliment your favorite craft beer.
I love this place. I'm glad I only live 14 miles away.

Visited for the first time this past weekend - what a treat!

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with the walls covered in beer signs. It's a nice, small spot that wasn't overly crowded - a seat at the bar was easily procured. The bartender knew her shit, which is always a plus at a suburban beer bar.

With just 11 taps, the rare and diverse selection made up for it. I started with a McAuslin Oatmeal Stout on nitro, then into a Troegs Hopback amber, and finished with a Left Hand Warrior IPA. The bottle selection was phenomenal as well, with many rarities (Alesmith Speedway Stout, DFH Squall, Founders Breakfast Stout etc).

Overall, a great gem in western Mass that is a must stop if driving through on the pike...
