I poured this cheap looking beer into my tumbler at 50 degrees. The beer had a nice golden color and that was all that was nice. The smell was slightly sour and I thought the taste was sour or flat also. The head was nonexistant as was any lacing. Very poor quality beer and I will not buy again.

Purchased from the Belmont Station in Portland, OR on my first visit to the store.

This beer looks great, is crystal clear and has a decent head on top. Her nose is a bit timid, and could use some kick. Perhaps some additional Nobel or Saaz hops are in order. Flavor is OK but when in the same game as many great Czech Pilseners, you really have to be on your toes, and this beer fall a bit short. But, after a few more drinks I am getting into the beer more and I would say that It's worth a go. If you a fan of pilseners don't pay to much attention to ratings, just give it a go and decide for yourself.

Pours a clear golden color with moderate carbonation. Small white head that thinly lingers. Some lacing down the glass.

Smells light and grainy. Sweet mild malt scents too.

Can taste some grains - sweet. Mild hop finish.

Goes down very easily and stimulates the tip of the tongue.

A very drinkable pilsner. Perfect for a hot day or with a light meal.

A: Poured a clear, medium gold with light orange hues and a frothy 2 finger white head that was moderately lasting. The head was sticky and clung to the sides of the glass as it receded. Visible carbonation was light and sporadic.

S: fresh barley grains that smelled like they were fresh from the fields, with a dry herbal hopping.

T: For flavor there was a touch of dried buttered grain sweetness with a nice showing of spritzy lively lemons. A mild herbal hopping with light straw accents also is present. The flavor is very clean, crisp from start to finish and everything you could possible ask for by style.

M: light on the tongue, smooth, slick with a beautiful lemony zesty hopping that went just perfect with the fresh graininess. A slight carbonation tingle is experienced add to the experience.

D: Good drinkability, crisp, with a great grain palate and soft hopping that is perfectly fitted to style. An easy session and dare I say case worthy. Honestly this beer went down before I even realized it, was that smooth.

Pours to a thick bubbly head that falls to a thin layer and leaves plenty of lace. Color is deep golden. Aroma is of sweet pilsner malt and a bit of spicy Czech hops and a little butter. Flavor is a nice balance of Saaz hop flavor and aroma and clean, light malt sweetness. finishes with a nice dry bitterness. Pretty good stuff. I appreciated the slight buttery (diacetyl) taste which is reminiscent of what Pilsner Urquell used to be.

Poured from 1pt .9oz Euro style bottle into a Pilsner glass.

A - Slightly cloudy golden color. Head of fluffy white foam that faded into a bubbly film and left spotty/soapy lacing. The beer had good carbonation and a small amount of sediment was also detected.

S - Malty Eastern European Pilsner aroma, but some how, it seemed fresher and more pronounced.

T - Malty and crisp with a slight Euro skunkiness. The finish was clean and slightly dry.

MF&D - Light, crisp and easy drinking.

Single, twelve ounce bottle copped from Total Wine and More in West Orange for $1.49...
Pours a dark-golden hue with evident carbonation, an impressive head and a minor amount of lacing around the edge of the serving glass...
Faint aroma with hints of corn, grains, biscuits, and malts...
Taste strongly complemented the smell, with a thick bread and butter, nutty flavor that was crisp, clean, and refreshing...
Light to medium bodied mouthfeel, no alcohol detectable, very refreshing stuff and a good depiction of the style...

12 oz. green bottle. Served at 40 degrees F.

Clean, clear pale golden yellow. Strawish, you might say. Small, yet persistent, eggshell white head. Nose of honey-tinged malts, powdered sugar, sourdough starter, big Saaz-y hops. A little skunkiness, but also very sea-air like. Smells good! Starts with lightly toasted biscuit malt. Some tangy hop flavor in there as well. Bready middle, with hints of cardboard, honey, and fruit (apples, pears). Skunky, funky hop bitterness increases toward a dryish finish. Not bad, but could do without the wet cardboard. Light-bodied, with a refreshing, sparkling feel. Might be better fresh.

A solid pour produces a three-finger thick, pale tan colored head in my 25cl tulip glass. The beer is an amber tinged gold color that shows an almost brilliantly clear, bright gold color when held up to the light. The aroma is spicy with hop notes reminiscent of a mix of hay, lemon zest and a clean, almost earthy spiciness. Behind this are some malt notes of grassy grain, a touch of sweet pale malt and a nice saltine-cracker like toasty grain note.

The beer has a crisp, clean bitterness to it that just about cuts through the fullness of the malt. This has a certain heft to it, more than you typical, crisp German Pils, but perhaps not quite as much as a Budvar. The malt contributes a sweet grain flavor (just a touch of grassy honey), and a touch of cracker flavors as well as some light, grassy grain flavors. This has a fullness of malt character, but it is clearly a secondary note to the hops. This has a nice, pronounced hop spiciness to it as well as a touch of lemon zest, a light taste of dried hay and a herbal backdrop that yields ultimately to the clean bitterness.

This is quite a nice beer; so quaffable and it has an interesting clean malt character coupled with an outstanding Czech hop character. I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this beer, but it has proven to be a lot better than anticipated. I would be happy to quaff a few of these on a hot day.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Poured a clear golden orange with a good bit of carb although the 1/2 inch white head disappeared as quick as it formed. Smelled like a typical lager with minimal hops coming through, nothing much to speak of there. The taste was decent though very faint. Slight hop bite with apple, pear type sweetness. Heavy on the carb but it suits this beer well. Light, crisp and easy drinking. Not overly flavorful but would definitely pair nice with some brats, onions and kraut. Throw in a hot summer day and this could make due.

Half-liter bottle with no visible freshness date. There are visible protein clumps in the bottle, but there are almost none after the pour, though it does look unfiltered. The beer is solid gold, with low carbonation and three fingers of frothy white head that leaves a few rings of lace. In the nose it's mildly hoppy with a light dose of malts - not too aromatic, but pleasant. Tastes of nice noble hops and a bit of sweet malts. Grassy and spicy, with light lemon and pine, a little doughy, with a near medium bitterness on top of a light, dry body that has a lightish, hoppy finish. Not the best pilsner, but it's a very pleasing lager that is easy to session. Cheap and worth a try.

Pours golden with a large fluffy white head. A great amount of lacing is left on the glass.

The smell is grassy - lemongrass with a grainy background - a classic pils nose.

The taste isn't up to the aroma, though it stays in the realm of satisfactory. Swwet graininess overtakes the grassy/lemony character that was in the nose. Flavor fades a tad as it progresses, leaving a slight metallic touch. Pretty crisp finish, with a touch of bitterness.

Well-carbonated without being prickly.

On-spot for a classic pils overall. If the taste matched the aroma better - well, that would make for a better brew, but as it is its a classic refresher.

Pours a clear amber with no head. Nose is like dirty grains. Flavor carries a slight body and then goes metallic on me real quick. I have a feeling this might be drain pour very soon. Feel has a nice bubble on it, but a thin liquid feel. Overall. Not very good. Wouldn’t suggest it and not sure it is even worth trying. Pass.

Rebel Pilsner pours 2 stiff fingers of head over a clear yellow
brew. Carbonation is spritzy, and the nose is light barley malt
and lager yeast. The flavor is Czech Pilsner all the way- mellow
light malt up front balanced by spicy/herbal Saatz hops. Mouthfeel
is crisp and light, just the way it's supposed to be. It's not the most
complex Pils I've had, but it's perfectly drinkable, authentic, and worth a
try.

Darker than most pilseners. There is not much of a head but there is evident carbonation.

Strong corn smell. No hops that I can smell of but there is a grassy smell.

Good carbonation with a sweet flavor that leaves a small residue on your tongue. Minimal hop bitterness and flavor.

Easy to drink with good balance but would like more hop flavor in this beer, this is a pilsener after all.

A rebel beer this isn't, just your average european lager.

Nice golden brown color and plenty of carbonation. I used to buy this frequently because it was only 2 bucks for a 16.9 bottle. Of course with prices going up, it is no longer only 2 bucks. Anyways... It wasn't something that you would go out of your way for, but it did have some nice qualities that you would consider picking up a bottle or two along with a 6pk of something else.

Drunk from 16.9 fl. oz. bottle in inverted cone style pilsner glass.

Appearance--golden brown with limited head but very solid lacing down sides of glass. Pinprick size bubbles continue well into drinking the class. Very appealing.

Smell--gentle yeasty smell with a little of the Saaz hops to it.

Taste--early bitterness in the middle of the tongue. Hints of granny smith apple combination of tartness and sweetness early in mouth. Mellows into toasty/wheaty flavor on the upper palette.

Mouthfeel--surprisingly chewy. Carbonation is nicely balanced.

Drinkability--goes down nicely. Would go well with wiener schnitzel and hagymás krumpli (potatoes boiled and then sauteed with onions) or perhaps some not overly fatty pork sausages. The pucker on the tongue would leave me at least wanting to have something to eat if having more than one glass.

I had left Rebel alone after a couple of not-so-good bottles. After this one, I will definitely be drinking it again.

Light brownish gold in color. Thin bubbly head, good lace. Has a decent nut malt smell.

Solid malty tasting beer. Simply but good. This is one of those beers where nothing really jumps out that makes you say I gotta have that, but it is definitely a solid beer.

No bad after taste, goes down easy. But after you are done, you just want to say, ok, what's next.

Got this one at a beer tasting. No real head on a standard golden looking beer. Nose is fruit, some light spice. Flavor is mediocre, grain and malt. Mouthfeel is medium, standard for the type. Overall, a mediocre beer, not one I'd seek out by any means.

Pours a very dark gold color, perfectly clear, with only a minimal dusting of head. Smells like a typical, but uninspired, pilsner -- a touch of tangy hops, but not enough to make things distinctive, alongside some insipid, sour malt smells. On the palate, good bitterness first off, framed by dry, bready malts at the mid-palate. The finish is nicely dry, but the aftertaste is quite unpleasant -- kind of a vegetal and acrid. Overall, an OK pilsner with some serious flaws, but nothing to shout about and nothing to purchase again.

Have seen this beer many times, but never bought it because of the style--not my favorite. Since it's summer and lighter beers are not the worst thing, I decided to give it a try. Not bad.

Appearance is medium yellow. It is totally clear. There is a thin and quickly dissipating white head with little lace.

Smell is fresh and crisp with light malt presence. Not complicated, but simple malt with a bit of sugary sweetness and hop.

Taste is good and fresh. Light malt with a good deal of hop bite. Neither are overwhelming, but decent.

In the mouth, Rebel beer is pretty light but sharp. Medium carbonation.

On the whole, this is a drinkable beer. Not spectacular but refreshing with a nice biting presence. Good for a warm summer day, and possibly quite sessionable due to the lower abv.

I picked up a few bottles of Rebel whilst at Key Food in Brooklyn. I first got them b/c I wanted something drinkable for dinner. I saw them for 1.25 and thought why not. As they were zapped by the cashier I saw that they were in fact only 99 CENTS. I ran back and got a couple more.

Now to the beer. Overall not my favorite Czech Pils, but pretty good and really drinkable. The mouthfeel is near perfect smooth yet a bit bubbly. Also the appearance is great, orangish gold with a nice foamy white head. The aroma was a bit too skunky, but well within the style. Good taste, honeyish, but again to skunky for my tastes.

For the price, it can't be beat. Get Budvar or Krusovice if you are not being cheap though.

A decent bohemian Pilsner.

Looks and tastes remarkably like Pilsner Urquel, not quite as good, but for the money a tasty brew.

Clear golden, well crafted, with plenty of long lasting carbonation. Great ice-cold.

Smells like hops and skunk, the way a pilsner should.

Tastes a little weaker than the more revered czech pilsners, but has it's own unique citrusy bite and enough skunk to taste Czech. Not as sweet as some of the others I've tried, which I like. Clean and Refreshing.

A little thin and weak, but easy to throw down at the end of the night or on a hot summer afternoon, and at 1.29 for a half litter, the price is right.

Poured a clear copper color with a small white head that didn't leave much lacing. Has a sweet malt, bready smell to it, not much in the way of hops. Has a sweet malt flavor, almost caramel, followed by nice hop flavor. The hop is not as pronounced as Amercian pilsners but it adds to the drinkability. Has a light mouthfeel but not watery, no dryness to be detected. Not as zesty as I would have thought but it has a nice subtle hop flavor.

A quite hoppy Pils with little malt balance. The appearanc eis golden with and nice hoppy nose and yes the hops do dominate this brew. As said before quite hoppy so not the best balance for this Pils. Smooth moutheel silky yet cleansing and astringent. The pucker at the end leave the drinkability a little lower than other Pils.
