12oz bottle, no freshness dating.
Pours a lovely dark gold, crowned with fluffy cloud of head.
Sweet to the nose; I'm getting alot of banana from the malt & yeast.
Sweet & malty with a fruit-like character. Notes of banana, peach & toffee. The Saaz hops creep in at the end, giving balance to the full-bodied maltiness.
As stated, as full-bodied as it gets for a pilsner. Quite enjoyable.
A bit surprised by the lower ratings here. This offering alone shows me why Czech pilsners are renown the world over, and are drunken by the litre in their homeland. (554 characters)

Probably as authentic of a Czech Bohemian Pilsner as I have had. Not as clean as more popular German Lagers, but more notable in sweetness, earthiness, and rusticity.

The beer opens with a mildly hazy pour of deep gold or light copper color. Initially good head formation of bleached white foam but the head falls quickly and looses carbonation for a rather dull appearance.

Pilsner malt and fresh baked breads take precedence in the nose. Backed up by a lot of earthy, yeasty goodness: pungent hops, a grain/malt mix, light vegetable notes and low lying fruitiness.

Sweeter than expected, the malt profile is first and foremost in taste. Again, a mix of maltiness and graininess set the stage, then allowing the spicy and pungent hops to give a strong herbal flavor and eventually rising bitterness. Pears and apples give an estery note that weaves in and out of the malt sweetness, giving the beer a bit more complexity though misplaced in this style. Bold flavors of yeast and stale breads make me think this beer might not be the freshest. A blend of corn-like vegitable and light butter flavor make too much of an impact to consider this a great example.

Again, heavier in the body compared to other European Light Lagers, this Bohemian Pilsner lays on the tongue a bit longer because of the fleeting carbonation, creaminess, and sprite. Finishes with a mouth-coating maltiness and graininess.

This is a fair beer for its style but the elements of age may be hurting it a bit. Not a good comparable to Pilsner Urquell. (1,528 characters)

Rebel Czech Pilsener was a clear amber color with a half inch, off-white head that quickly faded to a collar.

The aroma was just a sweet grainy smell, with zero skunk aroma.

The taste was sweet, grain (hey, it's a pilsener), and bread & buttery. Just a little bit of salt too.

The mouth feel was almost medium bodied, oil and reasonable carbonated.

The drinkability was fine, taste being better than adequate and a respectably low 4.4 ABV.

A bit better than the average pilsener. I noticed a lightly musty aroma late in the beer after it had warmed. (559 characters)

Pours a nice golden color with a frothy white head into my pint glass. Good presentation here. Not much else to note.

Aroma is a mixture of sweet, slightly bready malt with a decent amount of hops in the nose. Inviting aroma.

Taste is full of sweet malt with only a slight hint of hops. No harshness here. Leans more towards buttery bread.

Mouthfeel is full of lingering sweet malt and hops and they stick around as well. Decent. Again, nothing harsh.

Not bad for the style. Highly drinkable but likely too simplistic. I was hoping for more of a harsh hop bite. Absolutely worth a try. (590 characters)

A--amber, pale gold.

S--Hints of toast, honey, distinctly sour.

T--Malty, distinct taste of hops, caramel, bitter aftertaste.

M--Round, goes down easily, smooth.

D--probably not, unless I crave a bitter, malty beer. Not what I'd reach for on a night out with friends or while lounging at home. (298 characters)

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very mild, some malts. Taste is crisp, slightly sweet, some malts and fruits, very flavorful. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and goes down with ease. Overall this is a high quality brew. (273 characters)

A: Pours golden with a thin head that settles very quickly. Head retention is low, but lacing is somewhat decent.

S: There is not alot on the nose. Some biscuity malt and a faint hint of fruity, floral hops.

T: More malty than other Czech Pilseners. Fruity, with hints of toast, and it's finish is dry, with hints of grass and green fruits.

M: The best quality this beer has is the mouthfeel. It's medium bodied, and somewhat viscous. The finish is longer than other beers of this style.

D: This beer is enjoyable, and easy to drink, but there are others of this style that I would go for first. (599 characters)

Being somewhat unsophisticated in" beerology", my comment is, I Like it, it tastes great, and I'm glad I found it.
Head is smooth,semi-lasting. While I prefer more of a "hoppy" taste, this one makes it just fine.
Definitely worth an additional purchase (252 characters)

Review relative to style. Pours pale golden color with beautiful large & creamy white head. Nose is light with a whiff of hops. Very light malt flavor with light balancing of hops. Extremely refreshing and drinkable, and far superior to U.S. comparables. (254 characters)

Good looking dark golden clear bubbly body with a nice big head. Smell is floral and fruity with a dry biscuity backbone. Clean and balanced flavor. Some pine, lemony citrus cut nicely by a spicy hop bitterness and yesty fresh baked bread and sweet toffee like malts. Good sharp carbonation makes for a crisp and refreshing mouthfeel. Maybe just a little metalic skunky aftertaste comes out, but not bad. Overall very clean and skunk free. Probably the least skunk filled European lager I have ever had. Nice beer. (514 characters)

As a lover of pilsners (especially the Czech persuasion), I find too often that people simply bash beers they have no clue about. As a solution, I've decided to buy every pilsner/helles/dortmunder I see and make an informed decision. This cost $1.99 at DeCicco's.

An absolutely spectacular pour with a gorgeous, crystal clear golden orange with a dense white head with excellent retention and lacing. My Moonlight glass was made to show this beer off!

The nose is solid. Not as good as can be, but still good. Mild grainy sweetness with a delicate honey character and a touch of lemon hop character. Mildly sulfury as well

Rather lackluster, this beer opens with a delicate grain character, very dry and cracker like with a mild husky flavor. Hop flavor is also quite restrained, there's a little earthy character. The finish is solid, a touch of bitterness appearing initially before a strange medicinal astringency appears. The sulfur character grows as it warms. Just a little thin and watery for my liking, the body could use a little more heft. Drying on the finish, this is an easy to drink beer, one that I'd like to try fresh. (1,137 characters)

Ho hum pils. name Rebel is perhaps a bit melodramatic. In any case, a drinkable pils of no special attributes. Head is white and a bit of lace. Color is a clear yelllow. Aroma is crisp, yet slightly malty and hoppy, & beery. Flavor is about the same. Average body and carbonation. Ditto finish. Ok beer. If it had a different name, I'm sure I'd have a better opinion. Just me. sorry. Rebel YELL! (395 characters)

A - Straw color yellow, very bright, with a good amount of carbonation. Small white head that faded too fast, but at least left a covering.

S - Clean malt smell, but not a lot of it. Grain aroma really comes though.

T - Crisp and simple. Although not a lot of sweetness, it comes though without any real hop presence. Then it almost seems like there is a coin in your mouth as it finishes

M - Thin and watery, like a pils, nice little tingle from the carbonation, doesn't feel much different than carbonated water.

D - It is refreshing and has a nice grain flavor. Good picnic/BBQ in the sun beer, but not one I would care to drink while the beer was the focus of attention.

Overall the beer isn't bad, but I won't purchase it again. (738 characters)

Pours a medium amber with white pillow head. Aroma is classic Czech pills, not overpowering, but a nice kiss. There is a hint of smokiness in the taste, malt sweetness, and finishes with a nice slight hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is luscious and drinkability is very high. Nice solid beer, an excellent Czech pils-though not one that is the typical yellow gold. (358 characters)

500ml Bottle. Awesome label.

App: True gold with fluffy, white 2 finger head

Smell: Caramel malt and nothing but. Not what i look for in a pils, especially a czech one.

Taste: Greeted by the caramel malt. Next follows a bit of a chemical taste. Ends with a sharp, burning hop bitterness from those czech hops. A rather light flavor.

Has the mouthfeel of a cheap american lager: light but sticky.

Not a great beer, but i'd have this over alot of others. (458 characters)

Poured from a pint bottle into a 20 oz. beer mug.

A - Wow. A beautiful, crystal clear orange amber with a fluffy little pilow of head that retains decently and leaves oodles of frosty white lacing.

S - Grains and floral (lavender) hoppy aromas abound, with a slight metallic twang and some noticeable bitter notes on the nose.

T - The floral notes give a slight layer of sweetness to the grainy taste, with the hop bitterness apparent but very subdued. The other hoppy flavors help round out the fairly standard taste.

M - Light and fizzy. Not necessarily bad, just not a transcendental mouthfeel. But I don't drink pilseners for that exclusively

D - The ABV is nice and low and the flavors are light yet well balanced, making this an easy choice for sessioning.

overall - A very underrated pilsener, in my opinion. It's got enough flavor to make it enjoyable to drink, but is light enough to warrant drinking the whole pint without ill effect. An admirable choice for a session brew. (990 characters)

Pours golden-yellow with a white head that fades into a thin lace. Smells of clean grains, grassy (I guess) and a lot floral noble hop notes. Tastes mildy sweet. Pale malty flavors. Vaguely metalic and a lot of floral, aromatic hops. Noble hops (saaz I'm sure) dominate the palate. Slight bitterness keeps the beer refreshing throughout drinking it, along with the fairly high amount of carbonation, giving it a sharp "nip" when you swallow each gulp. Drinks easy. Not a bad pils, a fine standard example of the style. (518 characters)

This is an excellent Czech pilsner with strong flavour and subtle complexity.

Darkish gold, it has a medium-large, creamy white head slowly shirnking to a permanent, small foamy top and leaving a fair amount of lace in some frothy rings.

The aroma is strong grain and bread, lightly fruity, with grass, herbs, honey, and a hint of mineral. Ovarall, it has a good Czech aroma.

The also a a nice, characterful, yet light Czech character. It has a lot of lightly toasty bread, light fruitiness, with grass and herbs, light sweetness balancing a light, zesty bitterness. Although the sweetnes seems to just barely have the edge over the bitterness at first, beyond the finish the bitterness lingers lightly. It's light in body, but slightly oily, well-rounded in fel with lively, zesty frothiness, a very nice texture. Although straightforward and light, it has good flavour and light complexity and the character holds up very well, with great balance of the elements. (968 characters)

Rebel is a very clear golden beer with a soft, dense white head that fades and leaves good lacing. The aroma is fruity, rather sweet, with perhaps a touch of funk. It smells pretty nice and actually reminds me of the way Bedele smells. It's pretty light bodied and a little papery, especially at the finish. The flavor is well balanced with a light, grassy bitterness, notes of lemon and pretzels, and a hint of sweet malt. It's better than most European Lagers I've had. It must be because of the brown bottle. (511 characters)

Pours a darker yellow than other pilsners with one inch of white head that quickly settles. Moderate amount of lacing is left on the glass. Has a noble hop skunk aroma. A little sweet malt is also noted. The flavor is on the sweeter side of pils. Mild graininess and moderate amount of noble hop flavor. Nice texture and body to the beer. It is light bodied with carbonation that is not harsh. I prefer my pils to be on the drier side. If you like them a little sweet, this may be an option for you. (499 characters)

Pour into my Trumer Pils Glass at 41 degrees.

Appearance: A medium burnish gold color in the body of the beer. There is a stable one finger white head that is foamy and slightly creamy. There is a lot of effervescence in the beer. The clarity of the beer is brilliant.

Nose: A mild floral aroma and I can smell the malt in the beer. In the nose there is subtle sweetness on the end.

Taste: A mild floral and hints of citrus taste with a week malt back bone.

Overall: The mouth feel is carbonated. The body of the beer is medium light and the finish is tad bit bitter. Okay for this beer to be a good Czech beer the Saaz Hops needs to be more pronounced. I think I got an aged bottle of beer. The beer is bland, uninteresting, and okay at best. (750 characters)

Poured from bottle into pilsener glass.

A - Straw yellow, very little head but decent carbonation, very bubbly.

S - Grass

T - Very light, The beer has a very earthy taste which is not always a good thing. I taste some type of adjunct(whether its actually there or not) something about this beer is reminiscent of Pabst.

M - Not as crisp as I'd expect, I wish there was a little more carbonation

D - Overall an unoffensive beer but certainly not a great beer. I'll finish the bottle but won't buy again, although if it was given to me I wouldn't refuse it. It was $1.69 for a 16.9oz bottle so I figured I had nothing to lose. (629 characters)

12 oz picked up at the Coop over the weekend.. it looked new to me... and I love a good Czech pils.. so why not?

Poured into my shaped SA glass.. 1" head leaves nice lace and a descent cap above a crystal clear golden brew.

Nose is expected graininess.. sorta bready with a more spicy than floral hoppiness.. very clean.

Flavor mirrors the nose perfectly.. nice malt profile with the near perfect hoppiness... the only real complaint is it sorta has a metallic component as it warms.. I could be imagining it.. but I don't think so... still very clean and pretty damn good for the style.. the body is medium and so is the carbonation..

I actually will probably buy this again. It wasn't expensive.. and I like the fact that it's in brown bottles and has no skunkiness..
