I'm a bit disappointed by the appearance of this beer. It's got a rich golden color, but virtually no head. A scant ring and cloudy only seconds after the pour. I've got a case, so I'll update the review if I get different results in the future.

As for smell, I've got a bit of malt and some spicy hop. The hop stands out.

Served, at cellar temperature, the beer tastes great. It's full bodied and loaded with flavor. Just a bit of carbonation, but plenty of hoppy bitterness to provide some zing.

For mouthfeel, it's a little rougher than some of the other brews from this area but still, a nice mix of soft and clean.

Overall, a fine beer. I've got to take off a few points for the relatively minimal smell, but quite good.

The bottle says that the brewery was founded in 1333, and I think I must have just tried one of their very first beers ever made, from around the same date. Atleast thats the way it tasted... Pure Skunk. The ridiculous amount of skunk flavor was so intense that it overwhelmed every aspect of the beer. I didnt pour it, so I cant say anything about the appearance, but all I could smell was putrid skunk, and all I could taste was bitter skunk. As soon as I took a sip my girlfriend said she could smell my skunk breath from the other side of the house. I'm not sure if this beer was really meant to be this way or if I just ran into an outrageously old bottle. I may try again just to see.

Appearance: A substantial half-inch snow-white head tops a brassy golden colored beer with many streams of fast-rising carbonation. There is an abundance of thick broken lace.

Aroma: A rather skunky euro lager aroma dominates; there are underlying sweet malt notes and a quite restrained floral hop aroma.

Taste: Opens with a mildly sweet, bready malt, and grassy notes, which soon disappears under an onslaught of excessively bitter metallic hops. These linger well past the point of being refreshing, or even welcome. The finish is crisp and a bit dry.

Mouth feel: Smooth and very pleasant, with just a bit of carbonation sting.

Drinkability/notes: The heavy-handed use of hops spoiled my enjoyment of what would have otherwise been a pleasant beer. Czechvar is a much more pleasing example of the style.

There are 3 inches of creamy white, bubbly fluffy head that leave crusty, sticky lacing. The beer is a very clear, rich gold. Big Saaz nose: spicy, almost cinnamon. Very nice. Starts crisp, fresh, fruity with some serious caramel through the faint, tingly middle. Finishes nicely bitter, dry, crackers. Some nice grain. Not bad at all. Some nice caramel and grain with temperature. I like it.

My Green 12 oz bottle looks like a scaled down version of the pictured bottle, mentions the brewery was founded in 1333 but no other information.
Aroma: Pepe LePhew has nothing on this baby. Strong skunk aroma that I identify with Heineken, not unpleasant, mostly of a diacetyl buttery character with some peppery hop overtones to it as well.
Appearance: Three finger white head settled to about a half a finger leaving thick clumpy lace. Glass is clear gold with tiny bubble carbonation streams.
Flavor: Classic pilsner profile, spicy hops on a full bodied malt beer. The BJCP lists this one as a classic example. Something of a buttered pepper.
Mouthfeel: Surprisingly rich and full given the clarity. Dry clean finish.
Overall Impression: A good Pils. Clean, full, refreshing, it’s everything it should be. I feel like my scores are for the style more than the beer, this one is well made. Thanks to BA Pegasus for dropping one off for me to try, and to BA assurbanipaul for recommending it.

As a Czech lager this suffers in comparison to its competition, but it's not without its merits; and to be fair, there is some stiff competition! It's crystal-clear, golden body is quite attractive; and it's frothy bright-white head holds a short lid fairly well but leaves only minor spotty lace about the glass. The nose is bold with a combination of grainy malt and some spicy, floral, and mildly grassy hops. The flavor delivers a nicely balanced combination of grainy malt and spicy, herbal, and floral hops. A solid bitterness permeates it, and leaves it dry in the finish with some lingering hops. There are better examples of the style available at the same price; but it remains an enjoyable pils in it's own right.

Poured light golden with thick white head. Decent lacing.

Smells of malt, maybe a bit of corn and grainy.

The taste is grainy, maybe a bit skunky. There's no date on the bottle. A faint hop bitterness and sour grains.

Mouthfeel is smooth and light, leaning toward crisp.

Smooth, mellow, easy drinking.

An OK beer, but I don't think I'll ever have another.

This brew is a pale straw gold color, with a white bubbly head topping it off. Sweet malt and spicy hops combine for the aroma. Sweet malt up front, clean grains, blended bitter hop backbone. Fairly creamy mouthfeel. Some sort of weird aftertaste takes off a couple points, but overall not bad.

Pours a light gold with a tall fluffy white head. Aroma is grassy, light hay and malt with a slight skunk.

Taste is dry, nutty, salty and lightly bitter. Light golden malt with a bitter following of mild yet sharp hops. Fuller, nuttier flavor emerges towards the middle. Finish is very dry, clean and slightly acidic, perhaps with a touch of lemon rind.

Mouthfeel is rather light with active carbonation, a very fresh bottle. Refreshing and easy to drink, this tastes like what I think an Urquell should taste like. Nice to see another pils selection in this area.

12-oz green bottle, poured into a tall slender flute. Just became available in Dallas this week. I picked up one of the first 6-packs, so it's pretty fresh.

Appearance: Very clear golden color, with slight head of foam. Continuous stream of small bubbles floating up through the beer.

Aroma: Pleasant flowery aroma. Very little malt on the nose.

Taste/Body: Lots of hops up front, bitter and floral tasting. Malt is there if you search for it, but not prominent. Finish clean and quite dry. Medium body, with crisp carbonation.

One of the better Czech pilsners available in the US. Drier than Pilsner Urquell, with perhaps a touch more hops. Bohemiam pilsners aren't my favorite style, but every now and their their delicate subtlety is appealing.

Pours a crystal clear, hay like gold, topped with a two finger puffy white head, did not lace at all. Full of tiny streams of bubbles.
Grain and grass aroma, some lemon zest.
Grainy, biscuit, grass, and citrus zest in the taste. Weird apricot/toffee aftertaste.
Light to medium bodied, I wouldn't bother trying it again.

16.9 oz bottle, no freshness date.

Pours out pale straw and sits golden amber in the glass with a 1/2 finger fluffy white head, nice lacings, and likes to stick around for the show.

Aroma is all malts, sugary sweet. Some nice, light floral background to it, smells kind of like tulips. Fruitiness is minimal, some fresh apples and green grape skins.

Taste is a full, malty presence. Sugary sweet with fruit concentrate like characteristics, apple primarily, some grapelike sourness as well. Hopping is purely herbal, adding a very mild spiciness to the mix. Finish is nicely bittered.

Voluminous in the mouth, medium body, smooth, rich and very mild, natural feeling carbonation. Easily fits into your mouth in every way.

I have no major quarrels with the beer. It's look, smell, taste and feel is all there. Granted, it's nothing to sing about, but it doesn't dissapoint. Bottle is drained with ease.

Deep dark golden yellow. Strong odor of cheap skunky beer, like bud. Very little head. Smell is overwhelming while the taste is barely there. Sharp bite on the mouthfeel. Starts out bitter; slightly sweet in the middle and on the very short finish. Not impressed yet somehow less bad than I expected.

Light puffs of dusty cereals over a base apple juice sweetness. Robust gold body, active, covered in a swampy haze.

Great bitter hop overtones in the mouth and a medium body. Medium carbonation. As it warms, it develops a bizarre ginger ale taste, which I enjoyed. Aftertaste is weak and metallic, which makes it sound like it's strong and powerful--but really it's not that good.

The after its release from the 12-ounce green bottle sets in the glass a luminous gold with a mountainous bright white head that is frothy in texture and the lace a fine covering upon the glass. Nose is sweet malt, fresh and clean to the senses, start quite sweet, fair malt profile and the top thin. Finish is moderate in its acidity, the hops apropos to the style, drinkable but not anything special.

Poured a clear golden yellow colour with a thick frothy white head. The aroma was of sweet malts and saaz hops. The taste was mildly hoppy with a malty sweetness.
Not a bad beer by any means. I'm not the biggest fan of pilsners, but this may just be one of the best beers you can drink while sitting alongside the pool. Comfortable and easy going.

I had some high expections going in with this beer, but this has seriously let me down. Poured out a light golden color with a decent amount of carbonation. Looked nice actually. Smell wasn't that great. Some hops were detected but that was it. Taste was the same as smell. Some hop bite was noticable along with some metallic flavors which lasted into the aftertaste. I was really expecting more from this beer, perhaps it was a bad bottle, some skunkiness was in the aroma, but this was a let down for sure. Try it at your own risk.

Arrived a very nice straw golden hue with miniscule head, which quickly disapated to almost nothing...very thin ring and minor lace.
Carbonation is medium at best but appropriate.
The body is medium as well.
Aroma is of the skunk initially but quickly disapates to a minor in yeast.
The taste is very nice...equal balance to begin...malt/hop with a short explosion of hopiness to end.
No linger.
This is a session beer, of that there is no doubt!!!

Crystal clear, bright yellow-amber. The head is average in size, somewhat frothy, not all that long-lived and leaves almost no lace. The aroma is spicy-musky, an aroma that I usually associate with noble hops. When less than fresh, it's a smell that reminds me of a skunk's scent, although I don't believe that this particular beer is actually skunked.

Nothing special on the palate. It tastes like grain with the aforementioned noble hop aroma translated into less than fresh noble hop flavor. There's also a biting bitterness that borders on quinine-like and an underlying metallic flavor. For all of that, it is drinkable. Calling it enjoyable, though, is going a bit far.

I've heard so many good things about Czech beer, but Rebel is almost certainly not one that aficionados have in mind when praising the brewmasters from that country.

Appearance: Rich, crystal clear gold color, with small, quickly-fading head. No collar or lacework to speak of.

Smell: Surprisingly fruity, almost like an ale. Plums and hints of banana, in the main. Mild hop character.

Taste: Very faint sweetness, which is quickly overwhelmed by the tartness of the flowery hops. A pronounced buttery character manifests on the way to the dry, hoppy finish.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, with a surprisingly restrained carbonation for the style. It's still festively bubbly, but not as much as other lagers I've had.

Drinkability: It's a good, solid lager, but I think I'd grow bored with it in short order. Then again, I feel that way about most pilsners, so take that with a grain of salt.

I happen to believe that a lager should be clear. That's part of its charm. This beer is unfiltered which detracts from its appeal. Many of the properties common to most Czech lagers are repeated here. The color, the aroma, taste -- been there, done that. This is not a bad beer, but the flavor is off a note and there are otherwise no special attributes to be found. This is a run-of-the-mill lager that fails to distinguish itself from a sea of more worthy contenders.

The Czech Rebel Beer has a basic golden yellow appearance. There isn't anything that really stands out to me and there's not that hurts this beer either in the appearance.

The smell was sort of bland to me, I didn't get an awakening aroma that stood out and caught my nose.

The taste is a little above average. It sort of has a smooth taste, I can't really figure this one out.

The mouthfeel is average with a crisp bite to it. Nothing really special here.

The drinkability is about average. I could sit down with a few of these but nothing really stood out for me.

Overall I think this is an alright beer but nothing I would highly recommend.

Light carbonation and very little head. Head was creamy and white, very small and faded quickly.

Color is slightly darker than the "American Pilsner yellow". Clear beer with small and sparse carbonation bubbles. Inviting nose includes munich malts and a slight hop nose.

Flavor is slight but complex-- dextrin, followed by a bright hoppy note and a mellow long slide toward bitterness as the sip leaves the tongue. Very drinkable, goes with anything, and the price is pretty good.
