Poured from 16.9oz bottle into 23oz NY Mets pilsner glass.

Appearance: Golden color with a medium-sized white head that dissipates somewhat quickly, leaving behind spotty lace.

Smell: Sweet grains dominate, with some grain husk hints and mild citrus. Corn notes.

Taste: Begins with sweet grains and citrus hints, finishing grainy with mild grassy hops and some sweet apple flavor. The aftertaste is a lot like corn...

Mouthfeel: Lighter, crisp body with sharp carbonation and a clean, refreshing finish.

Drinkability: Having enjoyed many Czech pilsners while living in Slovakia for three months, I consider myself somewhat an expert on the style. This one is a bit lacking compared to many, but isn't necessarily bad. Fairly average overall- I can't say it's not worth it, but there are others of the style I would try before this one. A real Czech pils shouldn't have the corn flavors, either, but luckily this one doesn't have overwhelming corn notes, preventing it from being terrible.

look: 4.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 4 | overall: 3

Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a nice, frothy head that is impressive in its stickage and leaves a few clumps of foam behind

Smell: Bready malts, with the classic Euro lager twang to the aroma that borders on the skunk, even though the bottle is brown

Taste: Bread, up front, with a sweetening of the malts at the same time as the bitter hops take command; I just don't care for the hop profile of many Euro lagers (I know this is a Czech Pils) but the sweetness that develops underneath builds considerably after the swallow

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with crisp carbonation

Drinkability: Not sure I care for the sweetness and wonder what is causing it but I certainly don't find the hop profile on this beer appealing, either

Clear, golden in color, with a white head. Large bubble of carbonation and a bit lacing are present. This brew has a semi-sweet, grainy aroma. The flavor again is of grain with a bit of sweetness in the start. The finish is abrupt and dry. The hop bitterness is minimal. I also detected a bit of a metallic flavor in this one. Overall it is a smooth, easy drinking beer; nothing extraordinary stands out.

My Green 12 oz bottle looks like a scaled down version of the pictured bottle, mentions the brewery was founded in 1333 but no other information.
Aroma: Pepe LePhew has nothing on this baby. Strong skunk aroma that I identify with Heineken, not unpleasant, mostly of a diacetyl buttery character with some peppery hop overtones to it as well.
Appearance: Three finger white head settled to about a half a finger leaving thick clumpy lace. Glass is clear gold with tiny bubble carbonation streams.
Flavor: Classic pilsner profile, spicy hops on a full bodied malt beer. The BJCP lists this one as a classic example. Something of a buttered pepper.
Mouthfeel: Surprisingly rich and full given the clarity. Dry clean finish.
Overall Impression: A good Pils. Clean, full, refreshing, it’s everything it should be. I feel like my scores are for the style more than the beer, this one is well made. Thanks to BA Pegasus for dropping one off for me to try, and to BA assurbanipaul for recommending it.

Serving type: 12-ounce bottle. There is no freshness date.

Appearance: Poured into a pilsner flute. The color is clear, deep gold. A finger of white head dissipated fairly quickly and left an even skim and ring around the edge.

Smell: I got a whiff of delicious grassiness when I popped the cap — a good sign, no doubt. Scents of apple, grape, strawberry, and maybe a touch of banana make it sweet and fruity. It is grassy as well, though the grassiness is pretty tame. There is a touch of skunk, too.

Taste: The mouthfeel is dry and the flavor offers a nice pilsner bite that jabs the tonsils. It is very herbal at first with touches of spice, but then the esters take over: apple, grape, strawberry, and a touch of banana. As it warms, the taste is reminiscent of apple juice — albeit with a beer-like bite.

Drinkability: I wish it would have been a little grassier or skunkier, but it is tasty and refreshing.

12 oz brown bottle
This beer is a very clear golden color. The white head did not last long at all. There is light hop aroma with a little malt also. This beer starts out very crisp then slightly malty with an odd finish. A pretty average easy drinking beer.

While not a top pilsner, this beer is not bad, certainly much better then mass produced beers in the U.S. Nothing special about it though, as it poured very clear, with not much aroma. Sort of a reserved grain like flavor, which blends with a slight bitter tone. Not much else for me to say, other then it was enjoyable, clean tasting, and could be consumed with ease.

Hot day, cold beer. On to the beer:

The snow white inch thick collar on top makes a great contrast with the golden straw color of the beer. Retention is fine, lacing is good. The nose is similar to many lagers of Central Europe; straw/hay, some honey sweetness.

The flavor is very light in intensity. Light cracker flavor, very little maltiness doing here. Proccessed bitterness towards the end of the sip, and it hangs around a while. Hints of honey are echoed. Like the flavor, the mouthfeel is very light, this being on the watery side. Because of it's lightness, it's easy going down, yet that lingering bitterness lowers its drinkability potential.

I was excited to try this Czech Pilsner, but that's where it ends. It's okay, though not worth a second purchase at $2.99 for a 12 ounce bottle.

Ho hum pils. name Rebel is perhaps a bit melodramatic. In any case, a drinkable pils of no special attributes. Head is white and a bit of lace. Color is a clear yelllow. Aroma is crisp, yet slightly malty and hoppy, & beery. Flavor is about the same. Average body and carbonation. Ditto finish. Ok beer. If it had a different name, I'm sure I'd have a better opinion. Just me. sorry. Rebel YELL!

I happen to believe that a lager should be clear. That's part of its charm. This beer is unfiltered which detracts from its appeal. Many of the properties common to most Czech lagers are repeated here. The color, the aroma, taste -- been there, done that. This is not a bad beer, but the flavor is off a note and there are otherwise no special attributes to be found. This is a run-of-the-mill lager that fails to distinguish itself from a sea of more worthy contenders.

Looks like a pilsner. Golden with a decent head, noticeable carbonation.

Overly skunky smell. Grainy with hints of hops, but overall not really impressive.

Taste is average. Clean and crisp, with hops in the background. Nothing special that sets this apart. Still, it's a decent beer that fits in the style. Perhaps it got spoiled coming overseas.

Got this one at a beer tasting. No real head on a standard golden looking beer. Nose is fruit, some light spice. Flavor is mediocre, grain and malt. Mouthfeel is medium, standard for the type. Overall, a mediocre beer, not one I'd seek out by any means.

Appearance- Pours a two finger white head with poor retention and lacing, beer is a tawny gold.

Smell- I can't decide if this smell is just a bitter pale malt or some kind adjunct odor. Not very pleasant.

Taste- Earthy and robust and slightly sweet. Malts seem to have a somewhat adjunct-like quality. This flavor combines with bitter hops and it's hard to tell when the odd malt flavor ends and the hop flavor begins. Tastes somewhat like raw malts.

Mouthfeel- Crisp carbonation, more robust than German Pils.

Drinkability- Earthiness detracts from drinkability.

Big, foamy head, bright gold color. Dry, hoppy aroma. Distinct malt presence, slightly sour aftertaste. For a lager, fine, but not my cup o' tea, and certainly not in league with the Czech Rep's best pilseners. Not bad, but no better.

Appearance: The beer pours with a hesitant head that is thick and leaves fairly thick lacing. The brew itself is a medium dark gold. Very pleasant first impression.

Smell: Floral maltiness is detected as strong component of aroma. Additionally, the hops aroma appears to be aromatic rather than high alpha hops. There is a Euro Lager feel to the body.

Taste: Well, this isn't a Euro Lager, and it's a little off for a Czech Pilsner....but not too much. There is a buttery grain essence for the duration of flavor curve. The grain flavor is welcomed, but the buttery element is not welcomed.

Mouthfeel: The mouth/palate impression is quite forgetable. Not good not bad. The flavor onset is a little subdued. A slight ramp-up with a moderate duration sustain. Very very average.

Drinkability: This is a moderate presence brew. HOWEVER...the low alcohol content certainly raises the drinkability. This helps ofset the rather palate pasting of aftertaste.

Prosit!

The Czech Rebel Beer has a basic golden yellow appearance. There isn't anything that really stands out to me and there's not that hurts this beer either in the appearance.

The smell was sort of bland to me, I didn't get an awakening aroma that stood out and caught my nose.

The taste is a little above average. It sort of has a smooth taste, I can't really figure this one out.

The mouthfeel is average with a crisp bite to it. Nothing really special here.

The drinkability is about average. I could sit down with a few of these but nothing really stood out for me.

Overall I think this is an alright beer but nothing I would highly recommend.

99 cents for 1 pint 9 ounces? This is a steal compared to any American macro. Refreshing, quirst-quenching, with a light hop, but decent malt presence. Almost as faavorful as Czechvar. I like this better than Pilsner Urquell.

Pours a clear pale amber color with a foamy white head that settles into a thin lace. Nose is stale grains along with some mineral notes. Taste begins with a light caramel maltiness followed by some grassy and herbal hops towards the end leading to a rather crisp finish. A pretty average pilsner that’s certainly enjoyable on a hot summer day, though better choices are not hard to find.

The after its release from the 12-ounce green bottle sets in the glass a luminous gold with a mountainous bright white head that is frothy in texture and the lace a fine covering upon the glass. Nose is sweet malt, fresh and clean to the senses, start quite sweet, fair malt profile and the top thin. Finish is moderate in its acidity, the hops apropos to the style, drinkable but not anything special.
