A: Golden clear with average head retention and lacing.

S: Grassy notes right off the bat. Not hoppy...as it should be.

T: Well OK. It should be hoppier. It is smooth and has a grassiness many good pilseners and lagers do. More than a hint though. Dominant grassiness which is a tad off. Medium bitterness up front but no hop flavor as should be in a pils. Malt flavors are more dominant.

M: Medium mouthfeel.

O: A bit disappointing. Missing is the hopiness of a true Czech pils. Your average German Pils has more. Fairly smooth but a bit more grassiness that there should be.

Czech Rebel pours a dark golden color with a thin cap of foam above. The aroma is green apple and pale biscuit-like malt. Grainy pale malt greets the taste buds. A slight sweetness through the center as bitterness moves in. Finishes with a snap. This is a clean brew. Not bad, really.

Yellow, lots of carbonation, white head, dissipates almost completely in a quick like fashion. Slightly lemonish aroma, no hops.

Taste, high carbonation, lager yeast, little hop mouthfeel. Not bad, but pretty standard, a little skunky at times. Better than the pilsners in the states, but nothing to brag about here.

Dry finish. A decent summer offering.

A: Pours a clear straw color with almost a finger of white head.

S: Slight floral hop aroma and light malt.

T: Initial light malt sweetness followed by smooth spicy hop bitterness.

M: Light body that is clean and crisp with great carbonation.

O: Nice flavor for the style. Would drink another.

Pour: Clear, orange golden color. Two fingers of white head with average retention and spots of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Faint aroma. What's there is ridiculously sweet though, almost sugary.

Taste: Sweet pale malt front end with honey tones. Fruity and slightly yeasty middle, followed by a moderate hop bitterness, followed by that all too familiar unpleasant chemical aftertaste. Ugh!

Mouthfeel: Light, watery body. High carbonation and very crisp.

Drinkability: It's alright. It's kind of refreshing, but the taste just isn't doing much for me. Chemical aftertaste intensifies as you drink it.

Final Notes: This beer is OK. Not great, not bad, but just okay. I won't be looking to buy it again.

Loved the name if the beer. It made me wanna try it which is good for the brewery. But as I sat down to enjoy this brew I realized that I really can't get into pilasters too much. So I sat there trying to toss back a rather large bottle of beer for myself. Clear yellow and grassy and a fluffy head on this one.

Rebel pours a pale amber color with a white head from a brown twelve ounce bottle. At first I get a bit of bready malt in the aroma then some hop spicyness becomes apparent. Bready malt is most noticeable at first in the flavor, there is also a hint of caramel. There is a nice noble hop spice that is a bit muted while the beer is still cold. A nice sessionable pils.

Deeply golden colored beer with a decent white colored head.

Smell is very full of toasted grain with a good shot of noble hops too. Lots of grassy aroma with some caramel. Slightly spicy smelling with the hops favoring grass and saffron scents.

Taste starts out a little sweet with a hint of hops bite. Hop bite is about average nothing spectacular though. Mostly malty with a nice hop bite.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Easy to drink, could have more flavor though.

Picked up a bottle at Euromart for a $2.25. The aroma is a bit simple with bready spice. The body seems just a little watery, but there's a great mixture of sweet bready barley with herbal, grassy lemon hop character. Despite being a little lighter than other Czech pilsners it's also very drinkable and still very flavorful.

12 oz single.Clear golden coloured lager, nice quater inch white head. Subdued aroma, slightly grassy hop and some biscuit. A very balanced and weakish taste for a Bohemian Pils..there are certainlly hops..grassyand floral tastes and some malts..biscuit but its weak for some reason. The palate is boring but OK really..smooth. Not impressed at all one of the poorer pils from the Czech republic.

APPEARANCE: Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Pilsner glass. Pale golden. Clear with lots of tight carbonation. Head is a frothy white 3/4" crown, a bit sticky, with chunky bubbles, which disipates quickly.

AROMA: Light sweetness and mild dry grain aromas. Also picked up light hint of grape.

TASTE: Light bodied. Light malt. Dextrin sweetness. Floral hop flavors, grain dryness and a hint of lemon and herbs with light hint of grape.

MOUTHFEEL: Very light in the mouth with a watery feel. Carbonation was lively. There was a light sweet flavor both initially and at the finish. Finish was of medium length and tongue hit was in the front and middle of the mouth. Fair body lacing that persisted for an average amount of time. Light metalic flavor at the finish.

DRINKABILITY: Nice, light, authentic Bohemian Pilsner. A decent value. I would try it again but won't go out of my way to find it.

A: The beer is crystal clear golden yellow in color and has a low amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that quickly faded away and left some lacing in the center.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of bready malts in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the overall taste is rather malty with some notes of sweetness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer isn't difficult to drink but the flavor isn't very interesting so I'm not sure if I will try it again.

Poured out of a 12 oz. bottle into my trusty Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a nice light golden color with about a one inch head. Just a bit of lacing.

S - Has a fruity smell with a nice apple tinge to it. Get some light grapes smell as well. Light smell altogether.

T - Very much like the smell it has a sweet taste. You definitely get the fruit.

M - Light bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Refreshing for sure.

D - Yes. This is a nice light beer. Would take a 6 pack out on a boating trip for sure.

Finger and a half of cream white foam, the bubbles explode at such a fast rate you think Willy Wonka is behind it all, gone done to the surface like that, no lacing left behind. Light orange liquid, not pale, transparent with very mild visual distortion, a few scattered bubbles here and there. The nose has a nice liveliness to it, lots of all kinds of bread, like one big marble loaf in your nostrils, sweet golden honey accents, general maltiness then more salt 'n' pepper than herbaceousness, tame mixed white fruits, it seems like it aims to mix things together like a stew than let the elements stand apart. Medium-bodied, strong through the attack before relaxing and just letting it flow, unfold as it wants. Honey, molasses and caramel very obvious while displaying restraint when needed. The breadiness is more doughy than yeasty and had the crust cut off. A few corn notes. The carbonation somewhat lowgrade, not a deciding factor. More floral than fruity or citrusy. Hops bring tingle to the finish so it does end on an up note.

12oz bottle (no date code, drank 9-22-2010) into Dartington ultimate lager glass. 1 inch white head reduces semi-quickly to a cap with no lacing left. Clear pale gold color, a bit darker than the usual garbagey pale yellow of cheap lagers.

Aroma initially a bit of a vegetal spicyness then as the head disappeared, a sweet malty aroma came up. Taste: as the carbonation pricks the tongue like soda, iimmediately a very sweet grape and orange juice/soda (without the sour acidity) comes in and overwhelms. Aftertaste is a bit of desultory citrus rind bitterness on top of a bit of biscuit malt.

Almost like a slightly under-carbonated soda pop with tinge of bitterness. Too sweet but so drinkable like soda because it kinda tastes like soda...

Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a nice, frothy head that is impressive in its stickage and leaves a few clumps of foam behind

Smell: Bready malts, with the classic Euro lager twang to the aroma that borders on the skunk, even though the bottle is brown

Taste: Bread, up front, with a sweetening of the malts at the same time as the bitter hops take command; I just don't care for the hop profile of many Euro lagers (I know this is a Czech Pils) but the sweetness that develops underneath builds considerably after the swallow

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with crisp carbonation

Drinkability: Not sure I care for the sweetness and wonder what is causing it but I certainly don't find the hop profile on this beer appealing, either

Hot day, cold beer. On to the beer:

The snow white inch thick collar on top makes a great contrast with the golden straw color of the beer. Retention is fine, lacing is good. The nose is similar to many lagers of Central Europe; straw/hay, some honey sweetness.

The flavor is very light in intensity. Light cracker flavor, very little maltiness doing here. Proccessed bitterness towards the end of the sip, and it hangs around a while. Hints of honey are echoed. Like the flavor, the mouthfeel is very light, this being on the watery side. Because of it's lightness, it's easy going down, yet that lingering bitterness lowers its drinkability potential.

I was excited to try this Czech Pilsner, but that's where it ends. It's okay, though not worth a second purchase at $2.99 for a 12 ounce bottle.

12 oz brown bottle.

It pours a deep, rich, clear gold, a rather stunning color. The head is foamy and white and recedes fairly slowly leaving some nice lacing.

The smell is Czech pils through and through, perhaps a bit on the sweet side, but the sweetness in the nose is a common link between Czech pilseners, something American imitators often lack. there is a subtle herbal noble hop hint over the top.

The flavor is smooth and balanced. The malt is rich and honey-like while there is a sharp bitterness that cuts the sweetness and rolls across the sides of the tongue. It is hop/malt harmony.

The Czech Rebel follows the tradition of the Czech Pilsener to a T.

500ml bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.

pours a very light golden color with a small white head with a bit of lacing. Nose is pilsner malt and a bit of light hoppiness.

Taste is kinda weird, it's got a kind of mustiness to it. There is some maltiness to it but honestly it's not that great. Mouthfeel is light and smooth with a small hop bite. But theres just some weird off taste that I can't explain that's turning me off.

Poured from 16.9oz bottle into 23oz NY Mets pilsner glass.

Appearance: Golden color with a medium-sized white head that dissipates somewhat quickly, leaving behind spotty lace.

Smell: Sweet grains dominate, with some grain husk hints and mild citrus. Corn notes.

Taste: Begins with sweet grains and citrus hints, finishing grainy with mild grassy hops and some sweet apple flavor. The aftertaste is a lot like corn...

Mouthfeel: Lighter, crisp body with sharp carbonation and a clean, refreshing finish.

Drinkability: Having enjoyed many Czech pilsners while living in Slovakia for three months, I consider myself somewhat an expert on the style. This one is a bit lacking compared to many, but isn't necessarily bad. Fairly average overall- I can't say it's not worth it, but there are others of the style I would try before this one. A real Czech pils shouldn't have the corn flavors, either, but luckily this one doesn't have overwhelming corn notes, preventing it from being terrible.

Pours a light orangish amber, slight nose typical of a Czech pilsner, sweet hops and malty scent. The taste is very crisp and clean, lacks the depth of character in both hops and malts that some other Czech pilsners have, still, this is a solid example of the style and the kind of beer where you could have one, or two, or three, just about anywhere.

S: Lots of corn, some grassiness and floral notes, corn nuts

L: Golden yellow, decent creamy head with good lacing.

T: Sweet toasted corn maltness with some grassy hops. Mild bitterness, cornuts!!!! Finishes earthy dry with some metallic taste.

M: Slightly crisp mouthfeel.

An interesting pils, the corn flavor and aroma blew me away, maybe i havn't had a lot of Czech pilsners. Don't think there is any corn in there, maybe the yeast? Who knows, all in all, not too bad, but probably wouldn't try again.

Poured into pilsner glass...

A: pours a bright golden color with a 1 finger head of creamy foam. leaves bubbly lacing in arches here and there

S: slightly sweet and grainy, with a barely detectable aroma of spicy hops, overall very faint

T: well rounded grainy and malty sweetness, with a hop flavor of lemon and spiciness, much stronger than the nose would lead you to expect. finishes with an earthy grain and mineral-like character with lingering hop spiciness.

M a decent medium body with a crisp character that follows through to the off dry finish

Overall, a decent czech pils but i've had better. I would like it better if there were more malt character, but more than anything more hop character would be nice. Comes to close to the adjunct category for me to honestly say it was worth eleven dollars.
