Poured out of a 500ml bottle into a pokal glass. Purchased for $1.79, with the hopes of being refreshing in the warming weather.

Pours a slightly thick yet consistently watery yellow amber color, complete with a semi-frothy head about 3 fingers high that dissipates but sticks around for a while. Carbonation is quite bubbly, with little jet streams of bubbles gliding upwards. No lacing or signs of stickiness. Well built, but pretty generic overall. Looks like what I'd expect a Czech pilsner to be, but probably I always expect more with these.

The aroma is pretty good, ranging into the territory of honey, white grapes, and bright, sweetened graininess. Smells with the sweetened, caramelized consistency of syrup. There's some zestiness at the back, as well as a bitter consistency from the malts. Sort of cracked, almost containing the same aroma as freshly bagged grains. Sort of sweet at the front, which is distracting. Definitely well put together, although lacks complexity.

At the front of the tongue I get an instant cracked grainy sensation combined with some honey, grassy Saaz hops, and a bit of butterscotch at the finish. Slightly fruity (like pear chunks), but it quickly drops off and is replaced with the grains, light barley cereal, and a little bit of herbal notes. The bitterness subsides but is replaced with a rather musty, slightly faded flavor profile, which is further accentuated with the over-carbonated, almost seltzer-y feel of the beer. Kind of watery, with tannic consistency of old teas. Refreshing, but not too bright or flavorful as I like beers of this style.

Most likely something that would best paired with food, this lacks the grassy brightness and crisp strength I enjoy these for. Not expensive, but definitely a budget option when better offerings such as Budvar and Staropraman are only a buck or two more. Didn't like this so much. Quaffable, but the flavor is too faded and mediocre.

500 ml bottle purchased from the Utah system. About $2 paid. Poured into my perfect pint glass straight from the fridge.

Appearance: This is a very clear beer, straw colored, with a foamy white three fingered head that settles slowly and leaves irregular splotchy lacing. Lots of effervescent bubbles.

Smell: Sweet apple juice, slight mineral twang along with bready malts and some earthy hops.

Taste: Clean, as opposed to crisp, lager taste. Basic malts, cracker-like and a little sweet, go along with a light floral (apple) hops note. Light basic mineral bitter to back against the malt. This style should not be in your face, and this one has a nice subdued flavor.

Mouthfeel: Middling body with heightened carbonation, but not so much that the feeling is prickly. Right where it should be.

Overall: I think this is a pretty good example of this style. Not a bad $2 to spend. I still think I prefer Bohemian Brewery's Czech Pilsener, brewed here in SLC.

Pours a dark golden color. A very slightly hazy hue with a good amount of carbonation that creates a thin white head with nice lacing.
Smell is nice. For an import, there is a very fresh wheat smell at the base of this beer. A very strong biscuit smell also.
Taste is good for an import pilsener. A fresh biscuit wheat taste. Good hop taste at the end also.
Mouthfeel is thin but nicely crisp and refreshing.
Drinkability is good on this beer. It has a solid, clean taste and is very refreshing. Good beer.

A: Pours a darker straw yellow color with great carbonation leaving a nice white cap

Smell: Floral hops, some hints at bread, very clean, crisp and refreshing on the nose. Smelled good.

T: Nice presence of floral hops with a blend of bread and grains, has a nice little sweetness to it on the end

M: Body was clean, crisp, refrshing and light bodies. I found myself really liking this beer as did my wife. The sweetnesss and hops just shine on this and provides a light bitterness.

O: Enjoyable and well worth the $2!

500ml bottle.

It pours a medium yellowish god with a fizzy white head that quickly dissipates with no lacing.

The smell is both doughy and floral. It isn't too interesting, but it isn't bad.

The flavor is a little better. It has a surprising bitterness that cuts deep. It isn't a huge bitterness but it is poignant and noticeable, especially with the mellow malt bill.

It is a rustic one, maybe that equates also to cheap since this bomber didn't cost much at all, but it is a decent Pilsener.

Pours a light gold, big bubbly head that leaves some lacing. Smell is honey, apple . . . Saaz hops. Taste reflects the smell, this is the same general flavor profile of most Czech pilsners. Carbonation somewhat lacking.

I'm somewhat surprised by the large number of negative ratings on this beer, it's not outstanding but is a perfectly good Czech pilsner, light years beyond most North American pilsners. I can only suspect that for whatever reason a lot of this stuff is getting shipped to consumers on the local train, so to speak. My sample was reasonably fresh relative to the long trip.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a very clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very macro-like with a lot of corn and wheat. The flavor is more of the same, very corny with some light hop flavors. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Appearance- pale yellow color, thin head

Smell- lagery malt

Taste- pale malt, lager flavor

Mouthfeel- light bodied

Drinkability- ok, probably wouldn't drink it again, not too good, It's better than Bud though lol

Looks like your typical lager: well-filtered golden yellow, small head and lots of bubbles moving quickly to the top.

Bright aroma offers honey and straw up front, lighter notes of apple and pear, and clean grassy hops.

Flavor is watery butterscotch, unidentifiable herbs, honey, watery orange, apple, pear, light hops, yellow cake batter and a faint skunkiness to the finish. Mouthfeel is slick and smooth while achieving crispness; its light to medium (at best) body is probably as it should be for the style. A bit dry which makes for a quick flash of flavor before dying out.

An easy-drinking pils and very clean, although for all the flavor impressions I got, it seems a bit timid and not as assertive as better versions of the style. Worth a try, and, like all Czech Pilsners, probably not even close to matching a glass poured from the tap in its homeland.

This is the Lev Export Lager Beer with the green-&-white label.

This is a pretty good Czech pilsner, with defintie good Czech character, but it's not great or up to the level of Lev Lion "Double Bock."

Deep gold, it has a medium-big, off-white head slowly shrinking to a wispy top and foamy ring, leaving some decent lace.

The aroma is a nice Czech smell but on the milder, simpler side. It has lightly toasted bread, herbs, honey, a hint of apple, and a hint of mineral, like a more herbal/hoppy take on a good basic American lager.

The taste is pleasant, basic good Czech lager, wioth toasted bread, strongish herbs, sweet honey, and a lightly bitter herbal finish. However, it's a bit thin and light and the herbal character does not hold up extremely well. It's not great, but it's quite good and easy to drink.

Interesting. Yellow-gold with a lacy head. Clean, saazy Czech pilsner nose. Not bitter like I expected it to be, more of a sweet malty taste. Very sweet finish. This is more like a lager than anything else. This used to be a really good Czech beer several years ago.

Copper coloured with strong carbonation. Very nice grassy Saaz hop aroma, with a bit of honeyed malt in the background. More herbascious notes in the mouth, and the initial sweetness of the malt fades away into a watery/oily abyss, leaving no grainy notes behind. A bit of an odd berry taste on the finish, but not enough to detract from the hops. Medium bitterness. An inoffensive, but overly watery example of the bohemian style. Definitely smells better than it tastes.

Visual: Nice dark golden color, quite clear, with a creamy head that has good persistence and clings to the side of the glass. Good carbonation.
Aroma: Somewhat typical pils/light lager aroma with sulfur (not unpleasant) dominating, some sweet malt, and perhaps a trace of hops. Very faint metal at first, but it quickly dissipates.
Flavor: Carbonation and slight bitterness at first, turning into maltiness, then a short prickly finish, and finally some dry bitterness in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Good body with nice supporting carbonation.
Overall: A bit unique compared to the other pils/light lagers I have tried. Good balance, although I might like a bit more bitterness in the beginning, but overall all components blend quite well together to produce a nice experience.

An OK lager, with light malt, and some bitterness, light mouthfeel. appropriate carbonation, crisp and clean. Not much in aroma. Light yellow, grassy, mineral water aftertaste. rather boring. Could use more something. Thanks for sharing your Czech finds, Radek.

Poured from a 1 pint 9 oz. bottle. It has a medium head with a light golden straw color. The head didn't last long but left a thin layer on top. Not much smell too it but it smelled almost like leather to me.

Very smooth and creamy in your mouth with little fanfare. A basic, solid beer with some mellow hops beneath the creamy flavor, giving it a balance of slightly bitter with it. Some citrusy spice in the aftertaste.

A good beer, well done and enjoyable and I'd enjoy it again, for sure.

Clear slightly orange gold color with a modest, quick disappearing white head.

The aroma is faint biscuity malt and slightly spicy herbal hops.

The taste is typical Czech pilsner with a somewhat biscuity beginning, followed quickly by the spicy hops for a somewhat dry finish and lingering crisp hops aftertaste. Nothing outstanding but nothing offensive either.

Clean and easy to drink, it should be an excellent ball game or grass mowing beer.
