A - Pours a hazy straw with a bit of a soapy head.

S - Nose is grapefruit and some other mixed fruitiness.

T - Big jiucy grapefruitiness up front, and a bready, biscuity middle. Maybe a hint of lemon and herbs. Finish is clean and shortlived.

M - Light and crisp, not too sweet and a smooth, mild carbonation.

D - Very, very drinkable. Not at all a big beer, but very clean, well balanced and tasty. Perfect session brew.

Pours into an imperial nonic a dull lemon yellow with a very this wispy white head that is gone in a flash.Mild citrus fruits and iron mainly in the nose,a faint breadiness as well, just light in all aspects. The mouth feel is pretty flat and light, wow this beer is not doing much for me at this point.Flavors have citric tones but it's mild and short lasting,a bit of green apple-like tartness and crystal malt flavors in the finish. How is this rated this high?

A 500ml bottle with a BB of March 2012. Picked up from my local beer specialist. The label mentions that this ale is brewed solely with citra hops (in case the name didn't give it away).

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A pale straw colour with medium carbonation; initially clear but hazy by the end of the pour due to the yeast in the bottle. Yields a huge head of white foam with a creamy texture and good retention; this eventually subsides to a thin surface layer. The aroma is amazing - a huge, spicy hit of citrus with grapefruit, lemon, lime and orange all discernible. Subtle malt and yeast lie hidden beneath the aromatic hops.

Tastes of overwhelming aromatic hops with a pleasant bitter finish. Notes of grass and citrus, especially grapefruit. A dry, earthy yeast character in the background, and overtones of orange peel. Crisp bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is light, spritzy and astringent, leaving the palate dry. Aftertaste of aromatic citrus hops....

Fantastic - if only I could drink this every day! An incredible aromatic hop character - stacks of delicious flavour. The aroma and bitterness are well balanced, with malt and yeast taking a definite back seat. Excellent - a must have.

Poured this one from the bottle into a pint glass, I was instantly hit with the strong aromas of the Citra hops-- lots of grapefruit and other citrus aroma. Other than that, though, this beer is just average I would say. If you're wondering what the Citra hop tastes/smells like on its own, this beer could be a great educational tool. As for its actualy use though, there are many other ales that utilize the Citra in unison with other hops that work on much deeper and more pleasing levels.

Appearance: hazy, light yellow color, virtually non existent head
Aroma: very pungent aroma, grapefruit overpowering,
Taste: tangy, fruity, grapefruit from the citra hops,
Mouthfeel: light body, tart finish like a grapefruit, medium finish,
Overal: pungent Citra taste, slightly astringent because of the palate drying qualities of the grapefruit. I probably wouldnt buy this again, but it was good to taste the Citra hop on its own.

Saw this while shopping around the local Waitrose in Cambridge.

A - slightly hazy, straw golden color. pure white head that quickly fades. solid lacing throughout

S - juicy hops, citrus, grapefruit

T - instant smack of big, hoppy citrus fruit. lemons, grapefruit. a lightly toasted malt balances the hops and smoothes out the beer, not leaving any harsh bitterness.

M - carbonation is spot on for style, not overly malty or astringent from hops

I was very surprised when I found a UK brewery using solely Citra hops. Oakham Ales is one of my favorite UK brewers, and this one does not disappoint. This beer could give top notch US Pale Ales a run for their money. Awesome beer!

Pours gold with a fading head.
Nose shows floral, grassy and spicy hops with biscuity malt underneath.
Similar flavours. More biscuity malt and spicy, grassy hops. Refreshing.
Carbonation could be a bit higher.
Very English despite the hop variety.

Bottle: Poured a super light yellow color ale with a nice pure white foamy head with good retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma of Citra hops with green hoppy notes with some lemongrass notes and some weird grainy notes which don’t really fit that well. Taste is dominated by hoppy notes with some lemongrass and grapefruit and some weird grainy malt notes that more or less fits in the whole picture. Body is light with good carbonation. Well done even though I really don’t dig the malt profile.

Pale gold color with a thin head that dissipates quickly leaving a little foam at the top. Smell is lemon and a touch of grass. Taste is lemony and very slightly bitter. Dry finish with a light lingering bitterness. Feel is light with light carbonation. Overall this is pretty good, but I feel like it could stand to be a bit heavier and could use a bit more supporting maltiness.

Wonderful citric with floral notes aroma, multi stage taste that laves a very pleasant aftertaste. It may seem bitter at first, but by the time you finish the bottle it turns into something more light and fruity. Very refreshing and the low ABV makes it ideal for summer days, would buy again!

500ml bottle: BBD 12 Jun 2013. Poured into a Uk pint sleeve after working all evening at a beer festival and not drinking on 2 May 2013.

Misty golden body with a thin white head.

Citra by name, citrus by nature: grapefruit, lemon without the cheek sucking sourness. I don't normally like this style of beer but this quenched my thirst nicely and it fitted the bill for what I needed at the time. Golden, citrusy flavoured beers have had some crap scores from me over the years, but this one hit the spot.

Refreshing and pleasant.

Drank from my duvel tulip

A - Pours a light cloudy straw colour with a one fingered head that retains well.

S - Heaps of grapefruit and hop

T - Plenty of citrus grapefruit, falls a little flat after the initial hop flavours.

M - Light to medium body with minimal carbonantion, needs more.

O - Just imagine yourself sitting outside an english country pub on a summers night. This beer fits the bill perfectly. Lacks in some areas, but still has plenty on offer.
