Pitch black in color with a nice creamy moka head. Smells good, nice roasted malt odor with some chocolate and moka. You get some hop spiciness in the nose too. The roasted malts and moka/chocolate are still there in the mouth, really pleasant. Kinda boozy too and warming with also a nice bitter after taste that stay on the tongue. Way more complex than what I expected, a solid and strong beer.

A: Almost black in colour. Large mocha head that hangs around for a long time. There is still a good half centimetre as I am finishing up. Lacing all the way down the sides. A truly beautiful beer.

S: Coffee and chocolate dominate. There are some other roasty notes and a faint smell of piney hops. This aroma leans pretty heavily to the dark side for a black IPA in my opinion.

T: More coffee and chocolate, and a definite bitterness. Surprisingly smooth finish with only a light bitter aftertaste. The 7.7% alcohol is hidden pretty darn well.

M: I'm not so good at judging mouthfeel, but it seems pretty medium-bodied to me.

O: I would drink this again if I could get it! Calling it a black IPA might be slightly misleading - I think the hop flavour and aroma is a little bit low for that title. However, there is no date on the bottle so part of that might be freshness.

Draft: Poured a dark black color ale with a generous foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of piney and citrusy hops with a deep roasted malt profile. Taste is also a great mix between some citrusy and piney hoppy notes with some deep roasted malt notes. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Nice hops profile and great porter base beer.

Bottle from Sherbrooke.
Deep black color with a huge tightly bubbled tan head. Big roast and light chocolate with a fair bit of pine earth and citrus. Very tasty beer but feels more like a hoppy porter than a black IPA to me.
I had to edit this review because as this warmed it really opened up with some big wood tannin and hints of vanilla. The wood actually started to get a bit oppressive in the aftertaste for me.

Appearance: It has a nice very dark brown color to it. It has a nice thick tan head that dies down slowly and leaves some nice lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of sweet roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, vanilla and some pine resins,

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a some roasted malts, chocolate, bitter coffee and a nice piney bitterness.

Mouthfeel: It has a med/high carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.
