Appearance: Pinkish-red in color. Pours a nice two finger head although it quickly recedes leaving behind minimal lacing.

Smell: Great aroma of raspberries although it is balanced with some grain and yeast character. Very inviting.

Taste: Very complex flavor. Malt hits first quickly followed by a great raspberry taste. Very nice flavor from the yeast throughout. Rather hoppy as well yet without the bitterness. Really good taste.

Mouthfeel: Nice carbonation, not too carbonated. Body is light but not in a bad way.

Overall: Very enjoyable framboise with a very good flavor and smell. I will definitely pick up another bottle if I see it.

Pours from a corked bottle a deep red with a big fluffy pink head that settles leaving a nice amount of lace behind, the aromas has a real iron quality to it with some toasted grain and of course the raspberry essence all seem to come together very well. Now this is a no fufu framboise here immensly flavorful obviously the raspberry puree flavors are there but there is more to it there is real dry biscuity backbone to this with a iron like dryness to keep the raspberry puree flavors from becoming overly sweet.Well balanced and refreshing I love this beer I wish I had more, hell yeah.

This is 6.2% alc says right on the label.

A clearish burgundy color, head betrays the fruit in its pinkness and is fine-bubbled. Just widely spaced dots for lace. Lightly sweet berry aroma, a hint of tartness and a speck of nutmeg. Not especially bright or astringent, and not overly raspberry either, almost plays out early like an iced tea with flavoring. As it rounds to a close, there's a light sense of drying, like grapefruit seeds. A softish interpretation, I like that it gets brighter near the close. For me, I like a little more tanginess, and perhaps some more down-home mustiness, but this is highly drinkable and not cartoonishly sweet.

I picked up a bottle of this at Knightly Spirits in Orlando a few months back and shared it with my family over the Labor Day weekend. The beer poured a deep red color with a thick pink head that didn't last very long and gave way to a nice ring around the glass. The aroma was of fresh raspberries and a bit tart along with a touch of hop in the nose. The nose is different than a Lindeman's say as the raspberry taste is not syrupy. The taste is equally pleasing as the raspberry taste is refreshing and strong but there is also a nice carbonation body and a touch of hop bitterness that makes this beer easy to drink and pleasing to my lambic taste buds.

Poured from a 750mL bottle into my Lindemans flute glass. BBD of 08/01/2010.

Upsdell red body with persian red highlights. Decent clarity with a languid but steady ascent of tiny bubbles. A fizzy cosmic latte head diminishes to a thin layer of creamy foam with good retention and fragile acrobatic arcs of lacing.

Light malt aromatics at about the same level as the raspberry, which smells a bit more like jam than fresh fruit. Hints of black cherry as well...

Malt becomes richer on the palate, and lightly toasted. The impression is much like raspberry preserves on wheat toast, washed down by a hint of champagne. Not too sweet, but lacking any real tartness either. Short, dry finish which makes this eminently drinkable.

Light bodied and perhaps a little under-carbonated.

Don't open this expecting a lambic - the base ale seems more like a mild blonde Bière de Garde - which shouldn't be surprising as La Choulette is better known for that style. The rustic malt notes though are a welcome change from the borderline-cloying sweetness of many other examples of framboise.

A. Bright reddish brown with oily head and nice retention.

S. Fresh under-ripened rasberry aroma. Light honey, light citrus fruits.

T. Raspberry taste with mellow not-too-sweet character. Nothing tart about it.

M. Light in the mouth and high carbonation.

D. A little too artifical tasting for me. Not my bag.

33cl bottle with a BBD of April 2010. Pours a hazy garnet red with a fluffy pinkish-white head. Smells strongly of sweet, authentic raspberry. The taste is again heavy on the raspberry, starting sweet and moving towards tartness. There is an underlying earthiness with some wood that hints at stems or something being present. Definitely tastes like pressed fruit vs syrup. Hints of grainy malt is barely noticeable as it warms. Dry finish. Very nice, full body with lower carbonation that works well to make it feel almost creamy. A really refreshing take on a fruit beer in an industry where artificial flavors are the norm.

Very fizzy at first, looks like seltzer bubbles. Dingy tea-like brown with a drip of vermilion in there. Foamy cauldron subsides into a bare skim, but upward streams of bubbles are constant. Hazy, dirty with suspended sediment.

Smells malty with a touch of raspberry soda or gummy candy sweetness.

Tastes malty like a Biere de Garde, with some fruity candy notes in the background. Very light tartness, nowhere near Lambic levels. Toward the end of the glass it takes on more unsweetened juice character. Started out fizzy, but flattened out. Glad I got the 33cL bottle and not the 750.

Picked this up from the World Market in Charlottesville, noticing that it was marked down for sale. I kind of presume that it has to do with the fact that the best before date stamped on it is Dec. 26, 2009, and it wasn't the fastest mover. Who knows, though... I snapped one up!

A: Plum-coloured pour, topped with a short-lived pinkish head. It leaves just the tiniest collar of lace, and there's really nothing to stick to the glass walls.

S + T: Raspberry dominates both the nose and the palate, by far. There's a soft malt on the nose that I don't detect as much on the palate. As it warms a bit, a slightly peppery note comes out on the nose.

M + D: Rather dry, but not incredibly so. It is quite refreshing and smooth, though, and that counts for a lot. Very nice natural flavours, and a clean finish make this very enjoyable brew. I might just need to pick up some more of those clearance items!

A: Pours a semi transparent pinkish brown color. The head is small, retains decently, and looks pretty fizzly.

S: Go to the store, buy raspberry jelly and you will have this...Raspberry notes seem tart and sweet. The malts are actually noticeable giving off some caramel. Cherry is on the nose as well

T: Flavor is a little bland and watery. Raspberry tartness and a little sweetness. Tangy and slightly sour at times, but a sweetness balances well. Malts give off a slight buttery caramel flavor

MF/D: A little thin in body, carbonation is low. The finish is a bittersweet raspberry

A: The beer is quite hazy red in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high beige head that gradually died down, leaving a thin head covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of raspberries are present in the nose—without having any sweetness or tartness.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has a type of raspberry flavor similar to hard German raspberry candies (but without nearly all of the sweetness).
M: It feels very light-bodied (but not watery) on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is especially easy to drink and seems rather unique as a fruit-flavored bière de garde. I could see this as a good choice for someone that wants to try a fruity beer but doesn't want something very sweet.

My girlfriend got this thinking it was a raspberry lambic, and not just a fruit beer. Lambic's are pretty much the only style she can tolerate and they have to be sweet and sour for her to like them. Well, her mistake turned into a free beer for me.

11.2oz bottle, capped not corked with a best by date of 4/30/2010.

Pours an reddish brown color with a great sized head, it fades fast and leaves no lacing though.

Smell has a light fruit aroma, not overpowering but nice and subtle.

Taste is good, not overly sweet but enough fruitiness to please (at least for me, not my gf), good carbonation really brings out the flavors, doesn't seem artificial like some turn out to be.

I would say this is very similar to Sam Adam's Cranberry "Lambic", if you enjoyed that beer, then you'll probably enjoy this one as well.

Dark reddish brown in color. Very nice head, about an inch and a half, on the pour. Smell is raspberries, some vinous qualities, and some acidic notes as well.
It has a good mouthfeel. But there is a slight metallic flavor in the taste. Some very weak raspberry and hints of cherries. If it was bigger and more tart it would be better. This comes across very watered down.

A- Dark red body with a foamy pink head. Size is pretty good and retention is decent. Nice legs stick to the glass as well as some fine lace coats.

S- A raspberry bomb comes off in fumes. Tons of raspberry and in the sweet way no sour touches.

T- A ton of sweet raspberries. It is hard to say a lot more, some light malt and Belgian yeast, maybe bread?

MF- High carbonation stings the palate in a light body with a very foamy feel.

This one is just a massive fruit bomb, really easy to drink and really refreshing. Tons of raspberries, not a bad way.

Freshness date of June '08:

Pours ruby red with a fluffy off-white, pinkish head that descends to a thin, lasting cover.

The smell is of fresh raspberries with a grainy undertone.

The taste is of light sour and sweet with raspberry syrup. Tartness is subtle under a sweet blanket. As it progresses, a cherry sweetness mixes in with the raspberry. Dry finish.

Light to medium bodied, pretty smooth, though cough drop does come to mind, especially in the aftertaste.

An interesting brew - Above average for a fruit beer. Still, I prefer the ambree. This is a good one to have a romantic candle light dinner with I suppose...Fruity but still a "beer"...

It was a hot day, and I thought a nice framboise would be nice and refreshing, so I picked this one up. Pours a dark cherry color with a small head that quickly goes south. Smells just like raspberry jam. Taste is very pleasant, with raspberries, of course, being the strongest flavor, but not as completely over-poweringly fruity as some other framboise ales I've tried have been. Don't think I'd every want more that one, MABYE two of these in one sitting, but it's great on a hot day poured over ice. Good choice for the style.
