Appearance: Pours a cloudy honey color with a well-formed head that retains and laces well
Smell: Toffee, tart apples, lemons, peppery spices, yeasty
Taste: Starts with a fruity element that is both beguilingly sweet and tart at the same time - lemony fruit with toffee sweetness and a building undertone of wood and tart green apples; after the swallow, the flavors build in both the sweet and tart dimensions and provide a mellow finish in which the toffee and yeasty elements build; oxidized, but in a good way
Mouthfeel: Medium body with lively carbonation
Drinkability: Although this bottle is best before 12/05, I think it has benefited from the age, as I wasn't prepared to like it as much as I have, given the other reviews; the oxidation has brought out some very interesting flavors

i have no explanation for the low ratings here, other than positing that most BA reviews come from the united states, and perhaps these bottles sat on warm shelves and got picked up light stuck and older, but having this fresh is an experience, a very unique biere de garde in that its fully blonde, honey colored at the darkest, lighter and less malty than other examples of the style i have encountered, and with a really cool yeast strain that gives it a rustic saison farmy sort of vibe, but clean, approachable, and drinkable overall. a really nice beer overall. tall white head on this with an irregular surface, peaking in different spots and clinging well. tons of bubbles racing up to join it. smells grassy and bright at the same time, herbaceous and even hoppy, without any of the nutty or sweeter malt that i am used to in the style, and with less of a vinous sharp french ale yeast profile, this is more belgian to me, subtle, soft esters of pear and tea is all, earthy but not heavy, effervescent in feel and very drinkable and refreshing. decidedly old worldy too, which i love, with a yeast forward, bottle conditioned, high refinement sort of energy, and as simple and sort of organic as it feels to me, there really is quite a lot of nuance here. this is so much better than its ratings if you catch it right, a biere de garde meets a clean rustic saison meets a delicate belgian blonde. really delicious, and of impressive quality!

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber with sparse particulates from an easy pour and a fine one finger white head the great retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of grainy malt with a hint of caramel, overripe peaches, apple and mild orange citrus. Flavor is mildly sweet grainy malt, light stone fruit, slight caramel or toffee, sweet orange. Finishes with both mildly sweet and dry elements. Lingering light fruit and grain in the finish. Medium bodied with a pleasant creaminess. Nicely balanced light biere de garde with a classic profile. Flavors are light, but with sufficient variety to encourage another sip. Although this is not really too flavor forward, it is the perfect light and interesting farmhouse style ale for one of the last hot days of the year in the northwest. I enjoyed this and would like to try other styles from this brewery, which is new to me.

Gold color, clear. Head white, fluffy, fine bubble, high, extremely durable, leaves fantastic decorations.
Aroma: dry, fruity, are white grapes, it is a malt and delicate "raspberry" sweetness and notes basement.
Taste: delicately spicy, pepper, seasoned with a clear maltiness are white fruit, slightly sour and sweet, a lot of wet basement filled with wet, sprouting grain.
Gentian delicate peppermint. High saturation, appropriate.

In Roger Protz' "300 More Beers To Try Before You Die", sequel to his CAMRA classic.
Had in my pre-BA career. If I find it again, I'll review it.

750 mL bottle, corked and caged, best by 07/11/14. Served in a Duvel tulip glass.
Appearance: Clear light amber, 1/2" white head upon pouring that died back to a thin skin of foam across the top. Some occasional strands and islands of lacing that slowly slid back down the glass. Plenty of carbonation coming up through the beer when held up to the light.
Smell: Floral, sweet orange candy-like aroma.
Taste: Sweet start with fruity esters. Fruity esters throughout and some hints of noble hops at the finish along with some orange candy-like flavors. A crisp, light, and refreshing beer.
Mouthfeel: Just right carbonation, only a little bit sticky, but not too long on the teeth. Carbonation helps take the stickiness away, but not in strong scouring way.
Overall / Drinkability: A very nice beer on a hot day. Went great with Indian food (Aloo Choley). Very drinkable. I could easily have helped the Mrs. polish off another bottle and now wish I had another bottle. Everything combined makes this a great beer, but I think it helps to have a bit of a sweet tooth with this beer.

A: The beer is a hazy dark shade of golden yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation along with some fine particles floating in suspension. It poured with a thin white head consisting of large bubbles covering the surface that gradually died down, leaving a thin film on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of yeast in the nose, which smell like the taste of the clumps of yeast you get at the bottom of a bottle.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of yeast and also has some notes of fruits—apples seem to stand out in particular—the fruit diminishes a bit as the beer warms up but never completely fade away. There are some faint hints of toasted malts and sweetness; no bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink, especially given its lighter body. It isn't quite interesting enough to drink on its own but I would definitely consider pairing this with food.

Very light clear gold. One finger of steady head, settles to a thin cap, decent lacing leaving some nice rings on the glass.
Pretty good nose with an earthy yeast smell, some wood and spice and just a little fruity apple suggestion in the back.
A light dry grainy background with some herbal hops. Belgian tasting spice and medicinal bitterness in the back. As it warms up there is some booze evident, as well as a little bit of honey sweetness. Disappointingly, there's not much of the complexity that the nose promised.
Mouthfeel is thin and weak too. A little bit slick, carbonation barely holding things together.
Looked good in the bottle, looked good in the glass, smelled promising.. Good up until I actually sipped it. What a let down. This one is a miss. Average at best.
