0.5 l. bottle, bought on a recent short trip to Germany.

Dark red brown, good carbonation. Nice beige fluffy head.
Smell and taste are fresh and roasted malts, bready, with a hint of dark fruits. Grassy hops.
Reviewing this again in august 2012, I find this brew has improved a lot (or mine is a better sample now). It's very crisp mouthfeel, and the taste delivers more of the spicyness it promises on the label.
This beer was a bit bland to me, but now it's well drinkable, especially on a thirsty day.
It has improved from my 3.1 rating earlier.

500 ml swingtop bottle, as "Bayreuther Aktien Landbier Fränkisch Dunkel", bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 5.3%. Dark brown colour, big to moderate off-white to beige head. Nice aroma of malts, fresh bread and fruity and floral hops. The flavour is quite fruity and refreshing for a dunkel, the malts are there, but the beer is not too sweet. Low bitterness, but scores high on drinkability.

A clear brown red beer, an off-white head, little lacing, and small curtains.

Smelling of butter, boiled vegetables and syrup.

Tasting of sweet brown bread, brown syrup, oranges.

Medium carbonation, small bubbles, soft texture with a medium body.

A plain but nice German dark lager.

500 ml into tulip. The beer is roughly a week past its prime (BBE date 2nd August 2010) but its quality characteristics should still be within the frame.

Pours murky dark brown body with reddish/garnet tints, topped by slowly subsiding creamy beige head that leaves stable cloth of lace. Nice and firm laces are weaved on the walls as I swirl the glass.
A doppelbock reminiscent aroma of Munich malt sweetness, chocolate, caramel and melanoidins expressed as bread crust.
Moderately but not overly sweet Munich malt flavor, chocolate and bready notes from melanoidins. Slightly acidic (not in an unpleasant way) from roasted malts yet without any burnt or bitter sensation. Occasionally slightly astringent. Lightly bitter finish from hops although the overall balance is on malty side, as it should be with the style. Soft to moderate carbonation and almost medium body of this obviously unfiltered Munich dunkel that has surpassed my expectations.

Yeasty caramel malty smell. A beautiful copper chesnut red-brown colour against the light, with a nice creamy off-white head. Head faded fairly quickly, with some lacing on the way. Mouthfeel is nice: velvety and smoothly sparkling, warm almost. Warming from the alcohol. Taste is rich, malty, lightly burnt caramel, fruity, yet somehow 'savoury'; some hops and bubblegum yeast in the finish. It's a very satisfying beer - like a meal in a drink in terms of taste and satisfaction.

B.B. "27.05.14 0:10" (I like the attention to detail)

Half litre flip top bottle, dark red, cloudy, almost looks like coke. Big head that goes quickly. It also smells a bit like coke. Has a dark chocolate like bitterness, smokey aftertaste. Fairly smooth mouthfull. With dark beers you don't tend to want too many, this is no execption, a bit heavy.

Nut brown that goes chestnut in light and steady rimming creamy sandstone head.
Red currant and fig, sour roast, and dark toast on a faint nose.
Banana bread, fresh apples, and kola nut then mild grassy hops. Buttered brown soda toast and bubble gum yeast as it warms.
Coffee hard candy finish (bitter roast, sweet cream) then tingly linger that lasts.
Light, crisp, slight chew. Creamier as it warms.

Labeled at 5.3%

Shows how meaningless the "landbier" tag is - this is just a Munich dunkel.

Lighter than expected, in both body and flavor profile. The right flavors, but only when it was room temp did it get doughy enough to be beyond decent, and by then I'd kinda lost interest.
