Santa Fe Saison 88 has a thick, soapy, white head, a clear, golden appearance, bubble streams, and a good amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is pungent, bready, sweet, and spicy, and the flavor is the same. The spice is hard to determine, however. Bitterness is low. The mouthfeel is medium, slick, and a bit soft, and Santa Fe Saison 88 finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and highly drinkable. Overall, I think it's one to try, if you ever see it.

12 oz can. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a monstrous bubbly white head that retains well an leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is earthy yeasty wheaty malts with some spice.
The flavor is sweet bready malts with some spice (coriander, clove) and a little banana. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, an OK beer. More wheat than saison.

Poured a cloudy golden yellow with three fingers of fluffy white head that slowly receded to a finger of fluffy white head that stuck around and left lacing down the glass. Quite nice looking and fairly true to style. Scents of tropical fruit and pineapple, slight grassy aromas, cloves, sweet spices and slight banana in the background and abundant yeasty bread with some peach and, slight pear and apricot aromas. Very nice, rather complex and fruity, with nice bready and yeasty aromas present as well. Taste begins with light lemon, citrus zest, and faint herbal hops, with a moderate bitterness level, some yeasty spiciness, notably clove present as well. Middle of the sip is similar to the beginning. Finishes dry, with yeasty spice, clove, musky herbal hops and grainy malt flavors. Aftertaste is grainy, musky and spicy, with strong notes of clove. Very well done, quite true to style and very refreshing. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation and a chalky, drying feel. Good, and again quite true to style. Overall this is a well done saison that is similar to other examples of the style and is quite refreshing and drinkable. Not the best of its class but certainly not bad and extremely drinkable.

Big white head on a well carbonated beer slowly falls above a pale washed out light straw golden colored opaque saison.
Nice spicy lemony aroma with maybe a bit of cloves and banana but nothing really sticks out more than anything else.
Light lemony citrus taste with just a bit of the spiciness of the aroma coming through with this drink.
A light dry aftertaste with a bit of the beers tastes remaining behind with this medium bodied Santa Fe drink.
Decent enough, I wish more of the aroma had been captured in the taste, but what do I know.

Pours straw/bronze color with 3 fingers of cream colored head. Good lacing & slightly above average head retention
S: Breadyness, phenols, clove & pear, plus perfumy hops, pineapple & apple blossom
T: Phenols, cloves, minty hops & pears up front. Pears, phenols, dryness & green apple skins as this warms, a touch of pineapple too. Finishes dry with pears, lemon peel, white pepper, plus a touch of grapefruit
MF: Medium bodied, light carbonation
Easy to drink, fairly true to style, but nothing extreme or outstanding here. Was hoping for a little more from their 25th anny offering, but not a bad Saison, as long as you're not looking for a ton of funk

Thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden/whiteish color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of fruits, some spices. Taste is a bit fruity, a good bit of spice, yeast, pretty tasty. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Appearance: Hazy golden color, with a large, slightly coarse white head, which retains well. The lacing is thick, and scattered; the carbonation is moderate.
Aroma: Massive spicy, leafy hop aroma, with prominent notes of white pepper, grassy notes are also present, and prominent phenol alcohols. Bready malt notes round out the complex aroma.
Taste: Opens with robust phenolic flavors, leafy and grassy hops, and bitter apple rind a little later in the taste. Later in the taste, grapefruit rind and white pepper rise, with earthy hops to usher in a lingering close to the taste.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, very, very full, more than pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: A very well-made example of the style, exudes quality; an exemplar of what craft brewing should be.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Saison 88 – Saison (5.5%) - Santa Fe Brewing Co. (New Mexico)
App: Slightly hazy, rich golden yellow color that's spot on for the style. Two finger rocky white head that settles slowly and retains well with a nice one finger head. Steady effervescence that maintains head. Slight lacing, but not remarkable.
Smell: Primarily grain in the high nose with a slight tropical fruit sweetness and soapy character. Not as pungent as some other saisons. Slightly yeasty with a little chalk.
Taste: Dry and somewhat earthy. Some notes of fruity esters of passion and dragon fruit. Lacking that slap of wallop yeastiness that I want in a Saison. Some slight herbaceous notes as the brew warms. Tiniest amount of alcohol in the background. Slightly sour with a lingering sour and bitter flavors after the swallow that is pleasant, but unremarkable.
Mouth: Medium thin body with somewhat light carbonation. Easily drinkable saison with nothing too special to recommend.
Home tasting, 12oz can into Tulip Glass. 1/3/14.

Into a diconic,
A very light amber with a bright white fluffy head
Subtle nose, I don't get much but a little citrus
Stringent and spicy (coriander?) Hits the tongue. The signature farmhouse taste comes later.
Clean mouthfeel due to the citrus and spice
Altogether, a nice southwest take on a farmhouse ale.

Poured from the can a clear gold color with one finger of wet off-white head. A small amount of lacing left behind.
Aroma was earthy with a touch of spice and herbal notes.
The earthiness followed in the taste along with the light spice and herbal presence. Finished with a light bitterness.
Medium bodied and dry with a moderate carbonation.
An easy drinking Saison from Santa Fe Brewing.
