For a saison I'd say it didn't really meet the appearance standards. Not a lot of head or lace, bubbles were more like a lightly carbed ale than a saison. But appearances are not everything. It got better. And it doesn't look BAD it just doesn't really scream out "saison."
Aroma and flavor are much more what I expect from a saison. Kinda tastes like 3711 fermented quite warm, lots of yeasty flavors and aromas. Spicy too, some pepper and coriander are noticeable. A bit of bread and cracker and a portion of funk round it out.
Body is medium with less carbonation than expected, but it's still quite drinkable and tasty. Overall it's a bit odd but I like it. Would have no problem having it again.

12 oz. can into a snifter.
A: Pours a hazy gold with a thick two finger whitish foamy head the fades to a splotchy lace.
S: Some earthy notes, a good amount of bread and yeast, some spice, notably coriander come through as well.
T: Very similar to the nose - some spice and coriander, bready yeast and mild hop bitterness. Was hoping for a bit of tartness but don't find it here.
M: Medium bodied and smooth, refreshing and easy to drink.
O: A pretty tasty saison and quite refreshing on a hot day. Love the cans, and I'd drink it again for sure.

Appearance: Hazy golden color, with a large, slightly coarse white head, which retains well. The lacing is thick, and scattered; the carbonation is moderate.
Aroma: Massive spicy, leafy hop aroma, with prominent notes of white pepper, grassy notes are also present, and prominent phenol alcohols. Bready malt notes round out the complex aroma.
Taste: Opens with robust phenolic flavors, leafy and grassy hops, and bitter apple rind a little later in the taste. Later in the taste, grapefruit rind and white pepper rise, with earthy hops to usher in a lingering close to the taste.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, very, very full, more than pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: A very well-made example of the style, exudes quality; an exemplar of what craft brewing should be.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.
