Taken from notes at Marshall Wharf's Pemaquid Mussel Festival.

A - Poured a super dark basically black hue with a nice dense creamy chocolatey head. Excellent.

S - Nice dark, roasty malts with very good chocolate. A solid chocolatey stout aroma.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Lots more of those rich, creamy dark chocolates along with some light bitter roasted chocolate too. Faint oats with a nice warming booze quality.

M - Mouthfeel is rich and creamy. Simple as that.

O - Overall, this was a solid RIS. Excellent chocolate qualities here. Super drinkable, dangerously so.

Stopped into Three Tides a couple of times on 09-10DEC11 with Alewife. Had gotten a small sample of this the first night, but opted to wait until night 2 for a 1/2-pint ($4.50).

Poured in a small flute, it was dark and opaque, a crude oil brown. Atop the brew was a creamy, rich tan head, lasting well and leaving very nice lacework. Aroma was roasty coffee with some bitter hopping as well. It had a medium to medium-plus body, almost being chewy. And it raised no ruckus at all on the tongue going down.

Flavor was also roasty, with coffee action and bitter dark choco notes. Some light sweetness passed over the palate, with a touch of dark fruit (raisins and figs) blending in to the mix. Quite solid and tasty, though not quite as good as I was hoping for based on the previous nights sample. Still, go for it when possible!!

Prosit!!

Purchased @ Marhall Wharf Belfast, Maine

Price: $25.00/growler

Oh yeah, she's a looker. Pours ink black with a light brown one inch creamy foam head. Average retention in comparison to other stouts of this class. Plenty sticky with a good amount of lacing adorning the glassware.
Edit: after an hour on the growler and other beers she's filling the glass with a two inch plus creamy head that seems to be taking forever to shrink. Lacing now looks like someone drew the shades.

Aroma is strong with molases and unsweetened chocolate followed by mocha, roasted malt and alcohol. I'm not picking up much for dark fruits which could add a little sweetness to the nose.

The flavor is a full on assault of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and alcohol. The booze is a bit noticeable and hard to hide at over 11%.

The mouthfeel begins creamy and somewhat smooth but ultimately leads to a bitter finish. The body is thick and chewy with light carbonation. Finishes slightly dry with some alcohol heat which is suitable for a cold day of ice fishing.

Overall a big stout for the area and well respected. For me the appearance is the stand out category here. Heavy in malt and maybe a little young for my tastebuds, a little age may do wonders. Growler price is a bit high in comparison to other breweries.
