A fresh-hopped version of the Ace Hole Pale Ale, brewed once a year with hops flown in from Washington. My folks came down to visit for the weekend and brought me a growler. Hooray for family in Belfast!

The beer is a crystal clear, copper-orange coloring with a healthy, tall, frothy, filmy white head that starts about an inch tall and quickly recedes into a filmy coating that clings every part of the glass it touches. Aromas of peppery spiced, resiny hops. Very green and rich, with evergreen and bitter highlights. Smooth caramel backbone on the nose which balances nicely. Flavors are rich and resiny hops initially, quickly balanced with the caramel and toffee malt profiles. Spices come through at the end of the palate, with pepper and oregano kicking it up and cleaning the tongue. Smooth aftertaste, with biscuit and toffee leading to a clean, slightly resiny and bitter finish. Very well balanced, well crafted beer. Only available once a year, absolutely worth the trek to Maine to get some.
