Pours hazy copper from the bottle into a Ball jar. Very floral scent, I suspect it is dry hopped. Frothy white head is inviting. Soft easy going mouth feel, pleasant bitterness, much citrus. A straight forward well crafted IPA that I would be happy with any time.

Great looking beer. The appearance is what I love to see in my IPAs. Bright hazy orange/golden color with white frothy head. The aroma and taste are a pop of big citrus notes with some tropical and dank flavors, but most just an orange citrus bomb. Body is pretty light with a good amount of carbonation. Beer finished pretty dry with some lingering bitterness.

Overall - my favorite non barrel aged offering from hanger 24 and love that it comes in six packs. Had a good amount of hop flavor but balanced enough to be very drinkable.

Now if hanger 24 would bottle date their beers I would reach for this more often.

look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance - Pours semi-hazy and golden in color with an off-white finger width head that exhibits fair retention before dying down to a thin layer of suds across the surface and a decent ring around the edge. small, spotty lacing with fair stick.

Smell - Aroma is quite the fruity bouquet with peach, orange, pineapple and grapefruit notes abound. Sweet, bready undertone. Hints of peppery spice.

Taste - Less profound than the nose, though not by much. Grapefruit, stone fruit pit and orange are the main flavors here, with hints of pineapple. Light, bready malts do just enough to add a bit of balance. Touches of black pepper and pine resin hits toward the finish, then a light pith aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with moderate carbonation. Somewhat silky before a semi-dry finish.

Overall - A bit underwhelming in flavor when it was still cold, but it opened up beautifully as it warmed. A really good IPA. A bit reminiscent of Drake's core "pale" line-up with that dry stone fruit pit character. I believe I paid less than $4 for this at Winco? Will likely buy again.

Pours two and half fingers of head on a hazy straw body.
The aroma is full of lemon, pine, grapefruit, pineapple and mango. Incredible.
The taste mirrors the smell; lots of pine and citrus bitterness, finishes with a semi-harsh bitter note.
The texture is crisp.
Excellent all around.

love this easy drinking, yet highly satisfying ipa from hangar 24. my favorite product from them thus far. nice orange-amber color with a fluffy head; decent head retention and lacing remain in the glass. big tropical fruit nose coupled with just a pinch of citrus zest equates a happy drinker in me. doesn't taste boozy, nor does it leave me overly intoxicated after a few bottles. medium mouthfeel and drier finish compliment the hop qualities in this decidedly west coast ipa.

A: Nice little dark orange hazy shades. The head is off egg shell white and very fluffy. Leaves nice lacing on the glass too.

S: Get a little piney bitterness, citrus/tropical/stone fruits, and a bit earthy.

T: Good earthy pine notes with some juicy fruits. A little bitter biased, but the fruit do have their place and they stand strong.

M: Pretty solid medium body leaning towards full. Smooth carbonation hit making it very drinkable. Finishes a bit dry, but man does it make you want more in a good way.

O: Really solid brew. Only got a bottle of it, but would definitely get a pack for warmer days that are coming here in Nevada.

Pours a hazy golden orange color frothy white head that leaves chunks of lacing.

Smells of bright hops with citrus and tropical fruits.

Tastes of the bright hops with a solid malt base. A multitude of hops come through with grapefruit, pineapple, mango, and pine notes. Not particularly bitter as the malts make their presence felt by adding some caramel notes . Finishes with a small piny bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a tasty IPA and definitely worth a look.

On tap at The Playground in Downtown Santa Ana, CA.

Hangar 24 Betty and the Raul man is feeling it like Betty Grable. Now, it may not be as swanky and robust, but it's aite enough. A smooth bitterness it met by delicate hops that make Raul wish it was the golden era again.

On tap at the Reno Air Races

A: Pours a hazy golden orange with a frothy light tan that hangs around and laces quite nicely.

S: Sweet toasted malt and citrus hops.

T: Very nice citrus hops up front with grapefruit leading the way, a little pine and maybe some tropical fruit notes in there, backed with some caramel malt sweetness.

M: Pretty light body, light to moderate carbonation.

O: Hard to give this one a very detailed review out of a plastic cup, but it was a rather refreshing to drink in the sun while watching the racing action. Looking forward to trying this again to really see what's what.

Update: On tap at BC's Pizza and Beer

In a more proper setting the smell and all the flavors are much more vibrant. There's a very nice grapefruit and floral hop bite with a little pineapple and miscellaneous tropical fruit mixed in as well, all balanced with malt sweetness, and with a nice lingering bitterness. Very solid brew.

Has a nice honey gold color with a creamy head. Nice lacing on the glass. Crisp and bitter mouth feel. The taste is of a Classic IPA, pine is most noticeable in the hop flavor. A very nice hop forward beer, one you could make an every day beer. In my opinion this brew is what an IPA should be.

Fruit, malty, and spicy all at once. Attractive beer with a orangey amber color and a fine-grained foam in the small nonic. Pleasingly fizzy with a tart edge. Mango nose.

Warm and toasty with a deep fruitiness. Not really that bitter, but full of hop flavors. Mouthfeel has a sprightly soda-water tang. Loads of lacing along the glass. The light malt flavor runs deep but it's not so sweet. Dry finish with just enough bitterness. Flowery and spicy.

This is a highly drinkable and friendly brew that is loaded with hop aromatics. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Whole Foods in San Francisco.

This has been the beer I've been waiting for from these guys. Their DIPA seems like a malt bomb at times. But this Betty is just fantastic. Great floral notes, super juicy, sticky, citrus and mango everywhere, sweet, highly balanced and great malt backbone. This is just wonderful. If you get a chance to get this, you will not regret it. If their Double was only this good, these guys could compete with any other notorious DIPA out there.

Appearance: Cloudy copper-orange with a decent head of foam, good lacing, and plentiful carbonation.

Smell: Citrus and tropical fruits.

Taste: Citrus, tropical fruits, pine, and hints of malt hiding in the background.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, crisp, with a wallop of hop bitterness in the finish.

The Verdict: Very good. A wee bit too bitter of a finish for me, but if you like Stone's offerings you'll probably love this one. The smell and taste are spot on for an IPA.

On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, tropical fruit, and slight herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, pine, and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

This is an outstanding IPA. Great clear orange coloration along with many fruit/orange aromas. The texture is crisp and slightly mouthwatering. This here is a thirst quencher. Though it is less hoppy than larger breweries IPA options like Stone or Sierra Nevada, this lighter citrusy IPA can go toe-to-toe with some of the non-macro behemoths out there. This is an excellent beer.

Center poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. No bottle date.

Nice, clear golden-orange color with a finely bubbled, frothy 1/2" white head. Decent retention, leaves some spotty lacing. Head comes back lush with a swirl.

Delicious fruity smells of tangerine and grapefruit zest, pineapple juice, peaches, a little bit of pine. Some passion fruit if you really dig.

More juicy grapefruit and tangerine on the taste, followed by peaches and peach pit, then some light pine sap. Some vague tropical fruit. Long grapefruit zest and pine finish. Mostly dry but well-balanced.

Light bodied, well carbonated, good attenuation. Ends pretty clean but just a little sticky.

Spot on west coast IPA with a great hop profile. Well executed and friggin delicious.

Picked up a single at TW Arrowhead at the end of December for $1.99. No visible bottling date.

Beer poured golden-orange with a very nice head upon the initial pour.

Nose initially was awesome but after decanting, full of citrus. The fade of the nose was very noticeable suggesting this is an older bottle.

Taste is dominating by the simcoe hops, very piney with a light tropical fruit hop lingering in the background. There is a major hop oil lingering in the after taste.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and decently carbonated, very refreshing after a long day in the office.

Overall this is a pretty solid beer. I am not digging the huge lingering hop oil impact on the pallet but do appreciate the hop blending that went into crafting this beer.

Give credit where credit is due. This is an outstanding IPA. Smells are pungent and copious. As soon as i opened the bottle i was hit by those aromas. Never had that happened with any IPA yet. Lots of sediment in this beer with an superb finish. Yours thoughts think bitterness will hit you at the end but is as smooth as glass. One of the better finish IPA"S. No carbonation is present, still as a lizard in the sun. Hint of spice on the back of the throat. Super enjoyable. Go as far to say, this could be the go to IPA. Well crafted and better than the widely available IPA"S out there. Complexity is the opening here. Lots of flavors present. Hops mainly persist up front. Fruity notes all around. This is definitely a stand out. Orange in color with great back and forth scaffolding lacing. Gets darker in the head as you pour and retain the same glass. Only 60 miles from my house. Will be visiting for some libations.

Outstanding is right!

Pours hazy copper/gold with a creamy looking finger high head of off white. The retention on this is average for a hoppy beer and leaves a very attractive lacing on the glass.

Bready with quite a bit of caramel sweetness. Hop aroma is moderate with citrus and pungent tropical fruits. Passion fruit and mangoes are very notable with a lurking fresh pine.

Malt is very solid with a bready and caramel foundation. Pine and dark citrus hops, quite juicy, the tropical aspect from the nose is lost. Finishes with a solid citrus and pine blast with managed bitterness and a hint of breathy alcohol.

Medium bodied but feels sluggish across the palate even when colder. Malts are sticky and provide less than adequate dryness. Bitterness is pretty easy to bear and the alcohol while present isn't sharp or biting.

A nice IPA, juicy hops with a really pungent tropical tone. Not the lightest on it's feet but easy enough to drink, one for those rainy days or cool summer nights.

Hanger 24's regular lineup is not great, but solidly good. However, this beer knocks it out of the park. They deliver a moderately priced fresh IPA packed with the most popular hops, Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe. It borders between an IPA and DIPA in flavor and body. The Aroma hops are huge and mild bitterness is easily balanced by a full but clean body. Knocked Racer 5, Sculpin and Union Jack out of my easily attainable, bomb IPAs. Nice job!

Ratings are correct below, but I changed some marks above to make the final rating as close as possible with Beer Advocate's "revamped" system. The 4.08 overall rating is accurate.

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Pint mug
From: Barons Market in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $9.99 for a 6-pack
Purchased: June 19, 2015
Consumed: June 19, 2015
Misc.: N/A

Poured an orange, light honey, semi-clear color with 5-to-6 fingers (bad pour by me) of khaki white, frothy head. Good amount of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good amount of foamy, layered, spiderweb lacing on the sides of the glass. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.13)

Smelled a potent good whiff of hops, getting Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, floral, tropical, Centennial, grapefruit, light mango, Cascade and faint Nelson Sauviin. Wonderful. (Smell - 4.50)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but that was understood with my expectations. Got floral, orange blossom, Mosaic, Citra, light Simcoe, Sauvin, Centennial, grapefruit and nectarine rind. (Taste - 3.88)

Medium-to-light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, slightly bitter, but floral finish. (Feel - 4.00)

This was just a really good IPA. I have to say that I was mightily surprised. Can’t wait to have my other five. (Overall - 4.13)

Pours a hazy light orange with a two finger white head that sticks around for days. It smells delicious. Tangerine, orange, lemon, papaya, pineapple. The flavor is very juicy. Orange and tangerine. The mouthfeel is rather thick for an ipa this low
