Appearance: Nice amber with plenty of foam and good lacing.

Smell: Not a strong aroma, but there are some toasted malts and caramel.

Taste: Toasted malts, chocolate, and caramel up front with a decent amount of hops for balance. The hop flavor tends to strengthen as it warms.

Mouthfeel: Fresh, rich, and creamy.

The Verdict: Not bad. I met California based Hangar 24 at a beer fest and they impressed me. This isn’t their best, but it’s a decent sample of the the style with plenty of flavor.

Attractive amber hue, slightly hazy with a one finger off white head. Decent retention and forms an attractive ring of lacing.

Delivers a nice mixture of bready malt and light complex sweetness, caramel and toffee with hazelnut, grape skins and cocoa powder notes. Hop profile is slightly fruity and herbaceous.

Full flavor that starts off slightly grainy with some bread and husk, nice amounts of mixed nuts, honey, toffee, and cocoa. Little bit of grass and vinous fruit. Finish gets a touch acidic but a solid bitterness and grainy drying scrub the palate well.

Good bitterness and drying, sessionable body with average carbonation. Well balanced beer.

Terrific alt-bier, provides good flavor and complex for a session beer, stands out in its own category. Impressive offering, and good value.

Pours a clear golden amber color with a foamy root beer colored head. It barely has any nose at all. Toasted malt aroma. Mild to medium bodied, wet mouthfeel. Notes of chocolate and coffee with a distinct fresh chili pepper finish. An interesting beer.

Sort of like a nice lightly burnt caramel on the nose with bits of chocolate for highlights. It leaves a sweet and nutty impression on the brain.

Pours a deep clear amber with a few bubbles of carbonation that rise to the slightly off-white, thin head. Lacing is thin but adequate to satiate me. It's a really nice looking beer.

Nice sweet start that brings up this brown sugar caramel-like flavor and rounds out to a flavor reminiscent of eating a toffee bar with chocolate and nuts. Very nice and simple flavors coming off of this beer. It's smooth and medium bodied, with little carbonation. Its a solid Alt bier that I'd love to have again.

Medium brown colored ale with a small tan colored head.

Strongly malty with a whiff of patent malt to it. Caramel, toasted bread and some small amount of fruitiness. Slight coffee aroma with no real aroma of hops beyond a slight grassy scent.

Starts out sweet and very malty with a slight bitterness to it. Coffee flavor develops that stands with the caramel flavors. Bitterness is slight and seems to come as much from patent malt as it does from hops. Slight burned toast flavor.

Mouthfeel is full as you would expect from a malty beer style.

Overall an OK beer, not sure I would buy again instead of Alaskan Amber.
