Poured on tap at the 2nd Anniversary celebration at Hangar 24. Brewed with fresh local apple cider and caramelized sugar. Poured into the matching H24 tulip glass.

A - Pours a blonde straw color with a slightly orange tint. Very cloudy with a nice thin eggshell head that retains well throughout the drink.

S - A little strong with the alcohol scent, but there's also some tart apple and coriander, a bit of yeast.

T - Alcohol is noticeable up front, but mixes well with the cinnamon and spices of the cider. Mild yeast flavor come out towards the end. The part where this beer shines is the finish, which seems to go on forever. It's a delicate yeasty flavor with notes of apples, reminds me of the gooey crust of apple pie. I imagine that's also where the caramelized sugar comes into play. I think this would be a 4.5 if there was a bit more complexity, but as is it's pretty straightforward.

M - Pretty light and watery, very little carbonation. It does well to keep the beer from feeling too heavy, but I think it could use a little more body.

D - Overall a success, just be careful - the light body and flavor hide the potency pretty well. Still a neat variation on the Belgian style, I'd say it would be a good training beer to introduce a newer beer drinker to the genre.

Props to Hangar 24, I'm really glad to see that they're taking off. Good luck at the Great American Beer Festival this September!

This doesn't match style for "Belgian Strong Pale Ale" but is very nice overall. Style it's called at Blue Palms is "Belgian Carmel Apple."

A - Nice golden blonde body, finger, tight, white head that dissipates quickly.

S- Complex scents, sugars on the front with a tart apple hint at end.

T - Just like the smell, smooth carmel sweetness at the onset and a crisp tart apple finish.

M - Nice fullness, with the tart finish to balance. Touch astringent.

O - Although not a "traditional" Belgian Strong Pale Ale by any means, I really enjoy this. Full flavored and refreshing

Enjoyed on 8/15/11 at The Blue Palms Brew House.

Pours golden in color and has a nice 2 finger head of foam.

The aroma is at first bursting with a complex scent of fruits and sugars.

The taste is a surprise in contrast to the initial aroma. The caramel bursts onto the palate. Sweet but not overpowering. Hints of apple and malt that make it very unique. The alcohol is well hidden. Every sip is as good as the last. It's consistent and continues to be delicious. You'll definitely want more than one.

Personally, I love this beer. This is one of the most drinkable beers I've ever had. I had this at the Blue Palms Brewhouse on tap. It was so good that I ordered a second one with my lobster mac and cheese, which couldn't have been a better match. This beer seems like it would go well with just about any food but seafood and pasta for sure. This is a limited run so I suggest you try it while it lasts.

On tap at the brewery's 2nd anniversary party 6/5/2010. I'm told that this uses 2 local ingredients (where as the 1st anniversary beer used only 1 local ingredient).

Pours hazy and golden with a tall white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Doesn't last too long though.

Aroma is spicy and Belgian. I also detect apples and caramel. The caramel is confusing because there aren't any dark malts in this beer.

Flavor is a bit strong and boozy but otherwise very interesting and enjoyable. The apple cider is very evident as is the sweetness which is balanced by a dryness and bitterness. Definitely a spicy Belgian yeast at work here.

Body is light and this beer is drinkable and enjoyable.
