Bought a bomber in Palm Springs and consumed same night with a cigar over a few hours. Appearance is pale for a porter.
Cocoa nose, sugar and vanilla.
Taste more caramel. Sweet alcohol. Lingering heat, fusels.
Mouthfeel is off-dry, with a light body.
Drinkability isn't too good. Overall, it's an entirely forgettable beer.

Poured from a bomber bottle into a globe glass.

L - Deep, dark brown, almost black. Clear. Tan head is thick. It persists as a thin sheet and thick lacing.

S - Aroma is of roasted grain, almost burnt. Some smoke and chocolate. Grain husk in the end. Some earthy hops. Not very complex.

T - Husky graininess at first, followed by chocolate and coffee with just a hint of burnt grain and light smoke. Moderate grassy hops. Dry, clean finish.

F - Medium body. Medium, smooth carbonation. Medium hops bitterness. Low alcohol presence.

O - Overall, this is a well-made beer, very clean and crisp. I'd like to see it have less graininess and burnt character and more chocolate/coffee for a porter, especially one that calls itself a chocolate porter.

The beer was really good with my dinner. However, the thin taste made for a flat tasting beer. Good for deserts and sipping. No match for my IPA's though.

On tap at Eureka Burger

A: Pours dark brown with a creamy light tan head that fades and laces fairly well.

S: Pretty straight forward, semi sweet chocolate and roasted malt.

T: Roasted malt up front, a nice hit of chocolate, maybe even a little light coffee in there, and a some faint pine and spice notes. It holds it's alcohol well, never would have guessed it's 8%.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, quite smooth and creamy.

O: Maybe not the best example I've had of the style, but not bad.
